I agree. I purchased a Gretsch P-90 Streamliner, which was the least expensive of my 6 electric guitars, but is the most played these days. Something about that P-90 sound, with the semi-hollow body, gives me thrills like no other guitar. Lightweight, gorgeous finish, and super comfortable to play & hold.

How noisy are the pickups?
@mattdevol9632 жыл бұрын
@@timholtguitar6999 I own 2 Gretsch semi-hollow body guitars, including the P-90 Streamliner, and neither one makes any noise. The P-90 is a bit brighter sound, but it is still my preferred practice guitar. Great value for the money and very high quality finish.
@josephduchene58492 жыл бұрын
@@timholtguitar6999 Some slight noise from bridge pickup with everything at 10, some gain on amp. Taking master volume down to 9 got rid of it completely, and they're a lot quieter than other P90 guitars I've owned. Would be confident recording & gigging with it, whereas a limited edition Epiphone I had with P90s was a real problem on stage. I tried it on a whim, fell in love, and am buying tomorrow. Just an absolutely sick guitar, let alone for the money.

Wow!! Great demo. I have watched many on this make and model and this is far by the best hands down. This just keeps it simple ,guitar,cable, amp and player. Not overdone with pedals, effects, backing tracks, production and etc, I have been debating about getting this guitar and I think I might be sold after this video. This guitar pairs well with the amp. Not really totally familiar with Mesa , but this model works well with the Gretsch. Thanks for showcasing.

Gretsch has been killing it the last 5 years, but only within the last year the Streamliner series got a revamp, and it shows with every model. that obviously bumped up the price of the Electromatic series, but i think it was worth it to inclease the Streamliner series. it reminds me of Squier.

Played this compared to other guitars around the same price and it is seriously spectacular value. Played Squiers, Epiphone 335, and it feels like a $300-400 price gap in sound/fit & finish. As far as pure specs, the G&L Tributes have the same electronics & hardware as their USA versions, but I like this a lot more than the Tributes I've tried.

I have the same guitar in white. 3 volume knobs, 1 master tone, 1 master volume. The forward switch (towards the headstock) controls to neck and bridge pickups like a normal two pickup design. The rearward switch is for the middle pickup only and in the up position isolates it from the neck and bridge PU’s. In the middle position it adds it to the mix, giving you all thee at same time. In the down position it shuts the middle PU off. A bit confusing but fun to play with all of the different sounds for sure.

@MooreMusicGuitars3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the music style you're playing. For ultra-clean, I would probably lean to the Sheraton, but if it's more gritty, the Fidelisonic pickups are really nice.
@whimpypatrol55033 жыл бұрын
The guitar unlike traditional gretsches having a centerblock is a take on an es335 (not a gretsch) with p90s played thru a 60's fender pro reverb. The only reason it still sounds like it has gretsch genes (despite it has a centerblock) is because 1. The amp was a boutique clone of an amp originally voiced for es335s and 2) the physical shape of the p90s in it preserves that great gretsch tone when played thru the Filmore amp. (Or does so after the recording of it was edited).

Their names are almost Ibanez insane. There are certain Gretsch guitars I eyeball here and there with an eye to possibly pulling the trigger if there's a sale or whatever. But I can never be certain of the name. Then starts the Google search hell, which I then usually opt out of altogether, because Google is painful nowadays. I wonder how many chances they missed with me and others with their robotic names.

They look like "staple" pickups, which were Gibson's answer to Gretsch/DeArmond "dynasonics" - they use magnets for each string (like strats and telecasters), rather than slugs magnetized by bar magnets underneath them, like P-90 and humbucker pickups. The "staple" and "dynasonic" pickups have more clarity than P-90 pickups. I'm new to this just now today, and was trying to figure-out which kind of pickup this is, still not sure - they sound great in any case!~
