I love these old Mongolian people. They are so nice and curious about the bike and everything. True gentlemans.

There is something so beautiful about these videos. The peace both in your voice and the manner in which you deliver your story. You seem completely unflustered, and incredibly determined. I also like that you never complain about the limits of your lower powered bike. Most permenantly grumble but you never do. Thank you for entertaining me so much.

Inspiring. I love the idea of small capacity, cheap to run everyday motorcycles for long distance. Take your time, settle in for the ride.

So interesting and challenging. While watching your journey across barren land, it makes me wonder how electric scooters or motorcycles could ever replace gasoline powered. I will always feel more confident of gasoline powered vehicles.

Doing this on a 50cc moped is the entire point though......I found it amazing what a 50cc 2 stroke could do watching all of this.....I bought a '99 Tomos to do something similar, I am doing a light resto on the bike over the winter and plan to hit the road summer '22. Not 13,000km worth but weekend type stuff.

Small bike, long travel, see more as you don't need to rush, good thinking and have gut, however did you encounter any engine break down (two stroke?) or tire punctured?
@maxitouring5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, 1 punctured Tire, changed pistonrings, one broken clutch and a few broken condensers from the ignition, not really anything else.

I love this series. Did you do this all on a stock maxi? That carb looks a bit different than the 70s-era bing I have on mine. :-)
@bjf104 жыл бұрын
Also with all the elevation changes did you have to re-jet?
@maxitouring4 жыл бұрын
@@bjf10 It's a stock 14mm Bing, the exhaust is not stock. And yes I had to re-jet quite a bit.

did you have any kind of phone reception or GPS on the road??
@maxitouring5 жыл бұрын
Yes, mongolia was really good with mobile data. Until I was back from Tajikistan I didn't have any GPS cause the module in my phone failed. Only in tajikistan I had prolonged periods without reception, but anywhere else it was surprisingly good, maybe the odd 30mins without reception while on the road in the middle of nowhere.
