I disagree. Many times he goes for full out shred and screws it up. But his reckless abandon is part of what sets him apart. And what do you mean his lease go somewhere? Where do they go? Into the next verse? Into a crazy whammy bar twerking tapping marathon. Huge old school fan here. I love Trey but he has brilliant moments and other moments.

Yes, there are times when he seems about to lose it, but his solos are epic, inventive and suit the moods of the songs. I'd give examples, but there are so many of them. Personal faves? Abominations, Dawn of the Angry, Rebel Lands, Invocation of the Continual One, Where the Slime Live, Rapture....

I remember Italian Metal Hammer gave a very bad review of this album, describing it as boring and something along the lines "they repeat the same scheme over and over again with no creativity" ... Listen to all their discography and you'll see little resemblance between them without taking away their trademark sound. That is quite difficult to do in any genre.
