I think Layla's looking at Marc with heartbroken eyes. She still loves him. She wants to help him, support him, but somethings broken between them. He's still pushing her away and she realizes she never really knew him. I haven't seen many reactions that talks properly about that scene where Marc answers "you didn't, you don't." at her saying it was as if she barely knew him at all. 1) he said that to keep that distance between them. Just like when he stopped holding her hands in the boat. 2) She doesn't know him because he barely knows himself too. And we saw that in the episode. There's still a personality hidden from him. And the one reflection shot of the episode where it wasn't Steven on the other side was right after that. We can read on Marc's face this sadness, this fatalistic resolve of "I'm doing this for her, she'll be happier without me." And when Layla sees Steven again for the first time. Really *sees* him (now understanding who/what he is) she just looks at him so fondly. She could definitely fall in love with Steven. And I think there's a bit of truth in the theory that Steven became subconsciously what Marc wished he had been for Layla. Steven wouldn't hide things from her, and he'd be way more willing to talk about personal stuff and share his feelings.

Re: Khonshu sacrificing himself, remember that so did the kid that cut his scarf and fell to his death. It just means that Khonshu, like the kid, just believes that strongly in his cause. That belief is also what lets him manipulate Mark/Steven/Mystery Murderhobo without any compunction. Whether or not it's for the greater good is yet to be seen, though I do think Ammit is pretty bad news.

Nice reaction to this episode, Miss Smith!🎬👏🏽 The actor that played Mogart (Gaspard Ulliel) died in a skiing accident in January at the age of 37, but he filmed his scenes for the series prior. Maybe Khonshu isn't as bad as we thought, and was just bluffing to take Layla as an avatar, seeing his sacrifice. Strong versions of the cold/flu going around everywhere. I took NyQuil Severe and woke up like at 5:30 in the afternoon yesterday.

Khonshu seems to be a godly judge that believes in free will and Ammit is a judge that believes in predestination. So the real question is perhaps not if Khonshu is acting for the greater good, but if you yourself want to support a belief in free will. Honestly, there's some weird and deep biochemistry ideas that could prove Ammit is in fact very right about predestination, and if she has the power to see the whole timeline of your biochemistry...then perhaps her world would indeed be one without evil and fundamentally better than our current mess.

Yes! Steven is a valuable member of the Scooby gang now! I really like Ethan Hawke’s Harrow. You really feel for the guy and the trauma that twisted him. He is twisted and deadly, but he thinks he’s doing something to better the world. It brings to mind something really wise a KZbin reactioneer I like said recently, “Don’t fall in love with the person you think somebody is, fall in love with the person they are.” Ah, wisdom I wish I understood on multiple occasions! Harrow presents as a peaceful soul that must engage in some unpleasantness to save the world, but it’s gaslighting and he’s going to kill on a mass level because he has trauma. Just another jerk on a power trip. Yes, Khonshu is really not much better either, just less sanctimonious about his brutality. Oscar Isaac’s acting is still super on point. Look forward to next Episode! Rock on!

Pretty cool X-Men connection in this episode. Madripoor the location mentioned ""After Madripoor I'm sure you two will have alot to talk about"" first made it's appearance in New Mutants #32 and has been an important location for many X-Men stories with Wolverine/Logan even buying the Princess Bar a location he spends alot of time at in Madripoor. This bar also appears in the background of one of the shots in Falcon and the Winter Solider with episode 3 of the show taking place in Madripoor itself. This doesn't mean that the X-Men or mutants in general exist in the MCU but I do find it interesting that Disney and Marvel are finally introducing places from the X-Men/New Mutants comic's maybe there building up the introduction of Mutants and X-Men in the MCU setting up the places first. We saw Prehistoric Dinosaurs for a second in the Doctor Strange 2 trailer which may be the Savage Lands another very important location from the X-Men first showing up in X-Men #62. All we can do is wait I guess.

There are definitely vibes of The Mummy films as well as Indiana Jones. Both were clearly inspirations for the action-adventure and mythological elements of this show. (In addition to other inspirations like Fight Club for the psychological thriller parts.) And yeah, May Calamawy was SUCH a good casting decision to meet the look/feel of the leading women from those films. Evie from the Mummy. Marion from Raiders of the Lost Ark. She's such a badass character in this series. I'd never heard of her before this, but she's clearly a fantastic actress. My current theory (based on nothing) is that something's going to happen to her and she ends up as an avatar of a different god.

