Thank you for the info on this fascinating herb. First time I tried curry leaves in turmeric rice and veggies, I fell in love. Another way to save fresh cuttings of curry leaves (and herbs in general) is to place them in a tall glass, jar, or small vase. The foliage makes a lovely green, aromatic bouquet for those healthy kitchen counter vibes! Change the water frequently, it should stay clear, and they will stay fresh until ready to use them. I do this with parsley, basil, chives, from my garden. So when I bought a large bundle of curry leaf cuttings at a local Indian grocery store and wanted the fresh leaves to last, the bouquet trick worked for about 2 months. I even let some of whole branches air dry, and the leaves still had a mild flavor.

Hi we South Indians cannot cook any curry without curry leaf. You can leave the leaf in the curry and eat it . So all the essence of the leaf can get in the curry. Curry is less tasty without curry leaf. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video

I didn't know they can go to seed after planting the tops, it could be worth doing just for that. Thanks for the recent videos, it would be nice to do a follow up video showing how all the plants you did got on? Though the situation is bad here in England, as elsewhere, the growing conditions have been great recently and my April tour at the allotment will be full of life, not just in the Polytunnels and Greenhouse as with March. All the best John.

İ live in SW Turkey so İ think that this would grow here in our garden. İ am not sure if we can get seeds here but can get from UK when Covid_19 restrictions are lifted. We have a small garden but since the lockdown here we have been using our chickens to clear the lawn & are planting veg & fruit. Thank you for all your information :-)

@MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife4 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be grown in a pot. In a garden. In a food forest as well It can get 2-3m but responds ok to trimming too

I have one about 5+ metres tall after maybe 25 years. I would recommend growing it in a pot, it would provide plenty of leaves, and my one suckers like crazy in the ground. Maybe not a problem if you can mow around it, but it annoys me!
@MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife4 жыл бұрын
@@thisearththeonlyheaven It also responds well to being trimmed, even if it's growing in the ground.

Do a bit of an internet search and you'll find many sources. You'll need to grow it as an indoor plant though.

Never heard of this tree before! Very interesting though! I do have some curry plants (Helichrysum italicum), which we sometimes use in different dishes (very hardy plant too, so very easy to keep). I doubt I can find the curry tree here in the Canary Islands, but I'll do some research about it. Thank you so much for all of the lovely info you gently give us!! I really love your Live at 5s by the way!!!
