The gold street performer is in fact a actual character in the comics named Crawley. In the comics he's a "informant" for Marc that he gets information from. He's been depicted as a homeless person who Marc befriended in the past

As someone who has been a fan of Moon Knight for years, these first two episodes have been incredible and I’m for the most part extremely satisfied. The Lemire Moon Knight run is one of my favorite comic runs of all time, and imo is the definitive Moon Knight story in many ways. And I’m really happy they’re taking the time to focus on the psychological aspects of the character first, taking their time to establish the character and all his different alters. He’s a very complex character that for newer audiences not familiar with his source material, would need some time to ease into. There has been some changes from the comics, primarily when it comes to Steven and, for the time being, Mr. Knight (altho I feel that will develop in time). But honestly I think they’re mostly for the better. And this episode basically confirmed that Marc is the original host like the comics. There’s lots of evidence in this episode especially pointing to that fact. Overall I’m extremely happy with this series so far

24:50. I'm pretty sure the staff is just actual magic, like Dr. Strange, the Ancient One, Wong, Loki, Sylvie, Agatha and (occasionally) Wanda use. Loki kind of danced around the idea in Avengers 1 and the first Thor movie, but Dr Strange really opened the doors to magic being REAL in the MCU - and ancient.

That actually makes me very happy. That means we don’t have to worry about origins, which just mucks up stories in my opinion.

So far its a great start to a new series. Oscar is killing it on screen, you can literally see the change in his face as he portrays each character, its impressive. Now I want to see how they handle the gods. In the comics Khonsu only cared about his desires, people didn't matter only his justice. I wonder what doors this opens for the pantheon of other gods they could introduce. I'm excited for the future!

Hey, funnylilgal! The key moment of this episode was that Steven refused Harrow on the basis of his own moral convictions apart from any influence by Khonshu or Spector! The Steven persona may be a milquetoast nebbish but he has a firm belief in what is right and what is wrong. A hero in his humblest state. This is the hallmark of all MCU characters except the misbegotten Captain Marvel. Her depiction was a betrayal of her character. The MCU version requires a major humbling to just be interesting now. The dapper three-piece suit known as Mr. Knight is from the more recent Jeff Lemire run on the comic that has Marc locked up in a sanitarium for a good bit! The bus's serial number was WBN 0032 which is an Easter Egg for Moon Knight's debut issue "Werewolf By Night" #32! Layla is original to the show. Marlene Alraune is Marc's archaeologist girlfriend in the comics who is extremely frustrated by his DID but can't get enough of the Spector prime persona! I hope the deaths of the archaeological team in Egypt means we'll get Raoul Bushman in the show because he's vicious! Marc was one of those bodies but he was resurrected by Khonshu. I sure hope Bertrand Crawley, the golden mime, gets to talk at some point because his speeches are the most grandiloquent things ever! I sure hope we get the third persona of Jake Lockley before the show is done. If Moon Knight is Marvel's Batman and Steven Grant, in the comics, is Bruce Wayne, then Jake Lockley is 'Matches' Malone, Bruce Wayne's undercover street disguise!
@respect_zy

I don't think we will get Jake Lockley this season cuz I don't think six episodes is enough, but I do think they will set him up in a post credit scene tho! He had to be one to set up that date in the first episode.

I liked the fact that the jackal and whatnot are invisible to mortals because it also gives the greater MCU the reason why the supernatural has been around forever, just most people can't see it. I think Khonshu is just using Layla as a leash for Marc. Especially because Harrow might give Steven a way out. Though I suspect Harrow might have been blipped and Khonshu found Marc during the five years, so Harrow was upset when he returned when Ammit found him.

I totally forgot about the blip! That would actually be really interesting. I too like the fact that no one can see the jackal. I only worried about it because Steven didn’t seem like he could handle it. But then he had that punch and he found that courage in himself ❤️.

