I felt Morbius was a movie of great potential. It genuinely felt abruptly edited and there was way more detailing and run time that was chopped off. To be honest that was interestingly the only complaint the audience seemed to have at the theater. They were very happy with Letto as Morbius. They were cheerful with the sinister six hinting. They just complained about the abrupt narrative. It just seemed incomplete.
@andrewshandle2 жыл бұрын
I agree. It came in right at the 90 minute mark, same with Venom 2 which makes me wonder if Sony cares more about getting as many seatings/viewings as possible in the opening weekend than they do about the movie, because I agree that clearly they edited the crap out of the movie. More than just the original Keaton scene, about half of the original trailer are not in the movie. I will say that the end credits did get a vocal reaction from some people, more than the movie itself did, but I'm not sure that's really a good thing. If the strongest reaction is people cheering a reference to another movie, that's not great.
@sabatasmia87892 жыл бұрын
@@andrewshandle I guess we're pressuring them alot. Morbius was always supposed to be a plug in or introductory movie. When they made it, it was right before NWH and they were on the verge of pulling Tom out of MCU. So all that set up at that time seemed justified. We all remember Leto and his headpiece in the 2019 MET gala. Most of didn't know he was filming Morbius. But I must say Leto is a better Morbius then a Joker.

I feel like the editors had to cut a lot of their original ideas out (why it was pushed back its release until this month). Probably the Copyright/Legal issues Mr.Mickey & Co. Taunted like SC mentioned-lots of potential and it felt like it was okay…yet seen better kind of movie. If only corp. monkeys could get along to serve their customer base quality (stories) than quantity (random marvel ref). Then again, its just entertainment 🥴

Just finished watching Morbius. It wasn't that bad. Mostly felt rushed - like it could've benefitted from an extra half hour. Post ending did feel weird/dumb, but I'm hoping a later movie will clarify it (i.e. someone cast another spell in the Venom-verse that broke that one, pulling in Adrian for some reason - similar to but completely separate from Dr. Stranger's spell). Honestly, as long as Andrew comes back (and his next Spiderman movie isn't as schizophrenic as the last one), I might be willing to go along with it. Maybe he beats/helps these villains and it eventually leads into him meeting Madame Web and her letting him see some version of Gwen (Spider-Gwen movie!), allowing him to resolve his arc from Amazing Spiderman 2.
@kylinemordashov14522 жыл бұрын
im thinking about that too. But what if, since part of venom is left out, maybe that would explain? Maybe there is a mistake/window/hole on the spell. Cause everything should go back to where it belongs right? so why is part of venom left out? Plus they are in the same universe, morb and venom. so maybe that's why. idk.

It's completely put me off Sony thinking we won't read into the logic and just think "wow vulture is teaming up with morbius to fight spiderman"
@NonPlayerCactus2 жыл бұрын
See, the Venom movies aren’t *good* by any stretch but they’re at least entertaining and garnered their own little fanbase (myself included) for what they are. Plus the character has his own built-in popularity and is pretty recognisable among general audiences and comic book fans. But why the fuck would anyone think a Morbius movie was a good idea in the first place? Sony can’t have looked at all the Spider-Man characters and thought “Yeah that guy, everyone knows and loves him.” My theory is, at some point they realised this film wasn’t going to sell, so they bait & switched fans by putting nonsensical Spider-Man Easter eggs in trailers. But fans aren’t stupid, everyone noticed how the Spidey graffiti, the Oscorp tower and “I’m Venom” line didn’t add up and were all from different universes. You see, here’s what I think the underlying problem is: The (moderate) success of the Venom movies made Sony think that if they just make a Spider-Man related movie, then fans will come and eat it up, regardless of quality. So, they shart out anything, bait audiences into seeing their awful creations and even if it tanks at the box office or doesn’t make much money, then at the very least they can keep their license to use Spider-Man characters. I know this has been said before, but Marvel should buy the rights back. Spidey in the MCU isn’t perfect, but he’s far better off there than in Sony’s incompetent hands. Of course, Sony are so reluctant to sell the rights back though because Spider-Man is an IP with the potential to make them lots of money. Y’know, if they cared enough about making good Spider-Man movies.

