It's terribly disappointing this album wasn't as well received as the older ones. It sounds like classic Morbid Angel for me. It's just fucking awesome.

@@Stahlgrimmig Hell yeah! I so wish they'd release another one like this. It's heavy (but still melodic) as fuck. Classic Morbid, if you ask me.

It is decent but Treys lead technique has diminished a great deal on this album. I have been a fan since covenant and this is nowhere near as good in as far as soloing . Hopefully if they ever release another album , he gets his chops in order first .

Killer cut from ' Kingdoms..' It's a soundtrack to the apocalypse. Love the caustic double vocals that sound so sinister and ruthless. The drums sound like am industrial flesh and bone removing machine. So concise and impressive..alot of depth in this track. "3.57 a pause and then lava! 🔥

"Forefathers of death metal" is a bit of a stretch...I was actually there back in 1984 when the actual forefathers of death metal were creating the sound of death metal. While morbid did contribute to the genre after the fact, morbid was more or less the first american band to be playing more or less black metal all the way til 1990, many years after death metal was established. Altars influenced death metal but it wasn't til blessed that they really started turning in genuine death metal tracks. Once they did, they helped reshape the genre, but forefathers of death metal, they most certainly are not.
