What is the difference between values and morals? Do they inform and define each other?

Values are more like the things you think are important, whereas morals are personal rules of behaviour. So, for example, if your value is that marrige is important or sacred, then you will find cheeting immoral. If marrige is not a value to you, then you might be more relaxed about it. But it does get fuzzy when talking about, say, keeping your word: that's a value, but also a moral

Yeah - as @semper Suffragium said, they can inform and interplay with each other.

I do think that when humans are being honest, they will come to similar conclusions on condition, that they are in possession of all the facts. I firmly believe that a thing like the trans debate could be resolved quite quickly if only everyone was educated and honest. Other questions, however, cannot be sttled even under such perfect conditions. Abortion, for example, will always be percieved differently by different people, based on how highly they value life vs bodily autonomy and in such cases concensus must be sought.

Yep - but I feel science will one day make a pretty precise judgement (if it hasn't already) about when life begins. The lack of movement on Morals for many is simply due to lack of intellectual honesty..

@@TheDiscourseCollective Ehhhh... I think science has already told us where life beggins. The question is what to do after that until birth. But if we consider amebae (I probably misspelled that) to be alive, then a single-cell human must be as well.

@@TheDiscourseCollective But I'd be very curious to hear - if science said in no uncertain terms, that life beggins at X, would you consider every post-X abortion immoral?
