I think we all felt this way about their lyrics and music. The first spiritual group I listened to back then, they made you think about all of you, not just the physical part of you. We all know where we are when we first wake up and our soul comes back to our bodies in the morning (the dead and the living), it's a magical/mystical God connection we have and can have all the time with God in our hearts.

Harri, this song is the first selection of the album "A Question of Balance." The album is a musical quest seeking answers to the questions presented in this song. The final song, "The Balance" is the resolution to the quest. In the original vinyl LP, there aren't breaks between songs, the music flows smoothly from song to song.

The Moody Blues began their journey in the 60's and had a sound not that different then many other British bands. The something changed and the group began putting out music that was unique and unchallenged for years. No other group could touch you like the Moody Blues could until Pink Floyd came along. I was 16 and my mother could see we were taking an interest in music. She came home one day with two albums. The first was call "Smokin" by Humble Pie, and the second album was called "Seventh Sojourn" by the Moody Blues. It's a short album, but I still believe it's one of their best. Totally hooked me on the Moody Blues. Get this album. Turn down the lights and have a couple drinks. Then relax and submerse yourself in their music. It will touch you.

Glad you like that song! It is definitely a studio version. Tony Clark, Moody's producer, was a wizard at obtaining that open sound in the recording studio. I first heard the band in the late 60's. It was a song called Tuesday Afternoon and it was on a car radio. I didn't know who they were but I recall thinking "that's the best music I have ever heard". In time I frequented the small town in Surrey, England, where they lived. (Cobham). Eventually I got to meet them briefly in Vancouver, Canada. When I shook hands with Justin Hayward he said "I know the face". It was strange, as if we had known each other in some far off distant land. Just so you know ... this song, Question, was actually 2 songs that Justin wove together into the tapestry of wonder that it now is. I do suggest you explore their music. They are in fact the one band that truly had their own unique sound (like the Beatles) and I feel blessed to have heard all of it. I think Justin lives in the south of France now near the Italian border. He has recorded much of his solo work in Italy. I do suggest you check out "View From The Hill". It is brilliant but he has so many other offerings as well. Music is sound and sound is the foundational energy that sponsors creation. When we write a song, we bring forth the gifts therein this sonic energy and just as the Moody Blues have done, ..... give them to others that they may hear too. Yes, I almost forgot ... Blue Jays~~~~ It was a single album featuring Justin Hayward and John Lodge. Again, brilliant.

So glad to see you enjoying the Moody Blues. I came to them very late (Long Distance Voyager came out when i was in seventh grade), but they are a favorite. After I graduated from high school 35 years ago, I went on a community funded trip to Ireland (in return I got to show my pics to all the community groups who had contributed). Obviously had to pack light, so I chose carefully what music I took. Two Moody Blues albums made the cut: A Question of Balance and Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. I had both on vinyl (still do!) but recorded them onto one 90-minute cassette to take with me. Moody Blues are best appreciated in album form. Sad farewell to Graeme Edge this past week...he joins bandmate Ray Thomas in the great jam session in the sky.