Hey comical. I get it. Because comics 😎 I kind of love how much of a dick khonshu is to Marc, just being as terrifying as he can be to scare the shit out of him. He basically is exactly what Arthur describes, but he's better than Ammit. He's not planning on wiping out "evildoers", he's been doing his job, he's not a threat to humanity, that's why the Ennead never ganged up on him but they all killed Ammit.

The thing is, if Amit’s ability is legit in being able to tell the future, then I don’t think she’s wrong. But if there’s even a slight chance she can be wrong, then they shouldn’t be wiping people out. It entirely depends if they’re operating on faulty knowledge or not. So far, nobody has said whether or not Amit’s future sight is legit or not.

It also interesting to see your Videos after the finals. It doesn't matter if it is Moonknight, Hawkeye or Obi Wan. In every of these Episodes, when you talking before and after it, i can say:" yes you are right" or " no, that will not happen". It is realy interesting how many times you were right. In this episode i must laughing when Steven falling down and shouted "Suit,Suit, Suit". That was funny. I also enjoyed it when Leyla arrived. May Calamawy is such a beauty ( i'm a men i have also needs like you as a women ;) ) It makes also real fun to see Oscar playing those different characters, so i agree you and after this episode i started to like Arthur too. Marc is the main personality and Steven is one of his other personalities (in the comics Steven was originally a billionaire businessman). For example, the "suit" is actually one of his other personalities (which was introduced in the comics in 2014-2015), Mr. Knight, who is a detective consultant on crime scenes. Also, the military bunker makes sense since Marc was a marine before he became a mercenary.

@DazHotep6EQUJ5 2 жыл бұрын
@@FullMetalB Hahaha I see where you're coming from but I have to disagree. I loved that freeze frame, the camera work was stellar in this episode as well, utilising reflections and inverted camera angles like I've never seen before. The whole episode is very comic book inspired. Who's acting dropped off exactly? No way you can say Ethan hawke or Oscar Isaacs acting was bad. And what dialogue were you referring to specifically? Or was that just a broad generalisation based off maybe one scene you didnt like?
@DazHotep6EQUJ5
@DazHotep6EQUJ5 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say a huge step up, but it was definitely as entertaining as the first one.
@FullMetalB
@FullMetalB 2 жыл бұрын
@@DazHotep6EQUJ5 Yes, other than the few mirror scenes the rest of the camera work was very uninspired. Tilting the camera up to show something in the background isn't exactly note worthy cinematography. Especially after the 10th time.. Konshu scene un the storage facility was mostly fantastic but that freeze frame was so ridiculous. It's like 90s goosebumps vhs level of cringy. But yes, Oscar Isaac's acting 100 percent dipped this episode. Not in every scene but even right from the beginning his Steven felt completely different talking to the security guard. The Mr. Knight scene was just the most glaringly obvious scene with horrible acting from Isaac and with the worst dialouge "sTeVeN wItH a V". Maybe I'm not capable of being moved by an actor just sitting and providing straight exposition to the audience. Maybe if you are Daniel day Lewis or Christoph waltz then you can still blow it out of the water but sadly I don't feel Ethan hawk did at all. This felt fully "mcu tv show" where the first episode did not at all. Also don't care for the actress playing Layla. Her weird yelling dialouge even on the phone in the first episode felt odd and not like an actual person. Then they introduced her in this episode in the same "im yelling and trying to act confused" kind of way. I feel a better actor or even just better dialouge could make that more convincing and less awkward. Like I said, it's not all bad but on a whole it's a MASSIVE and unfortunate drop in quality. That I was kind of expecting cause marvel has been getting in its own way lately. Edit: just saw your "broad generalizations based on one scene you didn't like" comment. Wish I would seen that part first to know what kind of angle you were commenting from. Second edit: "like I've never seen before" I'd wager that's a huge indicator as to the reason for our different opinions.

