So I bought one a while ago thanks to this (and a couple of other) video. I'm loving it but: protip for anybody who buys it: hook it up to your pc and do a firmware update. Most new units should come with the latest firmware but some don't, it makes a world of difference in sound quality.

I have some good free ones in my Helix, they truly are gamechangers. I got a nice Martin with some bulit in IR technology so I don't need it that much now, but with my other acustic guitars, including classical, the FOH sound is spectacular and no fuss with mics and feedback and phase issues - sweet!

This si the first review that shows the Mooer can actually sound decent I think most others are both user era and not the best sounds going into the thing, it can load custom IRs which means it should be able to get whatever tone an IR you like has. I want to advance my home-recording abilities. I am not sure how to understand IR Impulse Responses are over my head. I am a simple home recorder. Trying to catch up on technologies. I only use N Track for years I am not making money. I love guitar playing electric. Classical Guitarist performer teacher since 1973. Now I have a nice collection of vintage tube amplifiers. I have finally gotten pedals of several varieties. I have been using N Track since its beginning and I have recorded acoustic and electric guitar tracks and 1 with drums. I have a Ludwig drum kit. Also, I have 2 bass guitars. I use various acoustic parlor and regular-sized standard guitars.

Wow! At 12:00...that is THE sound. I have experimented some with running a heavy pedal (Amptweaker) into Two Notes Wall of Sound and the results have been fantastic. Like you, I lament that you can't host room IR's in the loaders. But I have been able to get great room sound simply making judicious use of a reverb plug-in. Killer demo Pete! I'm definitely buying a Radar for my home studio.
@jamesmiller98235 жыл бұрын
Hi, I saw your comment for this video and I wanted to ask you a question , I'm wanting to get a Amptweaker tight metal pro pedal and run it through a frfr powered speaker like the Headrush , do you think I would need something like this ,a amp simulator pedal , or will the Tight metal pro sound good just running it straight to the Headrush powered speaker ?
@MeTuLHeD5 жыл бұрын
@@jamesmiller9823 Thanks for asking. The Tight Metal Pro...like most distortion pedals...is basically just a high gain preamp in a box. Hence, it has no speaker simulation built in. While you could run the pedal straight into a full range powered speaker, it probably would not sound it's best. You would ideally want to run the Amptweaker into an amp/cab sim then into the powered speaker. The Mooer Radar (or something like it) would be perfect for that application. Two Notes CAB M is a new pedal and is another option. It is more expensive, but it has considerably more capabilities. It has a section which simulates a power amp stage and a separate section which emulates a speaker cab. It also has the added advantage of being able to load IR's with a longer tail unlike the Radar.
@jamesmiller98235 жыл бұрын
@@MeTuLHeD Thanks for your reply , thats kind of what I was thinking I would have to do .

I really want a Amptweaker tight metal pro they sound awsome to me, and James Brown is truly the godfather of tone and such a nice guy. I will gladly give him my money when I can afford one.
@MeTuLHeD5 жыл бұрын
@@jamesmiller9823 I bought mine used on Reverb and could not be happier with it. I also have a Diesel Herbert pedal. Between the two of them and a handful of plug-ins, I have high gain tones pretty well covered in my little studio. Looking to buy one of those little Mooer pedals for low to mid gain...probably the Power-Zone as it seems to nail those tones so well. Perhaps a Two Stones also.

I just got one of these. So far it sounds awesome using my acoustic with a magnetic pick-up through a Mesa Boogie style preamp / amp sim pedal (Joyo California) Forever clean AF sustain, ala Carlos. I own a Mesa Boogie Recto-verb 25 (1x12 combo) so I know exactly how that sort of thing sounds. The Radar does like an 85 -90% copy paired with the Joyo preamp, and another little clean boost pedal in front of it. By itself it's just the power-amp and speaker/cab simulation, so pre-amp is everything. It's more like a tribute to Mesa Boogie than a dead-wringer clone, but it's good. Damn good. And compact. And you don't have to crank it up to ear-bleed levels to get the proper tube saturation for those squeaky delicious overtones. I'm outputting it through a 50 watt SS Hartke ACR 12 acoustic combo amp, and again, it sounds great at bedroom volumes, and you can crank it up and it sounds even better - until the inevitable acoustic guitar feedback sets in - even with a magnetic pup when yer sitting 3' away from the thing.

Nice Pete.....Mooer is making some big statements with their gear. Micro amps with 2 channels 3 band eq, volume, gain and speaker emulation ??? Sound great and are dirt cheap. Bang, direct to the board less than the size of two fingers. The times are a changin..... I have been a guitar player my whole life. I am 67 and began at 16. I have seen all the greats that have passed on. When I was in college getting my music degree we had to read a book called making money making music. You have the time management down. Writing original tunes while demoing products while practicing solos, while learning all your software programs, while being exposed on the internet to many offers to record and tour, while getting free gear, while educating all of us with these new products and possible scenarios. It's a win-win-win-win......etc....I am sure you really need 4 lives simultaneously to take on all the offers.......Why tour if you can just stay home and do endorsements and always have perfect tone....The perfect job for peace and comfort in the music world. You have to be #1 call.... Congratulations on a wonderful career Pete Thorn....

Great demo! I may have to get one those for my backup board for FOH. And I've been messing around with with the Martin and Takamine 3 Sigma IRs too. I like to run a Takamine and Martin in parallel in my Helix. Like you say, they don't sound perfect with an electric, but they work. But I've noticed that when using the acoustic IRs, the more sterile or dry the humbucker sounds, the better. And I run them through guitar speakers too. It seems counter intuitive, but an EQ goes a long way in making it sound halfway convincing; just scoop the heck out of it.
