I met Moondog in the summer of1965. Standing alone on 42nd street somewhere. My two friends and I just came over from Jersey. Very hot day. My buddies had jumped into the Newark Bay to cool off. As we approached Moondog he said to me, "how did you enjoy your swim?" I was amazed. We talked. He smelled my friends from twenty feet away, knew they were wet. I walked away after our discussion knowing I had just met an intellectual dressed as a Druid. I did not know he was a famous character of NYC, or a musician/composer until fifty years later. I never forgot our conversation or him from 59 years ago. He was a wonderful man. Respected all people.

I used to talk with Moondog a lot when I worked in NYC during the Summer of 1970. It is really wonderful to find these posts and know that others still remember him, or are learning about him. He was a unique, amazing and fascinating man.

And here I am one May evening, over 6 years later, at my desk crying tears. I thought I had heard most mr Hardin´s totally unique and beautiful music, but this a first. Thanks ever so much for putting this on!

Moondog ending his life in Germany, the land of the composers, is the closest thing to justice I can imagine.
