Nice work but I have to admit that I am not a big fan of the square shape. I believe that a round or an oval one would suit the front end better since the headlight is round. Maybe and octagon would work also. Anyway I still like your work and enthusiasm.

Well thats solid👍.... i put duel lights on my Suzuki M109R, had a big void area at the top that i had to cover,(that was where the headlight was)..so all i used ,was a leather round tool bag. It covered the void well. Ya looking well btw...🇦🇺

Del, you are so into the lathe work. What's next ? Perhaps a Bridgeport milling machine. I remember back in the 90's doing NVQ machining, a couple of hairy biker lads new to the course. I think they were in the Aquila gang, great lads, they were all about turning & milling footrests and grips in billet ally. I helped them for fun. Our lecturer was cool, as long as we made the examination pieces we were free to make what we wanted.

Thanks Russ, i do love turning up parts on the lathe, and never mind a milling machine, id just love a bigger and more solid lathe to start with and make more accurate parts.. but they cost ridiculous money and not even that readily available to home users... Sounds like you had fun with the club lads there, ive not been to Devon for many years... some of the best riding roads in England.. !

Delboy, get yourself a dead blow hammer, nylon faces with the inside full of lead shot, helps save the muscles and also get a tailstock die holder, makes cutting threads a whole lot easier.

Easy to understand how these things take so long. I thought mechanical repairs took way longer than expected and here I’ve never attempted this type of thing. Count me 8 hours plus another 30 for doing it 3 times. Hope you guys are keeping well. Are you cleared for riding at the moment?

Hi mate, yes cleared to ride and drive cars but just won't have my vocational licence back for the foreseeable future... mainly due to my condition, but made worse by a 16 week delay at DVLA on all processing, so no day job at the moment, meaning no income, but at least I can get out on the bike!

I really like Your work and admire enthusiasm and great engineering. I still think that motorcycle would have a lot better look with two of those lights, LED ones, or one bigger circle light in the middle than that plate. It looks too robust, too much square shaped 😢. Not back to normal by a long way yet mate, each day in the garage takes it's toll, still pretty down on energy and stamina, but rest in between makes it possible.. and the day job will be on hold until DVLA get their respective fingers out and deal with my licence replacement... so maybe new year if im lucky mate.. who knows..

Thanks Gary, it's my favourite pastime, I may not be very good at it, but I enjoy being creative with materials and it's a great way to express yourself and enjoy an old bike! We're keeping safe, hope you are both too there? D&Px

I love the shape and the hole idea behind it. But personally I think its to big in size, and insted of the bobber style headlight get one of them led ones, it will make it look really awsome and there not expensive at all…. But anyhows its your bike and project

delboy you do a cracking job on all your on all your builds its just the front to me looks wrong but yes your right del we each have our own opinion,i will wait and see if the end result changes my thoughts.

No mate, it was never a 'perfectly good bike', it was a total dog when i bought it for spares from a dealer, mechanically it's now totally sound in every way, just looks raggedy, and will make a great winter hack..!
