The time is fast approaching when Paul and myself will be setting off for our 1000 mile adventure on ridiculous bikes
We were kindly gifted the Puch for the ride from a star of a man called Adam.
The BSA Ariel 3 takes some beating when it comes to bikes that shouldn't be ridden long distance but the current state of the Puch Maxi is giving it a run for it's money.

1976, I was 13 yrs old and my Granddad bought home a Puch Maxi in 3 cardboard boxes and said "if you can get it going it's yours". One of the best summers I spent! Have fun son and in a race, my money is on the Puch!!

As kids we used to have both of those machines for riding on some waste ground at the back of our house. It definitely brings back great memories.

My first ever motorbike, 1985 aged 16 was a Puch Maxi, 2nd hand obviously, cos i was just a poor boy, £40 as i recall, just short of a weeks wages. I could get it up to 30 MPH (downhill). Just watching it start up is bringing back memories. Looking forward to your next trip. Its gonna be a good un, trust me.

Fantastic news, looking forward to supporting you Lee. That Puch is the same one I had to get to Work and College on when I first left school 😂😂. 50 miles a day in all weathers wearing a hand painted stars n stripes piss pot helmet and my Dad's old waterproof suit, which would've fit me more than twice 😂😂. Happy times, made a man of me, hopefully it'll do the same for you 😂.

that brought back memories. In 1965, at the age of twelve, I replaced the barrel and piston on my dad's Puch Maxi and learned to ride on it. I had my first crash about five minutes later :D I'm still riding (just) this year... I suppose that if I make it to next summer, I'll have been riding for 60 years! When I saw that piston hanging out it all came flooding back :D Edited: I just checked and apparently it wasn't called the Maxi in the sixties...

my dad did a road trip with 3 freinds in 1943 when he was home on leave from the paras but they did thetford to south yorkshire to see my mum who was in the royal navy but they did it on push bikes

I have ridden a maxi back in the early-mid 80’s, I see he had a few paddock stands up on the wall….. won’t be needing them for your bikes 😜🤭.

I've looked into it but not much room in the engine bay, I have a spare engine so may look at porting and possibly upjetting. Might find a 70 kit for it but doubtful. Maybe a sail
