Moonwalkers give users a powered boost as they walk

Although they may look like just another set of strap-on electric roller skates, the Moonwalkers are actually a bit different. You walk as you're wearing them, with their motorized wheels increasing your walking speed by a claimed 250 percent.
Designed by Carnegie Mellon University spinoff company Shift Robotics, the Moonwalkers are currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign. They can reportedly be attached to a wide variety of shoes, utilizing their adjustable straps and quick-release magnetic buckles.

There was already a kind of shoes called "Moonwalkers". It was back in the 80s/90s. The shoes had rubber bottoms, so you could jump. The people who made those should have put a "™" next to their name. They should have just called these "Roller-Skates".

Unfortunately these moonwalkers will be a flop, the price tag along with how damn loud they are at max speed and you only being marginally faster will cause it to fail, also the video said he started to create these after being hit by a car, why? Was he just to slow on the walk to cross the street or was he hit on the sidewalk? Think about how many batteries you can cram into this tiny thing and how big a battery an electric board needs to have just couple km range. I'd not expect it to have more than 3 miles of range for $1399 lol. On top of that, they make this stupid bold claim that it is powered by AI - pardon, for what? It's as if you said those electric self-balancing boards are powered by AI, but it's a simple control loop that balances them. Also, what will you do if it catches fire in an unfortunate event? It probably won't be easy to take it off rapidly when the thing is burning on your feet. Working daily on computer science and electronics, I just can't take bullshit like this :/ Money can be better spent on projects that can really make some positive impact.
