It is Marc's body and Steven is an alter. Thats why Steven has some similarities to Layla. Sort of a way to keep her close. Steven/Marc being the only ones to see the jackel is probably because he is a God's avatar. The show doesn't show Arthur Harrow again after he summoned the jackal. So we don't know if he sees it or not. If he is Ammit's avatar he might see the jackel.

Mr. Knight looked amazing in this episode. Another great episode. The back and forth between Steven Grant and Marc Spector was my favorite part of this episode. Khonshu looks terrific in this series. Arthur Harrow is an awesome villain. I love the visuals in this show. Arthur Harrow being a former avatar of Khonshu, was an excellent twist. Arthur Harrow roasting Khonshu was cool-blooded. I'm also enjoying this show. I loved the interaction between Steven Grant and Arthur Harrow in this episode. Khonshu has no chill. Another thing I loved about this episode was Layla and her interaction with Steven Grant was fun to watch.

According to the comics Mark Specter is the original personality and Steven Grant is the alternate/split of Mark. Mark has the multiple personality disorder, probably from childhood. In the comics he developed 3 personalities. Mark was the one,while on a mercenary mission ,died ...in Khonsu tomb. It's fun watching you all experiencing this character for the first time. I didn't know about this character about a year ago when there was talk of the series coming about,so I pretty much know what's going on. Arthur Harrow while pretty big in this series, was really a one off character in the comics. Kudos to the MCU for fleshing this character out. He's a really good bad guy.

Dont Breathe is the movie with the blind man Lights Out is the one where this evil spirit(Diana) can only appear in the dark so they have to keep the lights on. Also I understand the frustration when Steven wasn't surrendering the body to Marc, but you also have to understand that Steven isn't just a personality, he's his own person. Why would he give Marc, a guy he not only just met, but found out about his past as a mercenary and fugitive ?? This scene was important to show that Steven can be his own hero, infact, he probably won't be needing/relying on Marc most of the time when he gets to learn about his powers. That mirror shot at the end of the episode looks like Steven trying the punch his way through the mirror

Marc suffers from Disassociative Identity Disorder or DID. DID probably devoloped in Marc before the age of 12 due to repetitive trauma he experienced. An adult cannot develop true DID because of trauma experienced as a fully functional adult To put it simply; Traumatic events + a child that hasn't formed their own personality + REPETITIVE DISASSOCIATION = DID

The series opens the story from Steven’s view. This can have one take it for granted that he is the main persona however; it is Marc with the actual history, Khonshu selected him and often refers to Steven as a parasite. The code gives you the comic featuring Moon Knight’s debut. Let’s consider a few things regarding the different personalities of Marc Spector and Steven Grant. Steven is more passive however someone made a date in episode one. I don’t believe Marc would do that to Layla so are we looking at another persona? Keeping that in mind, you ladies were right there was a different accent when we see who we believe to be Steven arriving at work. Is that who this is? The term has not yet been used but Marc suffers from dissociative identity disorder which means no, he was not a spirit dropped into Steven’s body, Marc is the main persona and wears the Moon Knight costume while in the MCU version, Steven wears the Mr. Knight suit. In addition, think about reflections, there are often 3 displayed. As a matter of fact it looks to me like the final shot of the episode has Steven still in limbo as we see him in the mirror but I don’t believe the person waking up with booze is Marc, Marc knew where he was going an the persona that we see last had to get his bearings. My theory after 2 episodes 1. Marc and Layla were archeologists in Egypt and dug up wrong tomb. 2. Khonshu healed Marc after some “accident” and the debt is to kill for hire. 3. I wouldn't worry TOO much about spoilers from the comics (although I AM disappointed how many commenters seem to be disregarding the request) because this show departs from the comics QUITE a bit. Just because something exists or happens in the comics really doesn't necessarily coincide with the show. So just enjoy it, but I would say stay away from the comments until the show is complete.

Almost every channel that I'm checking out that's requesting _specifically_ for people to not mention anything from the comics in their comments seem to be immediately flooded with every possible detail from every run of the comics. This channel has been refreshingly light on this by comparison, aside from possibly one person who I'm starting to recognize their name enough that I can predict that they're about to blow something before I read what they say, but it's like people just can't help themselves. A few channels are bringing it on themselves, in a way, where they've adopted policies of replying to a majority of comments (being at size where that's feasible) and giving a heart to every single comment, (kind of making them meaningless in the process?) including the people dumping comic book details like an encyclopedia with diarrhea. It's probably a great way to promote interaction on their channel, but if they really don't want spoilers, encouraging/rewarding the behavior is a strange way to go about it. That could be why it's less severe here. I just wanted to share in your disappointment. It's a real bummer. I'm glad that in many of the MCU storylines, _juuuust_ enough tends to be changed up that very rarely is anyone's prediction *exactly* right.

