That's not exactly true. He had 32 points in his first 24 games (22 before the WJC and 2 after he came back). So he had 62 points over his last 39 games for a 1.59 points-per-game pace. Over a full 65 game season, that 104 points.

@@Un_t0uch4bl3 62/39 = 1.59 x 65 games played = 103.3 points (104 rounded up) Technically I think there are 68 official games in the OHL per season, so he potentially could've reached 109 points but he would've gone to the WJC so he wouldn't have played the full 68 games. But anyways yes I do think he had even more in the tank and I think he'll be elite in the league

No worries all he is saying is Wright lacks a "WOW" factor - already said by many scouts and he is not going to be a super star or 'generational talent'- something that many people have said as well - a few people have said Wright projects as a John Tavares level of player - good player not an all-time great player. And I like the fact that he would have fired Trevor Timmins 10 years ago.

To me... Shane Wright is a fusion between: Tavares, O'Reilly & Barkov in the making... yes he's good all around like Bergeron but his upset is way better than he was at is age! Look at the under 18 tournament how dominant he was just before the OHL season was canceled! To concluded, I do believe he need one more season in the OHL before turning Pro and a power skating coach! But overall he's a VERY completed player!

I think Snake is spot on but I don't think Wright will flop either, we just need to manage our expectations, I see him as a mix between Tavares and Spezza, he will be very good but not just one hockey player wins games. Habs will need wingers, others than Caufield, scoring goals and especially help on defense. I d put him in Kingston next year because he missed one year of playing hockey and the habs can go back in the lottery next year as well. Another thing, Joshua Roy IS slow, and in the NHL right now it is not a league for slow players. We shall see!

He got exceptional status. The only bust is Sean Day and he was a oversized D who came in 250lbs to a camp Wright missed his prime junior years thanks to Covid this draft will be very good for steals . Sure next years 1st is worth a ton more but all these kids missed out on hockey for over a year. So it’s anyones guess on how good weight really is

Just to be clear Habs fans here’s what “very good player” means. Seguin O’Rielly Zibanejad Lindholm These are all certified top line centres. Would you be upset if Shane Wright became the same level player as these? Because this is what the scouts believe he will be. Not every 1st overall pick has to be a franchise altering player, or a generational talent.

Generational talent such as McDavid or Matthews end-up asking 12m per season anyway. Playoff team have depth. I'd be realy happy with Suz and Wright as center, making around 7m/8m each, putting up 70/80pts each. Now you have a realyyyyy good 1-2 punch, who can score but also be reliable in defense. Futur's bright for us habs fan

Idk about this guy. He kept comparing Wright to McDavid when no one else is. Honestly mtl right now needs a bergeron type player to replace the hole that Danault left. Who knows maybe Wright with Roy on the same line might turn into an awesome 2nd line.

Shane Wright is a darn good hockey player with tremendous upside. There are many variables to consider when you come to a thorough conclusion with respect to where a player will be at 22-23 years of age which nobody has control over when making predictions. Some develop better than others but nobody has a crystal ball to tell us where a given player will be in a few years from now. Shane Wright has high end skills where you need them the most in the offensive categories. He is a Top 6 forward ! Who does not want that? Habs have been poor on player development over many years up until recently when we finally gave some young players a chance to play and develop on centre stage. His shot is devastating which is something many players in the NHL don't have at the moment. We will definitely have quite a PP with Suzuki, CC and Wright bending those sticks. There is a lot more creativity indeed. Our depth chart is by far the best in years but The Snake seems to keep a knock on the Habs for some reason. As Wright matures through the bumpy roads ahead, I am sure he will be a solid contributor to a winning formula in the years ahead. Not all players drafted make it through but we need skills offensively which Shane Wright definitely has. We will definitely revisit this conversation in a few years from now. Thanks Tony for a great job with your Sick Podcast! Take care! Habsrule!

Boisvert indicated that Shane Wright lacks a "WOW" factor (of dominance) to his game. I saw (TV) Suzuki play a handful of OHL games and wondered how he was such a prolific and consistent scorer (he did not seem to 'dominate' play on the ice). If Wright can be at least as good as Suzuki, IMHO it would be worthwhile to take him as the #1 selection in this NHL Draft class - just my opinion.

Good show Tony, I don't understand any of the haters on the guest. Personally I'm not into sheeps, love the different opinions, this scout was open and didn't seem bias and he seems to know his stuff. Although disagree with his take on Trevor Timmins. You forget he's Anglo and pressure to select French players at all cost AKA Louis Leblanc. Not to mention the recycled coaches we had. We're they really helping our propespects at the time. Definately not like St.Louis. the biggest thing about MTL was that they don't deevelop players this has nothing to do with Timmins which is why is bottom picks always work out because those goes had the hard working mentality and didn't need outside forces to help them. They are so many factors. I will continue to defend Timmins. Of course he made mistakes but...

Tony loved your reaction of discouragement. lol we shall see over time if snake is right. Montreal has not won a cup since 1993 right? one of the reasons they did a terrible job in drafting and developping players. As if they do not have the competence to developpe good hockey players. I hope the new admin in place will turn this around. Montreal is at one Stanley cup of number 25. Lets pray.
