I think they missed a massive opportunity to have the 3 main villains of the previous arcs together in one place, even for just this season. Seeing Frieza, Cell, and Buu teaming would slap AND provide opportunity to develop their characters even further. The dialogue between the other Z fighters (especially Gohan and Cell), along with the other villains would be just pure gold. Maybe this can happen in the future, for the 2nd Tournament of Power, as there are the other universes that didn't participate to have more fresh faces. My two cents :)

Here's my theory as to why Goten and Trunks aren't in the tournament. Theory 1: The obvious. Goten and trunks are just kids. There could be a potential age limit for the tournament. Theory 2: Do you honestly think that goten and trunks have it in themselves to kill possibly innocent fighters? I mean in the universe 6 arc we saw that the fighters barring frost weren't really bad people but rather challengers representing their universe. You saw when vegeta tortured cabba, it wasn't something that trunks liked watching. Not to mention they could be too sympathetic and get killed themselves which leads me to theory no 3. Theory 3: This is a game for survival. Would you honestly think that chichi and bulma would put their sons in a deathmatch for survival when there are much more capable fighters? I mean goku and vegeta are alive this time. I doubt that current vegeta would do the same thing that goku did in the buu saga. Theory 4: They have become way too reliant on fusion. They really don't do much alone anymore and fusion could possibly be prohibited. Not to mention with how arrogant gotenks is they would probably unfuse before could kill the target.

Theory 3: The voice actress for Goku, Goten, and Gohan doesn't want to voice 3 of essentially the same character cuz A: it'd be boring B: It'd be rly hard work. Since goten and trunks come hand in hand, it'd be impossible to have one without the other as one would get jealous of the other etc and if they did have one without the other, they'd probably get a massive wave of backlash from the fans cuz they won't get to see Gotenks.

MasterRedFTW I said they COULD bring back Cell Jr. or even Cell. This is Toriyama were talking about here. One of the most inconsistent anime writers of all time! They brought back Frieza, even though it was clearly stated earlier in DBZ, that people can only be wished back within one year of death, and can't be wished back more than once. Cell survived his own destruction and came back stronger than ever. If Toriyama wanted to, he could do the same for the Cell Jrs. They only need one cell, and Gohan didn't blast them like he did to Cell. He only punched and kicked them in half. They could even state that one of Super Perfect Cell's, cell survived in space, reformed into Cell again, and just hid from the Z fighters, or just have another mad scientist clone him or wish him back, or even have another time traveling Cell appear. Anything is possible at this point.

Cell doesn't have any ties to Universe 7. Unlike Freeza, He didn't own anything and/or didn't conquer anything. Hell, he had no problem blowing up Earth which is the only place he'd have ties to.Thus Cell would most likely be fine just going to live in the surviving universe. It also may not be in Freeza's cells that makes him grow stronger. It could just be something mental, like being an adept learner or something of that sort (even though it is most likely due to his cells).

I always wounder just how strong the humans could really get, lets say right after training with king kai, then train in that ship like Goku and Vegeta did, then took there turn in the hyperbolic time chamber, Hell even train with Whis, they may not have been as strong as the Goku and Vegeta because of that zenkai boast and transformations but they probably would have been pretty far up there in power. Jabril Lockhart Exactly. He never stopped training after the Cell saga and was able to survive Buu killing everyone on earth and was able to do some damage to Buu. Like you said, he never stopped training so he is without a doubt the strongest human on earth. I always see Krillin getting that title and I think think that's false. Krillin hasn't been the strongest human since the Trunks saga.

Andrew Ruiz I think people don't consider tien human, since he's a descendant of the triclops aliens. But if he could deflect a super ki blast from freaking buutenks without breaking a sweat. Granted buu wasn't trying to destroy anything except gohan and dende, but when you really think about it, exactly how much power would it take for ultimate or mystic gohan to be destroyed, and tien deflected it, so I'm not saying tien is super powerful, but I'd say by this point he's at least as strong as ssj gohan when he went 7 years without training. if not a little stronger. But for some strange reason everyone overlooks him🤔😲

Jabril Lockhart Tien is a tricky thing when it comes to what is he. In the japanese dub of Kai, Piccolo refers to Tien as an earthling. It's pretty open ended. I myself always just considered him human. But I agree with you, everyone overlooks him. I think he's proven himself standing up to Semi Perfect Cell and Buu. Thr fact he never stopped training should tell everyone that he is really the only relevant earthling besides maybe the Androids. My guess for why he's overlooked is because he hasn't had too much of a presence in the series since the Cell saga. I think people kinda forget about him.

Andrew Ruiz LoL he saved gohan's life from buutenks. That's pretty important. But if you really think about it, he's probably on par with the Androids, because trunks had to go ssj to beat him, and by that time, trunks was a mastered ssj. I'm almost willing to bet that trunks base form would give the Androids a hard time. on top of that, 18 said she's gotten a little rusty in her fight vs mighty mask, (I don't really know if she was speaking figuratively or literally to be honest) so obviously her and 17 needs either oiling or training in order to stay sharp. 17 basically has the same life as gohan in super, and 18 is basically videl, they both have basically left fighting behind. So I just don't see how tien hasn't caught them, or surpassed them by now. When you really sit down and analyze the situation.

This is just f*cking ridiculous. Not only we have no new fighters in universe 7 team from other planets, but they had to pick Roshi....really? Mr. Popo is stronger than Roshi. Tarbles is stronger than Roshi. Even the random warrior class Namekians are better than him. It would be better to bring new fighters from other planets. After all, Universe 7 is twin universe of 6, isn't it? Maybe somewhere there is an fighter similar to Hit, Botamk or Magetta. And what is wrong with it? Dbz was ALWAYS a comedy show, no matter what it always was a comedy show. If you don't agree with it then go and watch Death Note or Attack on Titan. For example, during the Frieza-Goku battle, there were many comedy scenes like Goku's butt being on fire, Goku biting Frieza's tail, etc. In the Cell games was Mr.Satan, and in the Buu saga Buu was the comedic one. Dragon ball as a series was never a serious anime.

Jowey de la Nota frieza conquered a lot of planets and so killed a lot of people especially those who might beat him in the future. also he had the ginyu force which was the strongest fighters of that universe he could find (they were frieza's super elite) and goku and vegeta killed/destroyed a lot of people who did not come from earth but were very strong like broly, bojack, cooler and frieza. so there might not be any other creatures in universe 7 who haven't been killed yet by our main characters

I can't remember if it's been answered before or not, but I suppose that's why I want to ask. Can someone grow stronger after they die? Say someone strong died, went to Other World, retained their body and continued to train for, well, years maybe even centuries. Could they grow stronger and by how much? I recall an episode or two (or maybe it was Fusion Reborn) where a dead Goku is training for the Other World tournament but I'm unsure about it. Thinking about how much time someone strong has to train and advance in Other World, maybe they could wish a really strong deceased U7 warrior back to life and use them in the tournament.

Guys remember between Frieza, his father and his empire the only people in the universe that were more powerful/feared than Frieza's clan were top tier gods like Beerus and Shin (in a big universe most people would believe them mere myths) or powerful magical beings like Majin Buu (who was sealed) and Dabura (who ruled the demon realm separate from the main universe). It's due to DBZ's plot why most of U7 top fighters are on Earth and why most of them are Z-fighters.
