_Sorry for the rant but I have to get this off my chest ^^_ Honestly, all these people I see talking about you stole this from kAN, this person stole this and that person stole that, are really hurting this community. Not every single person has to innovate on everything, just let them play how they want to, let them take inspiration or copy stuff 1:1 and the content will be better because they can play as they would off-cam which makes the videos more genuine and enjoyable. Same with their base/ their farms/ their vehicles etc. sure you can make suggestions and I think those are really appreciated and helpful. However I always notice people under every single KZbinr's video saying that they should build a mobile base, or improve this, or build a boat, a flying machine... whatever it may be. Just let them play. Just let them build what they want to build, when they want to build it and however they want to build it. Again, suggestions and Inspiration are perfectly fine but making demands or shaming/hating on someone for not playing the game like you want them to? Not cool!

plus, diferrent person can comes with the same idea, because the minor components are universality util... in my miner vehicle i want it in first person and i put collector in from of it and seat over it, put the drills really down and then i noticed people already use this configuration... i not want copy anyone i just did what looks work better with the resources i had... if i had more drills i kind will did some arms with it, because slide down is really pain in the as on hills and i not now a better way to do it... put more wheels not looks like will help, put a lose bearing to keep drills in contact with ground is other idea to help mining the small ones, but it not helps in slide stuff anyway, because of that put armos to grab rocks is really usefull

What about putting bearings on each arm and use it to angle like 30° so when you cut the rocks just press another button and face the drills to the ground. I think it should do the trick for grabbing the smaller ones.

Moonbo, you should build an underwater vehicle. Engines work underwater, you can put pistons under your seat to raise yourself above the water to get oxygen. Of course your vehicle needs to be heavy enough to sink. Having a underwater vehicle is much more fuel efficient as it doesn’t need thrusters.

I added a claw like system on the front that will grab and pinch the rocks, then lower drills into the 'hole'. It literally pulls up to the rocks, best solution I have made up. its about a perfect size for a big square chunk and as it breaks down into smaller chunk the grabbing system holds all the small chunks in place as I drill them. Literally takes seconds to process a square chunk

You can save on fuel if you use a max speed controller to spin the drills. it goes just fast enough to break rocks and damage greenies.

Have you considered making a grinding pit? Like your lumber mill, but for stone. So you detach rock formations from the ground, then transport them to the pit for harvesting.

I realized that drills work better if the "vehicle" is anchored to the ground (or maybe when you are off the vehicle). Did you notice a different behavior of the vehicle if your character is in or out (like slowly sliding from hills)? The downside of anchoring something, like a robotic arm, is the time you waste welding/removing along the rock formation. Wheels and drills currently aren't friends, for some reason (maybe this is the reason for drills efficiency inconsistency).. Awesome mining experience tho, I think this is truly the best you can achieve with drills on wheels, Gratz.

Put some shocks on the drill so it doesn't go crazy and bounce all over the place. They a more stable and you wouldn't need the pistons. The drills will stay pushing against the rocks. Place a drag wheel on the drill arms to lift it just above the ground. Like the wheels on your chair stands or similar. It drags behind in 1 direction and free rotation. Around the middle or just behind the middle of the arm. Wherever it brings the arms just off the ground so it doesn't drag. You could set your drills to 1 block higher and put a bearing on the drag wheel to rotate a few degrees when you want to get a little lower or higher for terrain. Using that wheel will help you going up the hill. No need to charge up. I placed my resource collector just behind the drills and you could put your seat on top of it for view. 3rd person it really doesn't matter where you put it but I use 1st person mode and look through the resource collector. Not same design though.

Hey moonbo you can replace the mining drills with the saw blades when you want to gut down tree's. They work on the side's just as good as on the edge

So I have 4 updates that you could do 1 is the suspension because you were struggling so maybe raise your suspension a Little bit on both your vehicle and your trailer 2 on the top part of your drills maybe put another row so that you could mine faster and bigger rocks it may be a little bit laggy but I think you should work and 3 you’re collecting barrel I noticed as you put it in front of you at nighttime it cut off a little bit of your light and I know this isn’t directly mandatory but maybe put a couple lights there and for the fourth one on the back of your trailer where the chests are I noticed you could put another chest or a gas tank it’s your choice

Moonbo. I love your creations. Would you consider making a rock crusher, like those industrial grinders in irl? So you could just cut out the bottom of formations and drop them into a grinder?

You could probably use bearings and suspension to allow for the drill assembly and wheel axel to bend so when you drive up a hill, it will bend and stay level with the stone bases. Also angling the drills just slightly down may help get those little annoying pieces.

I've noticed that when you have drills on suspension don't don't work very consistently. I get much better consistent drilling when I take the suspension off.

Additionally, tools spinning at a constant rate are far more effective. The tooltip that gas engines are for driving and electric engines are for tools isn't just fluff. Even placing a drill on 2 stacked bearings linked to a controller performs better for me than connecting it to a gas engine.