Bit late to the party and only discovered your channel today...I have this crazy theory that Harrow's staff is partially powered by a combinstion of Chaos magic and also Vibranium given the close-ish proximity of Wakanda to Egypt and that the Wakandan god Bast is possible related somehow to Khonshu or Ammitt..! The staff has a purple glow...Wanda's Chaos magic is red... Vibranium gives of a blue glow.... Red + Blue = Purple...! My other even more crazier theory is that the time of Thanos' snap, Steven was in control and when he came back, given his disorder, he became the dominant Alter instead of Marc.. 🤔🤔

Remember, Ammit is OLD school - fate, NOT free will. Not saying she's RIGHT, but she wouldn't see it as pre-judgement - she KNOWS their fate. And aside from the sheer beauty with which they're shooting it, the subtlety of the avatar being the only one who can see what's going on is (I'm guessing purposefully) making me think of the phrase "god-touched" - used to describe those suffering from mental illness in some places in times long gone. As an explanation for crazy behaviour it would've made sense, and it likely was kinder than some of the alternative ways of dealing with it, because it was bad luck to mess with those "touched by the gods"...

It's a tough call regarding who's body it actually is. Khonschu said he found Marc as a corpse (dead), and thus did he put his soul in someone else's body... and even go so far as to change that body to reflect Marc's since obviously his wife Layla recognizes him. At this point I think that anyone who is possessed as Khonschu's Avatar loses their mind somewhat (as Harrow called that out right away), and in this case we have split personalities. LOL, BUT in the comics there is a 3rd one too... so will be fun to see if Marvel does that one as well.

21:32 Khonshu is not that good of a god. What Harrow said about Khonshu is actually true. In the big picture what Khonshu wants is good, and what Marc decides to do for Khonshu/with his powers is also good. But Khonshu isn't a "good guy". He has his own agenda, manipulates, uses humans, he cares more about his squabbles with other gods than humans. Marc is there to make the Moonknight a hero character. Even if he's more willing to do questionable stuff for good ends, at the end of the day Marc is a good guy who wants to help people.

Liking this show too! I used to be a huge fan of DC’s early 1990s run of “The Spectre”, who is the Abrahamic-like deity’s spirit of righteous vengeance delivering gruesome and brutal, but “just” punishment to certain evil doers. In that comic The Spectre is bound to the body and spirit of a hard boiled, but honest police detective who was murdered by the mob. So, the resurrected cop serves as The Spectre’s avatar and The Spectre’s unquenchable thirst of righteous vengeance, which was programmed with an Old Testament mentality, is moderated to something closer to a New Testament sensibility through the cop’s humanity. Disney+ MCU-TV’s “Moon Knight” is giving me “The Spectre” vibe with a Marvel twist (characters who are more nuanced, vulnerably relatable, and significantly more powered down). Oscar Issacs is awesome in general, but really nailing the duel personality of his character as he performs. I’m a little on the other side of you in hoping Steven is the primary personality and Marc Spector is either a secondary personality or the essence of someone that Khonshu bound to Steven as a second personality. However, I’d bet you are more likely right since Marc has a U.S. Passport, a estranged wife, and we never have seen Steven actually interact in person or by phone with his Mom (I only remember him leaving Mum voicemails). In this kind of really screwed up world we are now living in, especially with my memories of the post-cold war promise of a more peaceful and just world souring over the years since to the point that 2022 is a time of brutal slaughter, bigotry, environmental devastation, factionalism, and mistrust; I kind of get the whole Ammit appeal and think it’s a timely debate to think about conceptually in fiction (that why those “Thanos was right” swag sells). But I’m solidly on Steven’s side in such a debate, as I was on Steve Roger’s side and your side about eliminating evildoers before they do evil, and like him even more as a character for calling Harrow and his followers out on the ugly side of Ammit’s mentality. Anyhoo! Great reaction and looking forward to Episode 3 and rewatching with your reaction. Until next time, stay awesome!