You guys said you don't want comic book spoilers, so some stuff that could be explained at least a little can't be. It will likely be worth your wait learning this because I think it will represent a significant break or development from what the comics currently show. Without giving anything away, it seems important to know that Marc has the relationship with Khonshu that let's him maximize use of Khonshu's power, but Steven, with absolutely no personal relationship with Khonshu, still seems to be able to draw from Khonshu's power, and I don't think Khonshu was in control. Steven may be stronger than Marc in this way. Marc has all the military training and the access to the knowledge of the use of the suit, where Steven need only imagine it.

I'm not a Moon Knight comic reader and only know by watching this series but I felt that Marc is the original person who owns the body and is using Steven's personality to escape from Khonshu trying to take his wife body by leaving her. Marc being a mercenary have taking on many phony personalities to do his job, but Steven is one that he took too far, as his wife said to Steven stop with the fake personality, we got away no one's around. Marc has been in a marriage and his wife have no knowlege of Steven before which mean that Steven have not been around long enough maybe 2 months that is when the wife said she was trying to contact him last when they first talked on the phone. It's obvious Steven is just a fake personality of Marc because he doesn't have any real relationship but his job and why he looks sad when they took his work name tag because that was the only thing to contact him to being a part of this world that is why he needed to find out more about his situation that is why he went to Marc's storage.

Ammit and the other gods of the Ennead dwell on a different plain of existence, but that plain still exist inside the Sacred Timeline. The Sacred Timeline is looped, remember? It's end is its own beginning, repeating every event in the exact same way over and over again because that's how He Who Remains designed it to work; that's the way it HAS TO work! Arthur told Steven that Ammit can see everyone's past, present and future. Instead of waiting for people to do the crime, that she knows they will absolutely do, she chooses to remove them now rather than later. Freewill does not exist in the MCU, remember? The TVA makes sure of that. Freewill leads to a future He Who Remains is trying to prevent, a future with Kang in it. End Game showed us that people will do what they are destined to do, and they showed us in the most horrible way possible, the snap. 2014 Thanos traveled to the future 2023 to do exactly what his 2018 self did, erase half of all life. Loki and his variants all suffer the same fate. They might be able to delay the inevitable, but inevitability still comes. What if...? showed us this too with Stephen Strange and his relationship with Christine. She didn't always die the same way, but her death is crucial to his growth, so it has to happen--what if changed his hand injury for Christine, but the same thing applies here. Ammit's point of view is right, if your crystal ball is the Sacred Timeline. Ammit however has a blind spot called the TVA. She, like everyone else inside the Sacred Timeline, cannot see what they're doing, which is removing people who don't follow their scripted stories. Ammit cannot see that people can in fact change. I get what Ammit and Arthur are saying. It's f'ed up, sure, but when you think about how the Sacred Timeline works, she isn't wrong. 15:57 LOL! You have no idea. The most common colors in Marvel have to be green and purple. Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Hulk, Vulture, Mysterio, Electro, Gamora, Drax, Iron Fist, Skrulls, Loki, Kang, Mantis, Feng Fang Fume, Marvel Girl (Jean Gray), Vision, Hela, Enchantress, Amora, Doctor Doom, Abomination, Lizard, Banshee, Scorpion, Thanos, Hawkeye, Zemo, Medusa, Prowler, Galactus, and many more characters, lol. I know some people argue that x, y or z aren't accurate enough to the comics, but I welcome the change because of these two colors that are everywhere in Marvel, lol. 16:11 Bast, the panther god of Wakanda is part of the Egyptian pantheon =D 24:22 Mr. Knight, what Steven was, is a thing in the comics, so we might see it again. In the comics it isn't attached to a specific persona, but I like what the MCU is doing here. Steven didn't see Khonshu's temple, so he wouldn't know what to summon. Marc and Steven are both Avatars of Khonshu as they share a body, so Khonshu's power flows through them. Steven just showed Marc that he can do something new, though it probably isn't ideal for battle. In the comics, Mr. Knight is more of a detective than a fighter. 24:55 Steven most likely emerged because of Marc's union with Khonshu. Maybe his power was too much for his mind, but as Marc was dying his mind have fractured as he grappled with what he was seeing and experiencing. Khonshu was aware of what had happened, and it sounds like he was going to leave Marc after he found out, but Marc assured him that he could keep it together and for a while he did. It wasn't until recently did Steven become a problem. 25:03 Marc is the original person, not Steven. Marc has a past, a wife, who has never seen Steven until now. Marc, for as long as she's known him, has not had issues with DID. This is something new. There's probably one more persona to be introduced--the first episode showed three reflections when Steven looked into mirrors. Jake Lockley may or may not be in the MCU or this season, but I figure he's the one that made the date. Steven doesn't have a memory problem. He's losing days because of Marc. Marc loves his wife very much, as we've seen, so he wouldn't have made a date--he's not trying to connect to anyone. Jake, however, might be feeling a bit lonely and playful. He's certainly confident! 25:49 Marc established in this episode that the persona that is presenting itself gains a stronger control over the body. Marc only came out when Steven rested and he always went back home to let his other persona live his other life, which in turn gave it strength. Marc had to come out several times to save Steven, which was giving Marc more power. The thing that was different, in my opinion, is Marc is seeing more time, ,but more importantly, Steven's world is falling apart. As his mind is collapsing around him, the mental barrier between him and Marc likely lost its strength. 26:20 Arthur Harrow must have betrayed Khonshu. Khonshu wanted Steven to kill him. You could really hear the anger in his voice, especially when he said break his wind pipe--Khonshu didn't want to hear another word from the man, but he probably also didn't want Harrow to sway his only Avatar away from him the same way Ammit likely did Arthur. Khonshu's a jerk for sure, but he's doing what he's doing for the greater good, and he doesn't seem to care how he goes about doing that. I bet Khonshu and Ammit are the two gods missing from the poster Steven pointed out to Donna in the first episode. We know why Ammit was kicked out of the Ennead, but we haven't heard Khonshu's story yet. Seeing how they're very similar, punishing those who're evil, I wouldn't be surprised if they were partners at first, until Khonshu realized that he f'ed up, helping Ammit kill those who hadn't done anything yet. Khonshu's mission is to stop Ammit, which I imagine he's hoping will be enough to earn him his place back among his peers.

