I'm not sure why I even finished this video. This game feels lackluster to me and the bosses were not very exciting. Moonlighter has some weird hitboxes - sometimes you get hit and you have no idea why. Sometimes it looks like you should've taken a hit, but you stay unharmed. And then there is shield which makes you pretty much invincible and can block almost everything.
This game was originally released a year ago, but it was very buggy and I didn't enjoy it much, so I quickly dropped it. Now it received a DLC with some new bosses, so I decided to give it a second chance.
It's still full of bugs.

I gotta agree with Gellot's complaint about the hotbox. Already in the first boss you can see how there are many moments where attacks that should hit him didn't hit. Especially when that Golem is literally next to Gellot and swing his arms, it didn't register the hit.

that's not a bug with the hitboxes, that was him using the shield, you can even hear a clanking noise each time an attack makes contact with the shield

Dimensional pirate was definitely my favorite and Giant slime was my least favorite, I know it’s a giant slime but maybe what the could have done was make it a bunch of diffrent slimes, like green,blue, orange, yellow, and a bunch of others to form a massive disformed figure instead of a giant blob, it could have summoned the small slimes shot projectiles, and even released a shockwave but I would keep the move set just to that and not to big because it is still the first dimensional boss

I played this game on the switch a while ago, while it was somewhat fun at the start, it started to get repetitive towards the 3rd dungeon. The "owning a shop" part of the game made it bearable though.

yea was kind of disappointed at the ending, the wanderer are just a poor soul stuck in a loop with bunch of monsters and guy in a hazmat suit spraying viruses for eternity. he vent at us (will) in frustation that he saw us entering the dungeon and exiting (while he was stuck there). and upon defeating him, he didn't rest in eternal peace, but rather still stuck in the dungeon. the ICT statement were like "haha he stuck, well we will help him later but maybe we will maybe we won't".

Hey Gellot, do you know Dragon's Dogma ? If not, you should try ! It's one of the most underrated game of the decade. It also has a great potential for a no-damage run, since boss battle are ( to me ) one of the highlights of the game, as well as the character building system.

I actually liked this game: I do agree the game is lackluster, it does need more work and content, but I did enjoy the bosses. I feel like your weapon of choice, (you chose the most boring weapon) heavily effected your gameplay, using something like the spear allows for long ranged attacks and a special of dealing multiple hits at the risk of an enemy attacking you, you make the choice to use your weapon at the right time. I didn’t even know you could just block the Tech Guardian’s hardest attack with a shield. Though, the best boss has to either go to the Forest Boss, or the Wanderer. I feel like the Forest Guardian is the best though, a challenging boss for the first 1-2 tries, but mastering the fight feels good. The thing about the wanderer is that its 1st phase, is alright, but damn I was letdown by the 2nd phase. It just sucked, he didn’t do anything really. In fact, the mini-bosses in the DLC are the most engaging honestly. I do agree, this game needs work, but I don’t think the bosses suck. Just my opinion though.

Moonlighter is just an uninspired Recettear. If you're looking for a similar game with much more satisfying merchant/shopkeeping gameplay yet with a reasonably fun (though repetitive) dungeon crawl sub-mechanic, I would strongly recommend Recettear instead.

Don't care who says what......this game is rough!!!! The bosses were not in the game at first. Leveling up to get new weapons and armor in a random generated stage is like playing Dark Cloud 1 and 2 again. Awesome boss rush!!!! Kudos!

You need to find the secret portal. It always spawns on floors 1-2 of every dungeon. If you enter the room and see a spot with some weird green particles - jump into the pit and the portal will be there.

This game has so much potential... It's idea is unique, it has amazingly gorgoeus pixel art and animations and the music is also really good, but the game lacks in many aspects of gameplay... It could be a really good game. For me it's ok as of now, and I'm really disappointed because I really want to love it, and the only thing saving it from being a completely "meh..." kind of game are the graphics and sound design. Such a shame.
