I have this moonshine 135 set-up with smaller 550 cam and 64mm throttle body.....at 169hp....and best torque of 158.....it's plenty powerful when your rolling with friends and you feel the need to hurt some feelings.......it's easily done...... but what I enjoy is the low end roll on torque, especially riding 2 up with my wife .......it has great street manners, quiet valve train......its truly a pleasure to ride. Big power that you can enjoy everyday even on long trips was my goal and I must say so far I'm very pleased !

IMO keep the belt drive as long as you can... PITA to replace a belt if you have to, but the lack of maintenance of a belt over a chain is well worth it, if you’re not tearing up belts

Awesome build can this be done on a 2019 tri glide I was hit by a car 5 years ago ,due to my injuries switched to a tri glide. Keep up the great videos
@MoonshineHarley3 жыл бұрын
We build Tri Glides but not usually to this level. The trikes get a little hotter while running and to much HP will cause the front end to push in a corner and not turn. If you’d like to discuss some of the builds we do on trike please calm the shop and ask for the Horsepower Team Nick - Aaron - Jamie - Mike Phone: 615-274-4170 Email: horsepower@moonshineharley.com If you email us please provide a good contact phone number for you.

I shouldn't ask, but what is the average cost for a performance upgrade?
@MrCRM20113 жыл бұрын
Man I love the work and detailed explanation you give. I would like to have about 135 horsepower with torque around 145. But I just got my RGS in June of 2021. When the factory warrant gets close to going out I’ll be giving you a call
@MoonshineHarley3 жыл бұрын
Awesome. We do warranty most of our engine builds till your factory two year warranty expires.

I did a 124 build from r&r cycles manchester nh, 138hp / 143 tq dyno sheet.. thats with trask performance big sexy exhaust probably woulda been higher numbers with a thunderheader exhaust since longer than my shorty style

Let's see how the stock compensator holds up!
@MoonshineHarley3 жыл бұрын
It’s a stock comp setup with the MHP Comp Ramp. We have proven this to be one of the best setups available for any HP range. The Harley-Davidson compensator is a great design so we just replace the parts with stronger ones. It’ll also save your trans compared to some other comp setups.
@PanchoRob2 жыл бұрын
Will a stock transmission hold up with that much power?
@MoonshineHarley2 жыл бұрын
Yes…if you shift property by letting up on the throttle when you shift.
@g929rr3 жыл бұрын
I knew something good was coming soon thanks for the video guys… but I just have a question why the hp and torque so far apart is cuz of the cam that’s been use…

You guys recommend running synthetic oil or conventional oil in the build m8s.?
@RGHD9123 жыл бұрын
Comventional during break in, then synthetic after . What ever oil you decide just change it often. Every 2500mile Just my .02 cent
@MoonshineHarley3 жыл бұрын
We break them in on mineral oil. Then switch to synthetic after the 1,000 mile mark. Mineral oil is great but needs to be changed every 2,500-3,000. We like the Bel Ray oil for high output engines.
@willyafg3 жыл бұрын
I hear these big engines dont last long in comparison to stock engine. Any info on this ? Also what how much is fuel economy affected on these sexy engines ?
@MoonshineHarley3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the build setup. Mileage on the HWY is effected to much but from light to light full throttle it’ll drink. Over all mileage is still great since it’s a two cylinder engine.

When you add all this power to a bike that originally had 90 hp and now has 150+ hp there has to be more changes to be made on the bike,,,such as a heavy duty clutch,twin breaks on the front wheel, probably a stronger belt or chain to be able to take all that power the new engine delivers, what about the Transmission I imagine modifications also is recommended,,,,I have a 114 ci on my fat Bob did a stage 2 on it 2 into 1 exhaust, high flow air filter, a tuner , dyno showed 130 hp 131 TQ, that's enough power and still its still warrantied by HD and to me that warranty is very important ,, ,I respect your work I just don't understand you need all that power unless you race your bike on the track