Best way to explain would be that vulture forgot who Tom Spider-Man is, but still knows of a Spider-Man, When they all got sent back it sent vulture to A Spider-Man universe since now he no longer knows tom in his universe. Sony just sent him to a random universe where a Spider-Man exist (Andrews) because money.

A lot of people seem to be judging the actual movie based on the 2 credits scenes. In hindsight, Sony would've been better off with either No credits scenes, or a tease for a Morbius villain instead. Just watching the actual movie, it was fine. They should've cut their losses with the previously teased Spider-Man connections.
@drownoble2 жыл бұрын
The simple Why is... because Sony wants a Sinister Six movie and Vulture needs to be there. They failed to get the S6 going with Amazing Spider-Man, so they're trying again.... poorly. HOW he gets his Vulture suit back makes no sense. The suit is based off alien tech from The Battle of New York in Avengers. So him getting poofed to the Venom-verse would mean he has no access to that tech anymore. Yet, he shows up with it .. Because Sinister Six. Oh and Spider-Man is still in the MCU and not the Venom-verse soooooo Morbius would have no idea who "spider-man" even is. The post credit in Venom 2, Brock doesn't know who spider man is but Venom does. This implies Venom knows because of the hive-mind, possibly from Spider-Man 3. Morbius, without the post-credit scenes was alright. The added scenes kinda ruined the movie as it soured the ending.
@samurexatlas73732 жыл бұрын
So, I have a rickety at best explanation for why Toomes is in Sonyverse. Maybe he felt indebted to Peter/Spider-Man, and couldn't forget, so it just plonked him elsewhere. It's a way to explain it, but again, rickety at best.

I will say this, while I'm not really a fan of Leto he does do just about as much with the bad script he's given. Matt Smith is good too, as he has a more fun role he chews the scenery a bit more and is a fun watch. The problem with Smith is his character's motivations make absolutely zero sense because, as I mentioned, the script is absolute garbage. Also, clearly they threw out about 20 minutes of the movie to get it in under the 90 minute wire (like they did with Venom 2), I'm not saying a longer film would have been better, but it might have shed some light on why certain characters were doing what they were doing.

I just watched this movie and I thought it was pretty good. My friend and I didn’t like that his girlfriend turned into a vampire and we did t see her come back and help morbius in the final fight. Also as I was watching the last post credit scene I was wtf why would morbius join the vulture? He didn’t even know the guy and he’s just like sure let’s team up. I feel like morbius would/will turn on him when he realizes that he’s going hurt spider man and other people. His character story seems like he really doesn’t want to hurt anyone but then again if that was true he would have taken the poison after killing his evil friend.

1) Dr.strange only monitors threats entering into this (MCU) world not going away from MCU. So Dr.Strange would only focus on people coming into MCU not going out of MCU with the spell going wrong. I don't see why vulture (or any other MCU character that knew pete is spidey) shouldn't leave MCU. Remember that Dr.Strange's spell has no intentions to bring people into MCU but it happened nevertheless. Similarly pulling people out of MCU should make perfect sense if pulling them in does. (IMO, Dr.Strange's spell is the worst part of NWH. It's just lazy writing) 2) At the end of NWH, Dr.Strange casts a spell that made every one forget pete is spidey (everyone across all multiverse. Otherwise, he wouldn't have prevented people like kraven entering MCU and closed the rifts). Think about the fact that tobey's mary jane should also forget that he is spidey and he would have rough time with mary jane again after going back to this universe. So, it makes sense for vulture to forgot who spidey was and continue to exist in venom-verse as it is safe to assume that Dr.Strange casted a spell to push away people from MCU not pull back who's already gone (Again, like I said earlier, his spell was lazy writing and worst part of NWH) 3) Although I hated Morbius, what frustrates me more is everyone criticizing the end credits scene. If NWH made sense then Morbius end credits should also makes sense. If NWH didn't make sense then Morbius end credits also don't make sense. Personally, I don't care about NWH anymore (it's far from best spidey movie and highly overrated. Saying this after watching at least 5 times) and I don't care about Morbius either

Just because in No Way Home the rift brought people in to the MCU, doesn't mean it didn't ALSO cause some people to be pushed out into other universes. I think the Sinister Six name has become somekind a running joke within the Spiderverse Universe: Sony has desperately been trying to set-up the supervillain team and failing hard... TWICE. (I won't be surprised if they decide to reboot that idea again and again for the third and fourth time).
