Definition of Ek “You are the wave of the oneness like a wave in an ocean . All that exists are the various forms of one. Understand Ek and you understand the spiritual journey of every tradition. One plus one equals to one. There is never room for two . You can not create two you just get more of one- just like two drop of water when they combine . Everyline in the Gurugranth sahib ji relate to Ek”

So, in the Oneness we are no different on an ultimate level from Guru Nanak Dev Ji? That "finger" just realized it was a part of the hand and saw the other fingers correctly. Guru Nanak Dev Ji and we are one.

It is quite obvious that this Brahm Gyan that you are imparting here came through much tapasya. The way you have explained what moolmantra means to each of us on a personal basis, is something that is hardly ever discussed. Very well done! So grateful to Waheguru for speaking through you in such simple and direct words. You are God sent; especially for the young seekers who prefer the English medium. Guru ji has blessed you with a comprehensive knowledge of Sikhi as well as other religions and this universal connection is a magnet that will bring this Brahm Gyan to so many, may your sewa flourish, Chardi kala always!!!

Ik in Dutch means I Me myself and I The root of humans is their ego. All expression comes from the inside. The good and bad. I Am God is Energy. No need to glorify humans above humanity. There are no other god and saints. But it's a anker for some people. They don't know better and ok if it won't harm others.

Amazing explanation! I always had trouble with the "Mr God" thing ... so your understanding really helps ! the word "God" comes from dualistic biblical traditions such as Jewish Christian and Islam . That's why the word "God" is misleading and very limited ...and I never liked using it .

Ask your self - is there *life* in this room ? Is there the *Universe* in this room? The same life energy (Jyot)that is in you is in an ant , a plant another person . vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh, amazing katha ji, just had a question: you talk about how "I am me complete in myself" and that if there was a clone it would still be only one "me" even though it may look/sound like me etc.. but then you say that we've created a duality where we think we say "im sitting on this side of the room, somebody else is on that side of the room, that's not me" *so if we shouldn't have duality then how can we recognise that "i am me in myself"*... if that makes sense lol sorry ji just a bit confused. vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh

When you go in the path of self realisation Then you start to understand gurbani Gurbani is to know yourself Aap maar gurumukh haar paye Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji, prakash number 906 You have two minds Dobhida You have to become one mind to know yourself Ek Maan ek chit or Suhagan Suhagan (the person who's mind does not go outside unknowingly) hence you read gurbani and understand it with asking yourself what has the Guru meant by saying it not what you think or is translated Love to All 🙏💛

Saloni Gulati dear sister, first of all he is not a guru, but a singh of guru. Another thing is we have been in comfort of seeking worldly pleasure by way of desires, lust, anger, attachment. We don't realise that whom we are searching for actually is omnipresent. We are just reflection of that supreme consciousness. But we don't go beyond our body, as that supreme consciousness is not the subject of senses. Like we are unable to experience a pain of other if we have not gone through it. experiencing god is in same way,no body can show you the god in this world other then yourself ☝🙏