It is interesting where our loyalties lie. At first, we are Team Steven. We get to know him and start to feel for his struggles. He's the one being plagued with disassociative identity disorder (DID). We meet Marc's wife, Layla...and Steven (and us) feel Marc must be a jerk...to want to divorce Layla. Then, we come to the place where we WANT Marc to take over. Then we hear all the things that Marc has done. We then, start to wonder IF we really want Marc to take over. Yes, in times of fighting, for he is VERY handy, especially with "the suit". Then we also see that Marc is trying to distance himself from Layla...so that Konchu will not make HER his next Avatar...for she is no shrinking violet, she's a badass (with some skills). Also, while Steven was Mr. Knight (in the dinner suit), she stepped up and fought Ammet's jackel...even though she couldn't really see it. She's got agency, and she uses it. Then, when Marc is in charge, he starts to see...whoever is in charge of the body, is getting stronger...and even shatters the mirror (reflection), lessening the power of influence that Steven has...while Marc is in charge. Very interesting. Also, the idea, that Konchu may not be a good god, either. We definitely do NOT want Ammet to be in charge, but do we really want Konchu in charge. Is what Arthur Harrow says...that there is ALWAYS one MORE mission...and that Konchu lies to his avatars to keep stringing them along...to do his bidding on earth? Hmmmm. Marc is trying to BARGAIN with Konchu, which seems odd, to bargain from a place of weakness...for Marc, though talented, has no real bargaining power over Konchu. IF what Arthur Harrow said, that he USED to be Konchu's avatar, how can Marc be released? and in turn, make sure that Layla isn't Konchu's NEXT avatar? I think we will see Marc more often, from now on...so as to do Konchu's bidding, staving off Konchu's desire for Layla, but also keeping Steven from abandoning the entire thing...effectively offering up Layla to be taken over by Konchu. It then begs the question...that Arthur Harrow said...did Konchu take Steven/Marc BECAUSE his mind was easily taken over...because of his weakend mind...OR because he broke it/it was already broken? It is interesting to hear Arthur speak, for he speaks in truths (scary...judgements obviously with Ammet's power...to judge BEFORE the crime is committed), but he does seem sane, between the two of them. I agree, I think that Marc is the main one, but it could be the other way around. It really is a chicken/egg idea. Hmmm. I think that Arthur judged the homeless man, via Ammet...and found him lacking (like the old lady in the previous episode), though we didn't see him using the cane as the scales of judgement...but that may ONLY be for the theatrics in front of a crowd. Interesting idea. Also, IF Arthur WAS Konchu's avatar previously (which I'm not totally buying), for wouldn't Ammet have judged him for all the murder that he did in Konchu's name...before becoming an acolyte of Ammet? It is interesting to pile on to Marc being the original and Steven being the alternate...for all of Steven's talents/strengths...are all the talents/strengths that Layla has. I thought that was an interesting parallel. Marc's subconscious has created Steven...and taken all the things that he loves about Layla and puts them into Steven's personality and abilities. Ah, isn't that sweet? Yes, the statue in the park...had blue eyes and was actually a person. I wonder if he has always been real, and Steven has been treating him as a statue? OR is him speaking to him (the statue), does he...somehow bring HIM to life in these discussions? Thanks for these reactions. Love your thoughts and reflections. We are on pretty much the same page. Looking forward to where they will be taking us on this "adventure".

1. Dissociative identity disorder is a dissociative disorder, not a personality disorder. That's one of the reasons the term "multiple personality disorder" isn't used anymore, it was misleading. 2. The idea of one "real", "main" or "core" personality is also a bit dated. All alters are real. Some may identify more than the face and name of the body, some may spend more time than others driving it around (and this can change over time as roles may shift) and some may have false memories, but they're all sections of the same consciousness pool and nobody objectively has more claim to the body than anyone else (that's more a matter of internal politics). 3. It would appear that Marc used to be long term host (most frequently in control) up until a few months ago, when Steven became host.

