I put in my earbuds and found a comfortable place to sit in the dark to experience this: What spiritual state of being: understanding: This is Spiritual Oneness Freedom and freedom embracing Spiritual Truth as such... One world, one existence: Spiritual synchrony materialized... HalleluYah!!! 😇🕊🕊

Of course it is a personal thing. With the passage of time I find this growing as a favorite Moody song. The composition of Mike Pinder stands up to the passage of time. I find it as relevant today as when it was written. Mellotronic.

A friend and i spent a day with the drummer, he was definitely a follower of Jesus and not preaching but just interested in our wellbing our souls... i remember him and his careing words, about new life and Jesus, and him saying :"Ill stay here as long as it takes if you will come.." That was in 1977. I am sure he planted seeds in my herart then,... Now I am a lover of Jesus and follow Him and His WORD, evident in these lyrics and many of their songs!

This was a go to song in 1986+. The lyrics. A look down life’s hallways. Doorways to lead you there. As a premed student in mid 80s this music was so gold to me. Practicing medicine now almost 30 yrs. Thank you moody blues.

"On The Threshold of A Dream" is at the top of my favorite albums list. I will have to give it a hearing tonight now that I've heard some here. Except on the radio, or like this video, I always listen to the whole album. If ever an album was made to be taken as a whole, this is it. For me this album is a masterpiece.

I have always felt this song was the progression of someone going through a trip and the singer is the guild bringing the person back, knowledge of the psychological changes that were made to the traveler's personality during the trip.

The Moody Blues. have the distinction - for me anyway - of having 5 really excellent albums, now CDs. Groups are lucky to have just one song that good. No group can match that, maybe not even the Beatles.

Mike Pinder’s writing ,vocals and playing were as good as it gets. E.g. if not for Mike’s intro to Nights in White Satin, even Justin Hayward has said it wouldn’t the song it became.

It's really more Psychedelic than anything, but an early inspiration for the genre. In the same way that The Velvet Underground,The Deviants,Love, and NEU! probably inspired Punk Rock Bands or bands like Cream,Hendrix Experience, and Steppenwolf (and let's be honest Ted Nugent) likely inspired most Heavy Metal I imagine a lot of Prog Rock was directly influenced by them alongside ofc Pink Floyd.

Fans know Pinder is the most important member so even though the others really strangely keep trying to diminish the fans don’t buy it. Pinder was not just the sound of the band but also composed of many of the most profound works. “Have You Heard” (both of the two parts) are 100% the work of Pinder and the most exploratory song on the OTTOTD album.

@mike9086 0 seconds ago Yes, but he left them and because he did not want to tour sued them to try and stop them continuing with the group name - despite the presence of 2 other original members. Hayward (OBE) by far the most important member. Pinder did hardly anything on his own after he left- 1 decent track on an otherwise awful album - and then no more.

Sadly a lot of contempory bands of the day dismissed the music and Pinder specifically for the use of the mellotran considering it not an instrument so not legit. I couldnt disagree more but just saying what i've heard. The Moodies are the best band ever, other really great ones but none make me feel or take my soul to where can.

Loved the Moody Blues for about 55 years (or earlier, since first hearing Nights in White Satin, not their earlier hit Go Now!). Didn’t realize the somewhat-subtle Christian/Jesus references until later, especially when hearing how deeply christian Mike Pinder was (and some of the others were/are ). Personally, not thrilled at all with the Christian references (subtle, or otherwise) threaded through some of the lyrics, like here in Mike Pinder’s work, or like in Seventh Sojourn, in some of John Lodge’s songs, etc. I just try to ignore or re-imagine these spots in the lyrics. Not a fan of Jesus, or the religion.