Make it so the whole front section with the drills can go up and down with pistons so you have even better control. Making it extend to the front is a good idea to for the hills. That's what I've been doing and you don't even need that many drills to get it done fast. Also, if you are using an electric engine for the drills, try to set it as slow as you can while the rocks still get destroyed. It can go pretty slow tbh and the speed doesn't change a bit for the rock cutting

Rocks reacts different with the welding tool, you have to put more blocks to distance them from objects to be able to delete blocks. The last few blocks that you can not unweld will come loose when you destroy the rocks

Hmm, I get the sense that the drills are glitching because they're all extending at once while being deflected by the rocks they're trying to chop up. And so their own geometry is overlapping with the neighboring drill bits causing them to flip out.

Regarding the pistons freaking out, I would say since 0.4.0 all bearings, suspensions, and pistons behave quite strangely. I've also seen more piston freakouts in the last week, but I feel like a lot of old physics bugs that were fixed years ago have returned. I guess they fixed them once, they can probably fix them again, but yeah all piston/bearing/suspension behavior is broken as hell at the moment.

Part of his problem is he has bearing>piston>drill which causes the piston to spin which freaks out the game, if he changes it to piston>bearing>drill it gets rid of the freak out. Everything still acts strangely but not as bad.

Haven't seen a mining vehicle have too much success with those rocks on mounds. Gravity is a challenge since it will cause you to slip and have much positioning power while trying to get to the rocks. So far, the best success i had is just using a robot arm to drill the big pieces of the top then maybe push them to level ground. Then have a vehicle with drill bits pointing downwards and crush them.

Maybe, because of how long it is: Make the back wheels turn in the opposite direction, for sharper turns. It helps with bigger/longer/heavier builds. I hope it helps!

I wish there was some sort of hydroponic crop system in the game, so you could have a true moving base. IDK maybe make it a little more expensive than planting on the ground, maybe it would need to unlock some tech before for doing it, but I think it would be really cool

I think the reason the pistons are freaking out is because you are spinning them with the drills, prob be more reliable if it goes, "piston->block->bearing->block->drill". so that the pistons don't spin.

Moonbo you should put the container lower so you can drive on them AND you can move it to the front, so that way it's doble efficient. Like scrapmans mining vehicle. So that way the container can reach the materials but not make it so it bottoms out more often, be careful.

Maybe built a rock-crushing-station at your base, like you did for the wood. Maybe that way the little rocks cant get away and the ressources will get picked up immediatly and that maybe more lag firendly?

i don't see suspension on each drill. i noticed that putting suspension on each drill bit helps massively. it reduces the knockback the drills have when they hit stone at high speed. this will keep the drills on the stone longer which helps break it faster. it also should stop the entire front of your miner from shaking. hills are the biggest problem with miners. my next miner is just going to park over a rock formation and lower itself down onto it with drills on the underside. this way i don't even have to move the miner xD

You should make the drill arms pivot up and down so that you can get up hills easier and if rocks are on an incline then you can lower them instead of them sticking in the air

You've inspired me to build something similar. I love the lobster arms and mobile refining. My only idea to improve is to make the two in the center 2x2, and making the sheet they are on fold forward to become flat to drill DOWN onto the bits on the ground, since those are the cause of 90% of the difficulty in collection

Love the drill car, that is such a good idea with the movable collector. Try putting the bearings directly on the drills instead of behind the pistons, that may help. Also about sliding on the hills, I HATE THAT, my cars are always moving dozens of feet or even ending up at the bottom of the ocean ALL THE TIME.

Moonbo, I found making a post in the ground, welding the mining machine to the post and using pistons and controllers to reach the rocks. You will probably have to make several posts and re weld as you go. It saves alot on gas.

I just started playing and I added suspension to my drill arm and it really seems to keep greater contact between the rock and the drill... perhaps you could do something similar in place of the pistons and simply clamp the pincer together against a rock that way your drills conform to its shape.

I copied your drill design. But i changed the vehicle to have collectors & the refinery right behind the drills. So little time saves & less lag as it grabs most stuff right away as it breaks. But the drill design is amazing. Works better then anything i could come up with. Ty for the inspiration.

Kind of late on noticing, but what direction are your arm drills rotating? If they are turning counter clockwise (while looking at them as if you were in a claw) then they are probably shooting rocks forward, away from your vehicle. It's hard to tell while moving so fast, and I didn't see the connections.

I wonder if the drills really have to be spinning, or can they be jackhammered into the rock. Or if you can simply ram a rock formation at high speed will the force of the impact do the trick? Stacking multiple pistons and upgrading them to high speed then putting that on a fast timer might produce a viable jackhammer.

thank you for the imput on the logic gates on the farm :D (i know i'm one week later) also the farming vehicle looks sick hahaha for those who coment that it feels copied... well, they are watching your videos, right? if they also play the game they will be obviously influenced by your content, so basically it's hypocresy. for example i had a similar farm but thanks to your videos i've modified it slightly and gave it a few tweaks and now it works flawlesly. if they somehow need help at any point they won't be able to ask for because they will be copying other players ideas according to their own comments

you cant break block that are welded to stone, you have to destroy the stone to do it, you can use tool stuff like i beams to weld it to and then remove the ibeam