Its funny but all comics are coded with religion so we never really avoid it but we walk around it in the various stories. We could talk about how all the early characters are coded Jewish because they were based in NY and a response to Nazi propaganda but lets stick with Moon Knight. This is dealing with the Egyptian pantheon of gods. Khonshu is the God of the Moon and the God of Vengeance in Marvel. Ammit or Ammut is the Devourer of the Dead. When people are judged at death their heart is weighed against a feather. The more sin the heavier the heart. If your heart does not balance on the scales before Anubis your soul is offered to Ammit. That is what Marvel is playing with here to tell the story. This is just another method of telling stories for comics using another order of mythical iconography. The Thor comics are Norse Gods, The Celestials are from early Hebrew gods, now we are in the Egyptian pantheon. DC does the same thing but in both comic houses it may take some knowledge of early mythology to see the similarities. Most people in the reviews are missing a key line in this episode. Khonshu says "You were a corpse when I found you, that body belongs to me." It is key because of the role of Khonshu in the pantheon. Remember "good" and "evil" are weird concepts to the gods. Good and Evil are human. Gods just do what they do. The question is when and how will humans begin to stand on their own. This is a recurring theme in Sci-Fi/Fantasy and comics.

A couple things really went wrong for me this episode. Why Khonshu stalks his avatar when he can just talk to him? Why did the wife just show up at the enemy's base with the scarab? Why did the homeless guy get killed without being judged? Loved the reaction though and looking beautiful as always. The acting is great, but the writing right now is sorely lacking common sense.
@DazHotep6EQUJ5
@DazHotep6EQUJ5 2 жыл бұрын
Khonshu only "stalks" Steven because thats how steven percieves khonshu, he has no prior knowledge of a god being in his head and is understandably terrified and I think Khonshu enjoys that. He also doesnt favour him over Marc and often wants Marc in control. An intimidation thing I would guess. Terrify Steven into passing out so marc can take control. Marcs wife showed because she was either still tracking his phone or followed him after he was taken. We know she is capable, even capable enough that Khonshu is considering her as marcs replacement. I reckon Arthur Harrow killed the homeless guy without judging him because he thought no one was looking. I would argue that it is you lacking an ability to extrapolate or theorize on what could be happening and why certain things happen. The story is enigmatic, Steven is an unreliable protagonist. Its not lazy or poor writing. More likely its their intention to leave us questioning things, as we should.

@@garyleavens885 I said you lack the ability to extrapolate or theorize. I didnt state you weren't capable of asking questions, just that you lack the ability to derive your own answers from what we have been shown. You cant say writing lacks common sense if it does exactly what a story is meant to do, which is tell a story that leaves you wanting more and pondering, asking questions and wondering about potential answers until said answers are given. And some answers will never be given so do with that as you will. Plus, when you willingly agree to watch something thats fictional, you have to agree to suspend your disbelief because its fictional. I am by no means stating the show is perfect, there are quite a few gripes I have with it as well. I'm merely saying your reasoning for disliking this episode is half baked and not thorough enough. Can you openly disagree, dispute or debunk any of my potential answers to your questions about the episode?

I enjoyed this episode as well. I liked the onscreen representations of Marc Spector Moon Knight and of Steven Grant's Mr. Knight. The story flowed nicely and the action was nice. I personally appreciated Oscar Isaac's interaction between his characters. The only fault I can find is the generic villain, Arthur Harrow but I can't blame the story writers. Moon Knight has not had many memorable antagonists with the most prolific being Bushmaster (but the head writer felt he was to similar to Eric Killmonger) so Arthur Harrow was created. And as with other previous Marvel villains, Arthur is merely an evil version of the hero (avatars of opposing deities). But I look forward to the next episode. Also, I forgot to mention an Easter egg from the episode 1 from Marc Spector's flip phone that Steven found. All missed calls/texts were from Layla except for one which was from Duchamp. This is a reference to the comic book to Jean-Paul Duchamp (a.k.a. "Frenchie") who is a pilot and Marc Spector's trusted confidante in his crime fighting career.
