Mordian Grail Knights are more survivable when combined with lady's gift then your on a 3+,6+,5+ save vs those goblin short bows! Or 3,5,5 vs strength 5 stuff which is cool! Are they as good as peg knights? No, are they cooler? Yes. Are they in my army. YES!

Mounted Yeomen can be used to carry Prophetess or Outcast mage boomstick in relative safety thanks to reserve move and feigned flight. Definetely a smash in my opinion. And Exiles get them as core. Btw, you forgot to mention that Yeomen guard also get a Veteran rule which means they will be rerolling terror etc. test with LD 9 or 10 in most cases. There is also cheeky option of using Brigands with crossbows and Desperado (why does Champion get 50pt magic items?) as Ruby Ring carrier if you do not like keeping it near front line.

@@bremer1701 I own roughly 50 peasant bowmen and roughly 200 men-at-arms, a trebuchet, 16 knights of the realm, a duke on royal pegasus, 20 knights on foot, a lord on foot, 30 battle pilgrims, 10 grail knights, 10 mounted yeomen, 3 questing knights and a damsel on foot. I cant use all that in a game and not all of its been painted yet, been more focused on my Imperial Guard army.

I think you're underselling the Yeomen Guard. For one point over Men-at-Arms you get a lot more than just +1 WS. They are also Veteran, and the big thing being they lose Levies, which means they can benefit from your General's leadership and your Battle Standard Bearer. That re-roll combined with Warband + Horde and Shieldwall (and possible Stubborn upgrade) makes them quite difficult to budge.

NEVER underestimate the battle pilgrims and knights on foot. Battle Pilgrims get access to the Blessing of the Lady ward saves so they have a stronger durability than peasants. Knights on foot staty with a 4 WS, have heavy armor, with options of shields and great weapons. Plus furious charge. Throw in the Blessing of the Lady and you have a core unit that can deal out the damage and withstand most beatings. Only other core unit that comes close maybe the Chaos warriors on foot. I've been playing in tournaments, and I always take the Battle Pilgrims and the Grail Regalia. Also, I take a unit of knights on foot with great weapons. Throw in a BSB paladin with the Grail vow, and the knights (with furious charge) hit hard. Then, with the Battle Pilgrims deployed next to them. Suddenly, I have an unbreakable and immune to psych unit backing them up. This combo has been hard for my opponents to break, and they have to decide which to focus on. My hammer of knights on horse, followed closely by a hammer and shield on foot, following close behind the knights This quandary has stumped several of my opponents to my victory. I also take a full pain train of Knights of the Realm with a Prophetess in it. Always with some assailment spell, Hammerhand or Spectral Doppelganger with the Sword of the Stout Heart. When charge or counter charge pops, she goes first with her spells, and the knights finish up. I never take Grail knights as they are too expensive and too easy to kill.

@@templarwhiskey8167 Ive checked but the pilgrims dont seem to get the Blessing. Only the reliquery. In 6th they did get it but it seems to be missing here unfortunately. Would really give them a good role as a tanky infantry block :-)

Grail knight hero with virtue of empathy, joins grail reliquary unit. Unbreakable stonks. Too expensive, probably, but it makes up Pagasus knights, right? I also really like knights errant, they're cheap with heavy armour and lances.

Hello, a question from a noob: What is the differance between the model for an orc and a black orc? Avatars of war have a model for "Orc Warlord mounted on Wyvern", could I run that as a black orc warboss on a wyvern if I sign up for an old world tournament? Would I need to paint it in some specia way?

So Black Orcs wear full plate armor, which looks a bit chunkier. Darker skin (duh) is easy enough to paint. Looks close enough to me for a tournament that allows proxies.

I really like when bretonia brings a mix of peasent or me. at arms and knights. It just doesnt feel right to only have hammers and no anvils, Only gold and no iron to complement it.

Elise is definately autoinclude in my book. What is more important for brets? +1casting or crippling enemy casting and abilities? especially since one of the greatest counters to brets is 1.magic missiles and 2.the fkn bretonian horn of nope

Excluding Characters: Smash: Bowmen, Mounted KotR, Pegas, Grail Knights, Men at Arms. Pass: Everything else IF Questing Knights were a core choice they were actually interesting. But they are super fragile AND they compete with Pegasus Knights. And thats a fight the Questing knights can not win.

They aren't trained from childhood, that said its a bit of a mechanical weirdness from combining 2 different units. In olde editions there were two different melee peasant units, regular peasant militia (ws2) and men at arms (ws3). The modern version is hybridized.

squires are better than archers when you want to pick men at arms as the mandatory peasant. they are cheap they skirmish and they come in 5 men squads. while archers are quite underwhelming with their measly bows and come in 10s. also dont compare any unit with the empire roster. empire army roster is crap utter crap (i have an empire army i know the pain). overpriced and under powered across the board. now Brettonia is weird right now one one side peasant men at arms are great tarpit and on the other their cav while cool it has its issues that you pointed. and as the edition dictates for most armies your characters will be the main hitters of your army. overall your assessment is mostly on the mark. generally speaking in a normal game Brettonia is a fine army to play with/against as most of the armies out there (empire/skaven are the exception they are crap). in a competitive setting well Bretonnia can counter the current monster meta so they are on the to armies, for now. for reference i have been playing Brettonia since 1999 (i also have high elves and empire).

23:45 That +1 toughness does a LOT of work, they are nearly as durable for points as knights of the realm for any attack less than str 6. Edit: Grail knights are a hard smash, the only thing keeping them from being an absolute auto include is that they are competing for a similar role to pegasus knights, but I have consistently found grails do far more damage matching the mathhammer calcs, and basically crushing other elite units in a way pegasus knights can't.

@@bremer1701 Mathematically that ranges from kinda true to only technically true. S6 obv they are frail comparatively to kotr (errants suck so there is no point comparing them), S5 they are 26.7% more frail, s4 they are 18.75% more frail, s3 they are 5.6% more frail. So the s4 gunline will in terms of points eliminated be 18% more effective... But when they get into melee (turn 1, 2 at latest), the grail knights will do over 50% more damage versus basically everything per point. (even vs hypothetical ws6, t8, which is a basically impossible combo to slant things in favor of kotr, grails do 26% more damage. Versus a normal elite unit with ws 4-5 t 4. The difference is 110% more damage per point (not counting the horses, counting them its "only" 200% damage per point)

Before TOW it was completly unthinkable and pure heresy even considering leaving Grail Knights at home. But i have not played a single unit since TOW dropped.

@@bremer1701 I used to be a dump grail knights girl, but every monster ever just eats the round 1 hits and then grinds them down, grails are the best for killing medium monsters and elite units. That said using all your points on it is a big miss, 1-2 5 knight units is all you need.

​@@bremer1701Most things are hitting your grails on 4s or 5s. Wounding you on 4s or 5s. Giving you your full armor save, ward, and regeneration if you took a damsel. They're not fragile, They're just not a mindlessly dumb unit like peg knights
