That Blackwood guitar is totally beautiful. Here in Australia, Blackwood grows around our south east coast but most of it it known as Tasmanian Blackwood. If you were to see the living tree you would not guess what the timber inside is like. The tree has scraggly grey bark that hangs off it and looks more like a Yeti than a tree. My brother has a 55 foot sailing boat and the cabin is built with Blackwood, not veneer, solid blackwood. It's beautiful in guitars and equally beautiful in boats. I think most Australian guitar builders will have models made from Blackwood. Funnily enough, the name doesn't come from the timber being black, or even dark. It comes from the way your hands end up if you are working with it when it's not fully cured and the oils start to soak into your skin.

I did not know that. Thank you for the lesson. The wood looks a lot like Koa.

@@MontyMcKinnon Yep. Its often used as a cheaper alternative to Koa.

Monty, I am so glad that I started following your son Peter, it lead me to here. For years I have loved guitars (I am not that good) but I love them and I want to build a couple... You are talented and so generous in giving your craft to us... About the TEA and COFFEE, I love them both, I enjoy a great cup of coffee probably Rwanda and Burundi are my favorite regions, and Tea my grandmother used to set with me and drink hot tea, we always added cream and sweetener to it... My favorite is mostly black teas.... Keep up the awesome work and tell your boy to try some tea as well post a VIDEO of that!!!
