MOON CAKE PRESS & BATH BOMBS ~ By Misty Springs Bath & Body LLC

In this video I will show how I do my bath bombs, I have received some wonderful tips from the experts. I am in no way an expert, I do have a couple tips you may or may not have known.
I hope I can make your bath bomb making fun instead of frustrating.
I hope you enjoy the video. Happy bath bomb making.
There are many recipes for making bath bombs.
This is the one I use.
~~ 2 cups baking soda, 1 heaping cup citric acid, 1/4 cup Epsom salt. Sift to make sure there are no lumps. 1 Tbsp. Light oil, 1 tsp. Poly 80, 2 tsp. fragrance oil, 91% Alcohol for spraying. Be sure to have a spray bottle that has a fine mist. Mica for color.
If using Lake color you do not need the Poly 80, replace it with 1 tsp. additional oil.
note: You can add 1Tbsp. of Cream of tarter if you like.
For the mooncake bombs you can ( lightly mist ) the tops with Alcohol
Your bath bombs should be hard within a couple of Hrs. BUT leave them sit over night.

Try pressing your mixture in the moon cake mold and not press so hard when releasing it won’t be so flat and press them out on a lined cookie sheet and don’t pick them up I love ❤️ using moon cake molds too they are awesome

Your so welcome, I know bath bombs can be frustrating. I like doing no more than the 2 cup amount so it does not dry out on me too much. I hope you have success with your bath bombs. Have fun.

I really like the flower one!!! I bought about 5 sets of thoseMC molds after seeing the soaping nightowl. Too bad I didn't see one like that flower one you have. Not buying more but I hope the newness oof the design will help sell my bath bombs at the market this year. Love them.....

Hi there - great video. I’m wondering how you get your mixture to not stick to the moon press mold? I have tried adjusting the oil mixture but I find the only thing that works is to sprinkle some baking soda in the mold on the first go. The only problem with that is the tops of the bath bomb are a little whitish as I do not use colour.

You shouldn't have a problem with getting soap out of a mold. More baking soda may help, not oil. Good luck.

Sorry Probably not. Glad I could help. Once you get the moisture right bath bombs are fun. I'm not an expert. There are so many recipes for making bath bombs. You can add almost anything to a bath bomb as long as you get the moisture right. Thanks for watching.

I tried to make my own in ball shape but it turned out so crumbly. :( I tried putting in more water but when I molded it, there was fizzies coming out from the edge of the mold. Any tips how to make my bath bomb hard as rock? Thanks a lot in advance.

Wow, thanks for all the great tips! I barely ever make bath bombs except for every now and then when my son and nephews will request some to go with their Fruit Loops Soap. May I ask why embeds? Are they the reason bath bombs shoot out different colors? Again, thanks for all the great tips. I learned a LOT!

Hi Cyndi, You do use embeds to have other colors shoot out. I keep trying to get it right, I just haven't gotten that down yet. My Bath bombs foam too much. Glad I could help. Have fun making them. Your so welcome.

The different ingredients in the embeds will make different colors shoot out of your Balm depending on where you place them ( very important). As well as move your BB.

Thanks and thanks for the very good question. When using mica as I did, I use poly 80. This keeps the mica from sticking to the tub. If you use Lake color you do not need the poly 80.

Mica will stick to the tub and Lakes will not. You need to use Poly 80 with mica and with lakes you do not need it.

Mica will not stick to the tub if you use poly 80 to my understanding. It has been suggested by other balm makers that when using Lakes to use the SLSA.

Why did you only add the SLSA to one color???

You can by all means add it to the entire batch. I just wanted to try something different. I had been using a full Tbsp. and it was way too much. I was a bit leery about having 1 tsp SLSa be too little in the entire batch for fear it would not foam enough. I tested one of the bath bombs and had lots of suds. This makes me feel it will be ok to add the SLSa to the entire batch, But only after you have added the oil. Put it under the mixed ingredients to mix it in. This keeps it from being air born.