Question: What if Arthur Harrow was somehow involved in the removal of Ammit's first avatar and that's how he got that crocodile cane?! Also, I am proud of Steven with a V for growing a little bit of a spine in the middle of a dangerous situation. I say good job for trying, but it's definitely a job left to the professional. THEORY!! What if Marc having to ask permission to take over the body from Steven is based on the phases of the moon?!?!?! 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘 What if he's stronger during certain moon phases? Full Moon, Waxing, Waning, New Moon??? Maybe during the fuller phases he can just make the switch without asking but not during the weakening phases??? Ok...crazy theories time...i'll try keep it short...Harrow killed Marc's team sometime in the past...there was a throwaway line in Episode 1, Harrow said something like ''I know you, mercenary'' in the village square when he first saw him so they've crossed paths already. Khonshu makes the dying Marc his new avatar although knowing about his Dissociative Identity Disorder, Marc assures him that Steven and another possible identity will not be a problem..! Although no timeline has been given as yet....all of the recent series are post Endgame....so bear with me...What if, at the time of The Snap, Steven was in control and when everyone came back, due to Marc's disorder, Steven has somehow become the dominant identity and has mostly been able to keep Marc out unless he's asleep. There's more but i'll leave it there..! 🤔🤔🤔

OK so remember the panther god in black panther bast is based on the Egyptian god and we’ve had mentioned to this connects the black panther in that way. Bast is based on real life mythology Bastet. Bastet was given the heart of ra. Funny enough wakanda had a heart shaped herb. Marc is Khonshu avatar so in a way since the black panther got his power from bast is he like her avatar. The asgardians are gods and we have seen a transfer of power from thor to steve Rogers however it be by a Thor’s hammer. THat brings me to relics of dr strange where they use weapons of higher beings to channel energy and power. DID probably devoloped in Marc before the age of 12 due to repetitive trauma he experienced. An adult cannot develop true DID because of trauma experienced as a fully functional adult Traumatic events + a child that hasn't formed their own personality + REPETITIVE DISASSOCIATION = DID

