Love nunchucks for warm-up exercise and dexterity, and so far this video is one of the most comprehensive I've seen. Slow enough and easier to follow. On my first year I use kali/arnis for warm-up then later moved to nunchucks. It forces your brain and body to have better awareness otherwise you will hurt yourself and you will learn from those mistakes. Big thanks Sensei Elliott for the wonderful video.

I’am going to attempt to see if I can help, and I mean no ridicule the majority of practitioners miss the point by following the kata in which you learned because they are only useful to teach you the form and procedure until you really get the feel and handling after that it is up to you to advance to the next level by freeing your mind by not being locked in by sticking the repetitive mechanical moves, you have to learn to be fluid and strike in the simplest form instead of going all the way around the circle to strike you can just cut across the circle directly hitting your target thus by striking first in the shortest amount of time, as an example if you watch Bruce lee strike you should get the point, by “ discarding what is not useful and keeping what is useful.

I guess it all boils down to daily training. The nunchuk should become a part of you.

Far too many people simply don't get this. Ahnold tells us, :"There is no magic pill, YOU MUST DO THE WORK". Stick with the fundamentals.

At what level should you use two nunchaku?
@jordanaguirre58133 жыл бұрын
Seeing as poi is started with 2 I’d say youre fine to start with 2 if for show. If for actual self defense learning, 1 until youre equally as good in each hand

the level all of you guys are in has nothing to to with the level of bruise lee all of that fancy stuff is meaningless in a fight. All the swinging. Listen I can can use them just like a gun just point it at you and it’s all over. I’m not bragging because I’ve done all that, thus this is another level period.

This guy has no clue how to actually use nunchucku as a weapon. This flashy stuff is good for putting on a show, that's about it.
@ateam3884 жыл бұрын
Travis Williams It sounds like you are pretty good. I would love a link to your nunchuck demo.
@Getloose3604 жыл бұрын
Its good exercise and technique building, but not for real world. Agree
@TravisWilliams_4 жыл бұрын
Getloose360 I wouldn’t even say good technique, he isn’t even holding them properly for practical use. You don’t hold the nunchuck right at the junction point. There’s a huge difference between flashy trick usage and practical use. This stuff should be stopped being taught.
@TravisWilliams_4 жыл бұрын
A Team I was taught to use it as a weapon not a demo baton. I don’t do this flashy stuff. All this is is comp demo stuff.
@ateam3884 жыл бұрын
Travis Williams I have been practicing the nunchucks for 25 years. The traditional technique is the basics. Everyone should learn. Then there is sparring technique. Then there is freestyle (open or creative) technique. Self-defense technique too. They all have a purpose. Every which way of using the nunchucks has a different hand placement. There is short chain which I’m not a fan of, but typically designed for flashy forms. When I watch this video everyone is commenting on, I see a few alignment mistakes, but it’s all good. Nothing but love for the nunchuck community. Looks like your passionate about the nunchucks and that’s cool. I think after the first 10 years of practicing the martial arts all the tradition and ancient way talk gets old, so I was burnt out of that a long time ago. However my obsession for the nunchucks lives on.✌🏻
