Just goes to show that a little hard work and tenacity led to some amazing work that still holds up. Kudos for an amazing job!

The effects in this film were well better than they had any right to be. Great work.

I haven't revisited the film since first seeing it in 1989, but I do remember being deeply impressed by the visual effects. It was a film with a small budget, but the FX artists made it look far more expensive.

J'ai découvert Moontrap il y a quelques mois. C'est une petite "série B" très sympathique. Je défends l'idée qu'elle a été une des sources d'inspiration pour le jeu d'aventures animées de Lucas Arts, The Dig de 1995.

Well, I'm more focused on the miniature work with this doc. But I do try to get VFX camera people involved as well to hear their stories.

Cinefantastique published a nice article with lots of photos of the miniatures and other stuff. I wanted to see this so bad and have still not managed to track it down yet.

The full movie is on YT. On a quick scan there is an alien helmet opening scene which is very Alien: Prometheus.

I really wish you would show the photos of the models, sets, etc. for a bit longer. I mean, he's a handsome fella and all, but he's not what we've come for! Also, is there a reason for not actually showing any clips? Surely copyright can't be that bad that you can't show anything?
@piercefilmАй бұрын
Well, it's a KZbin video so you can stop the video at any time and look at the photo(!) Or you can just watch it again! Using Clips can easily get you into trouble with the studios. That means lawyers. I've had to take down some videos because of that. But some of my videos do show finished clips (Quantum Leap). This doc is about the model makers and their work. Most of the movie clips can be found elsewhere here on KZbin.
@fearlessjoebanzaiАй бұрын
@@piercefilm, the problem is you don't even leave enough time to react to pausing it, especially when you're listening to what people are saying, so I end up having to keep rewinding it, which because "it's a KZbin video", happens in ten second increments - meaning that I constantly hear the last seven or eight seconds repeated every time a photograph comes up! It just makes for a disjointed viewing experience. Even if you held them for an extra three seconds it would be a good improvement.