I am sorry to say that some of the things you have said do not make sense, you seem to label universe and everything in it as God, but you should know that God is the creator, the creator of the universe, he is the cause of creation, yet he is present in everything, in everyone, but the universe and we are not present in him, So let me rephrase this, God is in us, but we are not in God, God indeed is seperate though he is one, and everything emanated from that one, so let me further explain to you using your finger analogy, God forbids, but if one of your fingers of one hand gets cut off, you can say that you are in that finger but that finger is not in you, that finger is now separated from you, yet you created it, it was once part of you, but is now detached from you, so you cannot say that finger is Satpal, that finger was once part of Satpal, now it is no longer part of you, it is now independent, so it is up to the finger if it has any power to think, i.e. the intelligence to think (conscious) to seek who made it, or who was its creator, that is you, please try to ponder on this thought a little deeper. Secondly just as you said about ocean and waves, it is large volume of water that makes ocean yet smaller amount of water is not ocean, yes ocean has waves, but waves are not ocean, you can get waves in a swimming pool, you would not call it an ocean, but if you take one wave out of that ocean, you cannot say that water you collected from the one wave is ocean, but it was part of that ocean, so same way we are all part of that One God, but we are not God any more, we once were before we were created. That is why when we leave our material bodies here on earth our spiritual (our soul is part of that divine's supreme infinite soul energy) so our soul goes to its true home the source from where it came. same way water runs back into ocean and evaporates and falls down as rain and runs back into the ocean, same way our life cycles between life and deaths. End of the day , before his creation came into being, God alone existed, or God existed all alone, besides him there was not a single other thing, not a single atom that existed apart from Him in his invisible mighty form, shapeless, formless, invisible to everything, there was nothing else besides Him, so when he decieded to start a creation, or creation of a physical universe, He first had to work out how he was going to do that, what resources he would need, where would he get them from? But for God and his intellect, it was a child's play, He used his infinite Energy to create matter out of it, of course universe did not just mushroom out of Nothing ! but out God's mighty and powerful Infinite Energy, I prefer to call it Divine Energy since God is super Conscious and has total command over his Energy, both His conscious and Energy are intertwined as one single entity, both exist together, and each cannot exist alone. Just as a coin has two faces, a coin cannot exist with just one face, So God is Divine invisible mighty Energy, the root of all creation, as God is the highest intellectual entity, he ordered or commanded his own divine energy to spring into action and start the creation process, as per his grand design or plan. So in order for Him to create a universe so vast as it is, with trillions of galaxies, each with billions of stars and planetary systems, his process of creation is still going on, galaxies are being born and many are being destroyed, God is busy , he laid rules, we call laws of Physics, space and time came into being, atoms emerged, creating gravity, magnetism, these atoms had no free will, they obeyed God given rules, just as a magnet has been given rules we call property such that it will no matter what it cannot refuse to attract ferrous metals, yet it has been instructed not to attract to nonferrous metals or paper or plastics, and it will never ever attract to them, just as we expect light bulb to turn on when we switch it on, (Provided the bulb is good and wiring and electricity is present, it will obey our command) so same way out of his invisible energy sprang out tiniest of tiny particles, they grouped together as instructed, to form atoms, which in turn combined with different atoms to form different elements, which further clumped together to form stars, and planets, then gasses and liquids and solid matter was formed, then with heat and light and water biological life sprang into action, all having emanated from that One infinite highly intellect entity. His grand design did not fail to work as he intended, just as we design a car engine and assemble all its parts and once it is complete and we provide fuel and air we expect it to fire up and spring into action, it has no free will to stop unless a part of it broke down. We have free will , all animals have free will, all plants have free will, but at the same time like our car engine some part of our body goes wrong and we fall ill and we die eventually, nothing is forever apart from the supreme energy that can never be created nor destroyed, so God indeed is Energy, whole earth is powered by our Sun, which was again created by God, so everything emanated from that Almighty Invisible Energy, we call God, we are seperate from him and we are made out of his energy, so you can say God is in us but we cannot be in him, that is why most of us are seeking the ultimate truth, where is he and how does he look, or what is he made of, can he hear us, can he see us, can we hear him, so this is why it is very important to first understand who we are, what is our purpose, who is God, how did he create this universe and where did he get the raw materials to form this universe, I do not think Mool Mantar says what or how you describe, if you listen to Giani Maskeen Ji's explanation, I am more inclined to agree with his translations.

