Mookie talks about the humbling experience playing with Shohei Ohtani, the White Sox losing 121 games, the Dodgers being favored to win the World Series, immersing himself in baseball, playing pickleball with strangers at the park, not being a fan of the team hotel in Milwaukee because it’s said to be haunted, and Dodgers having specific celebration moves.

Mookie Betts, future hall of famer and deserves the spotlight! While I love Shohei Ohtani, I feel like the constant comparisons can sometimes overshadow Mookie's incredible talent and contributions to the game. I appreciate both of these legends!! Here's to hoping they both shine in the playoffs and winning the world series!! 🏆

I'm Japanese. I'm a big fan of Shohei Ohtani, and he was the reason I started supporting the Dodgers. However, I felt sad when I watched this program. Why are they praising Ohtani when Mookie is on the show? It's disrespectful to Mookie.

i watched the whole thing on my tv. am i the only one that felt like kimmel is trying to downplay mook? he's also a stellar player. we dodgers fans are happy to have both mook and sho on our team, discussions about whos the greatest and all that is very very lame when its only their first year playing together.. couldve worded so many things better but it seemed like youre only asking questions to offend mookie on purpose. hope mook doesnt take it to the heart. sucks too when ive seen shohei repeatedly gave mookie his flowers on media times. youre messing with these players chemistry.

This is awful, Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of this show deserve to go to hell. So freakin disrespectful towards Mookie. This is also one of the reasons why Shohei Ohtani keeps getting unnecessary hate. They don't deserve this.
@Heybrotruthhurts
@Heybrotruthhurts 2 сағат бұрын
I dont think this is a valid reason why ppl hate on ohtani though, this is the first time that someone has used Ohtani to put another player down by comparing their stats like this. It's fine to ask questions about Ohtani since everyone is curious but don't embarass the person you're asking by comparing them.
@jiy_an

With all due respect, inviting Mookie while pitting him against a teammate whom he very much respect is just not it. Both can be great at the same time, not sure why you don't ask him more of himself instead since he has a lot of materials to be asked about. Also, Ohtani has never been absent to give Mookie his flowers on lots of Japanese interviews. This is a very classless interview. I feel sorry for both Mookie and Ohtani cause this kind of BS gotta be so mentally exhausting for both of them.

As an Angels/Shohei fan, this is what Mike Trout kinda had to deal with as well. It bums me out because it's not Shohei's fault he's a once in a generation talent, but asking his MVP teammates endless questions about another athlete's feats is just awkward. I definitely understand how both of them would feel weird answering the same questions over and over.
@Heybrotruthhurts
@Heybrotruthhurts 2 сағат бұрын
Perfectly said what I was thinking, feel like Kimmel is trying to cause drama or tension right before the playoffs...They're teammates who obviously respect each other a lot and Ohtani has used every chance he gets to praise Mookie even before they were teammates (ie: when asked who impressed him the most last year Ohtani answered Mookie). Just lame to embarass your guest by using his teammate.
@Heybrotruthhurts
@Heybrotruthhurts 2 сағат бұрын
@@mikayocc Nah I think its the manner in which Kimmel did it in, he was comparing mookie to Sho and putting him down basically. It's fine if he just asks him about Sho (bc everyone is curious for good reason) but there's no need to compare their stats and purposefully putting Mook down.

Mookie is confident in himself to not be bothered by that. Of course Jimmy is going to ask about Ohtani - he’s one of the main reasons they’re in the playoffs. I love Mookie, but let’s not forgot that Ohtani carried that team while Freddie & Mookie were gone, among others, for most of the 2nd half of the season. Ohtani rarely takes a day off, not even the last few days when they had nothing to play for. Don’t hate the player.😉

I felt a bit off when Jimmy suddenly asked about Shohei Ohtani. Mookie had already accomplished an incredible 30-30 season in the past, but the conversation quickly shifted to Ohtani hitting 54 home runs, stealing 59 bases, and how he’s supposedly faster than Mookie. Still, I thought Mookie handled it really well and showed a lot of maturity. It was strange to hear Ohtani questions when the focus should’ve been on Mookie. Let’s go Dodgers! Keep it up, Mookie!

And wishing Freddie Freeman a speedy recovery from that ankle injury! We need him back on the field. Oh, and here's to Shohei Ohtani making magic happen and finally snagging his first playoff appearance after a historic season. Rooting for the entire team, coaches, staff, and anyone involved in making it all happen. Shoutout to Joe Davis, as a growing fan of baseball, his commentating after a homerun gets me hyped.
