The Moral Of This Monty Python Sketch!!!! If You Are Going To Run A Cheese Shop Have Some F***ing Cheese In Your Cheese Shop
@richardgale4827 Жыл бұрын
I feel like I've been on shopping trips like this. "Not much call for it." "Well I'm calling for it." "It doesn't sell, sir." "Yes it does, you had it before and I bought all of it." And if it's not that, it's that the shop's only open on Tuesdays and Fridays, and closes for a two-hour lunch. And then two months later, the shop's closed down and people are tutting and saying "Amazon's claimed another victim!" or "People don't have the money now." Well, I do - I'm standing here waving a wad of money I'm desperately trying to spend! "Sorry sir, we can’t take cash."

Long ago, I was once in Knob Hill Farms (the grocery store for those unfamiliar) and I was astounded at their cheese counter. It went on forever and there were so many types of cheese I couldn't wrap my mind around it, then I heard this sketch and concluded it was all true. LOL

Lancashire is the cheese made in the county I live. Really good stuff, comes in 3 varieties- tasty, crumbly and creamy. An old timey simple local dish is putting milk on a plate then crumbling in crumbly Lancashire and melting it under the grill. Then mop it up with buttered bread 😋🧀

I went into a delicatessen in Aachen in Germany. I wanted to try a German cheese. I asked the girl behind the counter for a German cheese. She suggested Gouda, Edam? I said no, they're Dutch. Limburger? no Dutch as well. She suggested Emmenthal, thought for a moment and at the same time as I said it, said, No, that's Swiss. She called her supervisor over. Nope, she couldn't think of a German cheese either. Everything in the display was from somewhere else. There are German cheeses, but not many. There's only one I know and only because it's mentioned In the sketch, I've never tried it. Tilsit. The delicatessen didn't have it. German delicatessen, quite a big, well stocked one and no German cheeses. Bizarre.
@Griexxt Жыл бұрын
They're more into sausages to be fair. The town of Tilsit is now in the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, so I guess a true Tilsit cheese would no longer be a German cheese.

Mainzer Handkäse or perhaps Harzer. Both, and others are commonly available in better supermarkets. Think very ripe Camembert without the floury white rind, then double the pong! It's actually far better tasting than it smells? Although many in Germany serve it with caraway seeds in or on it. A pleasant snack with a mini bread roll served in some of the traditional Altbier brewpubs in the Düsseldorf old town.

Camembert is famous for having a creamy inside, so having it "runny" is entirely desireable (though preferabbly baked to achieve the runnyness)

That was funny. But hey.....you really should just watch full half hour episodes, they're way better in context. There aren't that many of them! By watching these short clips, you're missing the animation and the randomness the sketches segueway from one to the other. So when you finally land on a sketch like this, you're kind of "primed". Just a suggestion! Also: if someone requests a Python sketch, make sure you watch it from the original television series (you can tell because it has a live audience, like this one did). DON'T watch the lame clips where it's from this lousy movie they were convinced to do, where they recreated the sketches for film, with no audience, it just drains the life out of the sketches, and completely kills the timing. So if someone says "Watch the Dead Parrot sketch"....and you start it, and it doesn't have a live audience laughing? Click out of it and find the right one.