• "Ik" • The Mool Mantar serves as a defining expression of oneself, delving into the core of human existence. • "Ek" defines oneness, emphasizing that oneness exists in everything. • The number 1 is a complete number, reflecting the completeness of God. Oneness is the opposite of 2, where there cannot be 2 when there is 1. • The idea of merging with God introduces duality-there is "I" and there is God. However, the essence lies in recognizing that everything is one; you are not part of oneness, you are the oneness. • Life is likened to a wave in the ocean, emphasizing that you are the wave of oneness. • Various fingers arguing about their connection to the hand symbolize the delusion of individuality, highlighting that you are not separate from oneness. • Individuality is considered the biggest disease, and the Guru is the cure. The use of "I" and "me" perpetuates the disease. • All that exists takes various forms of the one, challenging dualistic thinking. • The beginning of statements with "I am" when trying to merge with God introduces automatic duality. There isn't a separate "you" and a separate "God" that you're trying to reach. • Understanding "Ek" is essential for comprehending the Guru Granth Sahib and the spiritual journey of every tradition. • Duality is created even in the spiritual journey when stating "I am trying to get to God." • Questions based on dualistic thinking, such as why bad things happen if there is a God within us, lack a correct foundation. • The concept of becoming one with oneness introduces dualistic thinking-there is "I" and there is oneness. • The term "I am a sinner" is considered egotistical due to the inclusion of "I am." • The statement "I am not even here" challenges the expectation of existence and explores the false nature of the self. • The analogy of 1 + 1 equals 1 emphasizes the oneness of existence, rejecting the idea of 2. • The analogy of drops of water complaining when combined highlights the unity inherent in oneness. • Every line in Gurbani must align with the definition of "Ik," as it is the answer to every spiritual path. • While understanding "Ek" may not make sense initially, it is a truth that takes time to grasp. • Asking the right questions based on oneness, not duality, is crucial. • Guru Nanak provides the answer at the start of Gurbani-Ik. • Questions about not feeling a part of oneness stem from the delusion of separation ingrained over time. • Messages of individuality and separation bombard individuals constantly. • Dressing like a saint may inadvertently create ego by signalling a desire for attention. • The emphasis is on personal identity rather than Mr. God. • Saying "I am a Gurmukh" without self-awareness contradicts the essence of being a Gurmukh. • Guru Nanak encourages self-reflection to understand personal identity before comprehending God. • Conditioning to think in terms of duality and separation challenges the realization of oneness. • The analogy of a fish unable to understand water illustrates the difficulty of comprehending oneness. • Bani repeatedly emphasizes that everywhere one sees, everything is a manifestation of God. • Realizing the truth is akin to Darshan, opening the curtains of ego to recognize the ever-present God. • Believing in one's existence is false thinking, as the focus should be on recognizing the omnipresence of God. • The mind creates distinctions based on likes and dislikes, contributing to dualistic thinking. • Chanting "Waheguru" with the expectation of God showing up introduces dualistic thinking. • The culprit hindering connection with God is the belief in "I am." God is already present; the challenge is to lift the curtains of ego. • God does not need time to reveal Himself if one looks for Him in the right way. • The key question is how to walk in the right direction to attain Darshan, emphasizing the Sikh path. • Expecting God to show up during meditation with dualistic thinking contradicts the essence of the practice. • Addressing the one looking for God becomes crucial in shifting from dualistic to oneness thinking. • Recognizing where God isn't becomes a vital question, challenging the conditioned dualistic perspective. • Changing thinking and understanding is necessary to realize that God is here, right now. • A story of a holy man not eating, and a rich man offering bread to a dog, highlights the perspective that God is both the provider and the one being provided for. • All that exists is God, not Mr. God; everything is God. • Changing the term "God" to "universe" emphasizes the omnipresence of the universe. • The same life energy, referred to as "jot," is present everywhere, even in a dead person. • The path to oneness is simple, requiring a change in perception and a shift in the way of looking at things. Summary: The concept of "Ik" in the Mool Mantar is profound, serving as the foundational definition of human existence. "Ik" emphasizes oneness, the completeness of the divine represented by the number 1. It stands in contrast to duality, where the perception of separation arises. The analogy of fingers arguing over their connection to the hand illustrates the delusion of individuality. The disease of separation is countered by understanding that "You are not separate from oneness." Guru Nanak's emphasis on "Ik" challenges dualistic thinking prevalent in spiritual paths. The challenge lies in overcoming conditioned beliefs of individuality and realizing that "Everything is one. Only oneness and no duality." The analogy of a fish unable to comprehend water echoes the challenge of understanding oneness. Recognizing the divine light within oneself, the "Jot," is the key to dispelling the delusion of separation. Ultimately, the shift from dualistic to oneness thinking requires a transformation in perception and a realization that "It is here, right now." The path to Darshan involves lifting the curtains of ego and understanding that "God is already here." The essence lies in the simplicity of recognizing that "All that exist is god. Not Mr. god, but god." The journey to oneness is not about calling upon a separate entity but acknowledging the divinity inherent in every aspect of existence.
