Today I had a chance to save one of these nice guitars from local garage sale. It was sitting outside under strong Texas sun. So... Anywas... I have a question about the pickup. Did you replace that shity original under-the-saddle pickup with a humbucker? Thank you!

Did you remove the piezo pickup or wire the Kent Armstrong as well. And what strings are you using? I'm using bronze on mine, but they aren't even on a magnetic pickup.

Yes I removed the Piezo (and replaced the Bridge), to use the Humbucker only. I did not like the piezo-sound much. Strings are Thomastik-Flatwound JS 111.

@@olliback Thanks. It sounds lovely, but then you play beautifully.

wonderful playing! did you remove the logo on the headstock?

Thank you! I jammed a piece of veneer between the headstock and the nuts of the tuners because I did not like the logo - but meanwhile I removed the veneer again :-))

Sounds great! What did you do to remove the headstock logo?

I like these guitars, but I find the string tension to be too firm and have trouble getting comfortable with it. What’s you thoughts?
@olliback68655 жыл бұрын
String-tension too firm? No, I don´t think so. Got Thomastik Flatwounds (11-47) on it and this fits perfect to me (Thomastik JS111).

Hi Olli, random question, how did you get the veneer that you used to cover the headstock. Did you make it yourself? If so, any way I can buy one :)

Did you have any issues with tuning pegs because of the added thickness?
@olliback3 жыл бұрын
Yes Leonardo, I cutted it myself ;-)

I don't understand. I don't see any veneer. Is it stick on? Do you have a website with some close photos? Can you make this piece and sell it?
@olliback3 жыл бұрын
@@elsizzle2000 I just cutted it from a rest piece of veneer one time for myself. Just for fun. Just to try it out. Meanwhile I removed it again. No, I don´t have closer photos. No I do not make more of it or sell it, sorry!

Do you find a major difference in the sounds of the f-hole & round hole version of this guitar?
@olliback3 жыл бұрын
Not really! You can listen to the F-hole-version on my canal too! In this roundhole-recording I put a little to much gain perhaps, wich makes a really different sound to the F-hole recording. Acoustically the roundhole is a little more "open" and "larger" I think, but if install a little humbucker like I did, they both sound the same!
