2 months ago i found one photo in one of gay group on fb..the photo was from this scene Monty and Wilston dancing together. I did some search i found out that it was from 13 reason why. I heard lot of this series so i decide to watch it but i got in school stuff. 2 months after i started watching this series i was looking for this scene... yesterday i finish the last episode and finally saw that scene..it was beautiful. Never knew it was Wilstons imagination.

Did you forget what he did to Tyler? Why does everyone keep forgetting about what Monty did to Tyler just because they gave him a deeper storyline? No matter how broken or damaged Monty’s background was, nothing will ever justify what he did to Tyler. Nothing. And while it’s unfortunate that Monty died the way he did, it sucks that people are calling Monty their favourite character just because he’s a representative of the LGBTQ+ community. He’s a disgrace to the lovely and vibrant LGBTQ+ community.

In my opinion, both Monty and Bryce had great character development, I believe they both should've had the chance to change and prove that they could be better around the right people.

When you think about Monty a bit deeper you’ll find out that he was such complex character in this show. First, he wasn’t a bad person in the beginning. People around him, like his family, friends, schoolmates... made him evil and full of anger. Second, yeah he liked boys, partly at least. And believe me, realizing that at the wrong time or place, like surrounded by a homophobic parents, friends or teachers... that can change someone in way you will not even recognize that person anymore. From my own experience, these people are able to do literally anything to make those "bad feelings" go away. Even if it means lying, cheating or even hurting someone. Especially hurting someone who knows or might know about your feelings. You are becoming paranoid, stressed and full of anger. You shut yourself in and you become such a little coward. You would kill for a change, but you simply cannot do that, cause what would the others think about you...? And... I know all of that because I’ve been through that. It was a long tough six years under the constant pressure. To be honest I am (or I was) Monty in real life. I almost beat to death a friend of mine who knew and supported me. But all I could see in him was pure risk. I even can’t describe how much shame and contemptuousness I am feeling for my actions and for sure I’ll never forgive myself for causing that much pain. And that’s the reason I am writing this comment with my horrible grammar. Maybe someone will read this and avoid my mistakes.

Hey, First of all: You faught a lot of time against your own because of anxiour, disgust and denial. Coming to the Point where you are now, that you are able to reflect your actions, is a long and hard process. You can’t change what happened and for sure, what you did was wrong, but you are living NOW! You learn from your past and it makes you the person you Are today, but it should NEVER hold you back from beeing happy. You shouldn’t blame yourself for the rest of your life. You deserve happiness, freedom and love. But Never forget to Love yourself. We all do mistakes and we all can be wrong. But that doesn’t mean that we are unworthy of love. Try to forgive yourself for what you did. I guess already your mind punishes you enough. Try to let it go, focus on your future and turn the anger and the shame you feel for yourself in the Love you can give to others and most importantly: To yourself :) I wish you the best in life! I don’t excuse that amount of fucked-up, inexcusable shit, no matter what personal trauma might be behind it. What really checks out is the privileged wealthy kid being a douche, it’s a type. They’re everywhere. I appreciate that they have their own struggles, but really the addict (Justin) was a much more decent person and that doesn’t quite play out like this in real life. Most of the time. And while I certainly loved this show, I don’t think it’s genuine to claim these actors and characters represent relatable High Schoolers or their struggles. I know, things have changed in the past 15 years - like a lot! But most High Schoolers who are out still take an enormous load of crap, the stigma and the bullying are horrendous, from what I hear. Add the fact, that in real life High Schoolers don’t all look like they fell off the Givenchy catwalk and there aren’t as many outed kids and often they don’t get the support they need. Monty’s struggle in this regard is probably the most credible. I appreciate lgbtqia+ representation and all the problematic aspects of the rollercoaster that youth is shown to be, with some of them being clearly and predominantly specifical US issues like the school shooting, the machoid power-culture and social implications of being on a schools team or the opioid epidemic. I’m not trying to dump on 13RW, just point out that considering US high schools in particular, this is not a reality-based story and for a TV show that wanted to bring awareness to horrible things like suicide and the aforementioned topics, it got a lot of this key message very wrong and that’s a bit of a shame imho.

Monty did bad things, awful things but he didn’t deserve to be murdered or framed for his best friends murder. He had troubles at home, it says how his dad came at him with a hammer and that is no justification for what he did to Tyler. But he deserved better. I agree he could’ve gotten better. I think the writers should’ve gone into more detail about his life, it would’ve been better, I cried at the prom scene 💗

First of all, I really like this. Beautiful editing. I would however like to remark (since I saw a lot of people romanticizing this relationship and Monty in the comments) that Monty was not a good person. I don’t care what he went through, all of our character‘s are forged in different ways. So yeah, he might have been redeemable, but him dying does not actually account for any sort of redemption and it does not make the trauma he caused go away and just because Winston romanticized the sh*t out of the few hours he and Monty shared all the way through the last season, that does not mean that his delusions are in any way representative of Monty‘s actual character (yes, there is a possibility, that he would have become more accepting and loving both towards himself and others had he lived, but there is no guarantee. I feel like even if you do ship these two (and I kind of low key do, otherwise I probably wouldn’t be here), you have to be careful to not idealize Monty to much just because he died.

Monty for once found a bit of love - something his evil father beat out of him. Monty died too soon. At least he probably was thinking of Winston in his dying moments. This is incredibly sad since I was a Winston when I was very young in someone’s live - love, however, was not enough to mend him. His drunken father also beat the living daylights out of him.

Every time I even for a second begin to romanticize something related to Monty or Bryce, I immediately remind myself of everything they did. How many lives they destroyed. Everyone says that Monty was broken, yes, it is. But that still doesn't excuse what he did to Tyler. He made this choice, he didn't stop in the process, and as far as I remember he wasn't sorry. If you decide to justify Monty, imagine yourself in Tyler's place. Imagine the horror and pain he went through. Monty deserved punishment, maybe not with his life, but he deserved it.