🌒Great Reaction! Apologies in advance for the long post. Things are just coming into my brain,. It will be good to see things from Marc's prospective for now. The whole series will have you questioning if all of this is in Steven's mind or is it real. They will keep you guessing for most of the series and they may never fully answer the question (also similar to the comics). Couple of clues from the dialogue: Khonshu said when I found you where nothing more than a corpse, which was the point they made the deal (it appears they are following the comic again). So maybe the only reason Marc/Steven is breathing right now is due to Khonshu saving him. Pay attention to the scene in the car where the "cop" looked up Marc's history and found the archeological dig where he supposedly shot those archeologists in the head, that maybe the point where everything got put into motion. Did Marc have Dissociative Identity Disorder prior to becoming Khonshu's Avatar or did he develop it when he became the Avatar? From what I hear so far the series has done a pretty good job of showing what someone with DID goes through. DID is usually a reaction to trauma as a way to help a person avoid bad memories. .We still need to see what that bad memory was and we should get that soon. Supposedly, the sensation of blacking out and just waking up and not remembering how you got there is accurate. So I believe the blacking out is not Steven falling asleep it is the point when he loses control to Marc and when Marc goes on his missions (sometimes for days). Thus Steven is always tired, disoriented and depressed. I am so glad to see Marvel is introducing a whole new pantheon of gods to the MCU. Interestingly in Egyptian lore (and in Marvel Comics) Khonshu and the Panther Goddess Bast are siblings. Since Mark is the Avatar of Khonshu and Harrow is the Avatar for Ammitt are the Black Panthers the Avatar for Bast,? Rumor has it that we will see Bast in human form in the next Thor movie. Finally, Marvel has updated the timeline on Disney Plus and Moon Knight comes after Hawkeye making it the latest in time project on the MCU timeline so far. Again Great Reaction ladies hang in there, all will be revealed in the end.🌒

The accent seems to be his mind impersonating Layla, just like he took her favorite poet as his own. Also, I've read an article saying that his accent is good if you're from a certain region, but television and film rarely uses that accent, so people find it strange...

Marc's the 'original' not Steven and seems like Steven over time will hopefully develop into a cerebral 'detective' Knight character with Marc as the brawny Moon Knight character. Interesting that Marc's momma's real and still alive - hope she taught her boy how to season & fry chicken properly (I mean c'mon Paula!). Caught the Global Repatriation Council ad (GRC from FaWS) on the side of the London double-decker bus placing this show post the FaWS show. Looking forward to Benson & Moorhead who directed this episode & Ep 4 directing Loki S2! QR Code to the free Moon Knight Comic was a nice touch - this type of Easter Egg should be incorporated organically into other MCU movies & shows! The Asgardian & Wakandan books in Steven's apartment were also a nice touch. Yeah BP seems to be the only character in the MCU that's positively associated with Purple! The Empire Film Podcast Crew in London have had a little fun with how all over the place the London geography is in the show :) And yes Oscar/the writers have definitely been watching too much Top Boy! 🌙

Idk how I feel about Khonshu… he’s basically manipulating Marc into doing his bidding… I wouldn’t doubt it if Khonshu ends up being an Antagonist of some sort because by him threatening Marc with Layla, that’s a villainous thing to do I feel really bad for Steven… his life is messed up at every turn because of Marc and Khonshu

So we have debut of mister Night. I love this. I like that you cannot see the jackal when Steven/Marc is fighting it. Just because something isn’t real to someone else does it mean it’s not real to you. We had to return of MCU purple power. I like that Arthur has his hands everywhere I love his cult members are part of the police corruption which gives me the idea that maybe Arthur wants to be the God he doesn’t want to be an avatar. I like the Disney+ jump from the previews that we see from one night. All the stuff that Layla likes is what Steven likes so I feel like Marc is the main personality and Steven is what he created later. Steven is definitely his softer side but I feel like all of that comes from Layla. The jacket is definitely based off of Anubis got of the dead in Egyptian mythology. A lot of this reminds me of the 90s movie Spawn just how he moves. khonshu is kind of a dick lol. With the difference personalities talking through mirrors it reminds me of extraordinary gentlemen Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Th one in the middle is cute. Marc is died but Basically sold his soul and was saved by the Egyptian god. So Layla knows that part about Marc, but the whole Steven is new to her.