Another EXCELLENT episode! With lots of indication towards a 3rd alter, aka Jake Lockley. Also, although I can understand why some would think Marc or Jake killed Layla’s dad, I don’t think that’ll be the case. If it’s anything like how the comics played out (which the references to it so far seem to be pretty accurate to it) then I have a feeling I know who did kill him but I’m not gonna say for potential spoilers sake. Khonshu is, like anyone, filled with contradictions... and with being a god who has been around for so long that human lives begin to hold less value because they're so fleeting. However his being and purpose is to guard and protect the innocent and travellers of the night... He just does it in a colder, more ruthless way, as someone who also believes in his 'cause' and the ends justify the means. :-)

I thought the cape was done very well. It does not act like regular fabric, but has a surreal and supernatural feel to it. Of all the capes in all of fiction, I gotta say that being the avatar of the god of the moon, is one of the better reasons for ones cape to not look completely natural.

I'm not sure if anyone ever posted this or not... The reason Marc thought he had things under control, and then Steven suddenly returned is the blip/snap. When Thanos snapped his fingers, all of Marc's Alts were removed as part of the 50% of living things, and for 5 years, he was living alone in his own head again. I believe Marc was "alone" when he was recruited by Khonshu.

I don''t know if you watched Iron Fist, but Moon Knight is giving me vibes of a character that was in that show's second season: Mary Walker (Typhoid Mary in the comics). She had three personalities in that show: "Mary" was a kind and gentle person, "Walker" was a ruthless mercenary, and it became obvious that that was a third personality acting as a vigilante serial killer. Pretty easily maps to Stephen, Marc, and ???

The French actor was known for his roles as Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising, and Yves St Laurent from the 2014 biopic, other work including being the first male ambassador for Chanel, as the face of Bleu de Chanel, another neat thing about him is that in his home country of France he was sort of a gay icon, a role he embraced stating in an interview in 2009 that it didn’t bother him at all. His ex-girlfriend, a French model and singer by the name of Gaëlle Pietri, with whom he shared a son, announced the family would honour his memory by donating to the Tara Ocean Foundation a non-governmental French organisation dedicated to raising awareness of climate change and the current ecological crisis on the oceans, she explained that, and I quote “Gaspard was a diver, sensitive to climate issues and concerned about the protection of underwater biodiversity,” and that “he would have liked the momentum generated by his death to go to the defence of these causes that were close to his heart.”

Soooo...I'm starting to think this 3rd person might be the original one. I also think this 3rd person may have killed Layla's father. I don't think Marc is aware of this though. I think Marc is just pushing her away still cause of the Konshu threat. Telling her that she doesn't know him & she never did is definitely a "push her away" move. Konshu must be aware of the 3rd person since it seems he can communicate with both Marc & Steven. I don't think Konshu wanted them to know about each other. That being said, I think the next episode may start with this 3rd persona being the one that wakes up after being knocked out. Thanks for your reaction & I really enjoy your thoughts about the show. Hey, funnylilgal! Well, Jake Lockley has finally shown up! We still haven't met him but the rumor is that he set up the date with the docent at the steak house in Episode 1. The tribunal in the interior of Giza with the avatars was very cool but Horus didn't do his due diligence. He's a hawk-headed god for Pete's sake! How hard is it to do a fly-by? Mark didn't kill Layla's father but he was partnered with the man who did: his nemesis, Raoul Bushman! Raoul also left Mark a corpse himself until Khonshu revived him. Anton Mogart is known as the art thief Midnight Man in the comics. He was played by Gaspard Ulliel who passed away after production wrapped in a skiing accident. Absolute best moment was the scrolling starscapes as Khonshu took the universe for a spin! Trippy stuff. Layla looks at Steven and thinks that he and Mark together make the perfect man. However, she's yet to meet Jake! If you like The Mummy movies, you must check out "John Carter" if you haven't seen it! Edgar Rice Burroughs' sword-and-planet fiction adapted beautifully. Criminally underappreciated!

The third alter in the comics is Jake and the show seems to be making him more dangerous than he is there. I suspect we will meet him next episode and we will worry about Layla because he likely can pull off one of the others. A thought I had aftet thinking about Harrow's end speech is that maybe he has a bigger goal than resurrection but maybe its taking Ammit's power more like Bast gives independence to Black Panther. Plus, he isn't her avatar but he seems like he has two of her instruments. And I could see that might have been Khonshu's goal for a bit, to eliminate her and have his justice be the only one, but something changed his mind.

I find it odd that we can like someone(harrow) whom is wanting or has the ability to feed peoples souls to entity like Ahmet. So too is it odd that some people find distrust in someone whom is obviously trying to avoid saying that he died probably in the same incident that killed(maybe) Layla's father and the rest of the dig crew. It seems to me that it would be very hard to tell someone you love that you had died along side her father but was resurrected by a god like Khonsu for the sole purpose to punish evil people.
