The first game of 10th I played against a guard was a tallarn army of gryns loaded in taurox and some chimeras he's been playing since they were metal figures. He's accidentally meta. Which proves always go rule of cool, and one day your cool will rule.

I've used a Chimera with 3 Ogryns inside in my last game, I intented to run them up the right side to take on the space marine snipers on the other side of the field, however my enemy deep striked a unit of relic terminators behind me. With move, move, move from lord Solar I was able to intercept them before they reached the squishy underbelly of my army by using the Chimera to block their lane of advance and dropped of the Ogryns, they held the line until the game was basically won, keeping the termis of my home objective that was held by Creed and an infantry squad. So 3 Ogryns in a chimera are actually not just great offensively, but also lets you quickly respond to deep strikes in your back line

it's also in lore, that even if it takes extra bribing, it is common to try to get ogryn in transports and to the front fast as possible. so this tactic is pretty viable

Servitor unit can only take 2 weapon. I know it can hold a lot but you would also two Enginseer so you can get the servitors hitting on 4+ with the order. Also does the vehicle need to not move to get the Heavy bonus? Then 3+ plasma cannons are pretty nice.

@@earnestbrown6524 it would need to stand still to gain All the heavy bonuses. I was thinking 2 servitor squads, you could also squeeze in another 10 man platoon squad with another heavy weapons. Thats 23/24 firing deck.

Hear me out: Lord Solar Regimental Enginseer Stormlord - HWS (3xLascannon, HB or whatever) - 3x Ogryn - 3x Ogryn - 5x Sniper Ratlings - 5x Sniper Ratlings - 5x Sniper Ratlings 1000pts onn the nose. That's 39/40 transport slots used. It's 24 actual models all able to shoot. The Ratlings kan disembark in movement, shoot, reembark in shooting and the Stormlord then gets to also use their guns. That's 30 precision shots. The main issue I see is Lord Solar getting shot to shit real fucking ricky tick xD Solar does however let us redeploy all of our units, after opponent has deployed.

If you want to run 2 of the super heavies with Ogryn and try for some balanced firepower... What about running 2 Doomhammers with a full squad of Ogryn in each? You're still getting 33 "heavy bolter" shots (51 at 9 inches), but now you're adding the D6+3 Magma cannon shots to your 4 lascannons. You will be in close range anyway, and if firing at a vehicle or monster, you get the D6+6 damage out to 24 inches anyway. At 605pts each or 1210 for both, that still leaves you with enough for a large infantry or artillery detachment.

I think there is a miscalculation in there somewhere For the fake taxi, in 9" range, you get: -heavy stubber: 6 shots -heavy bolter: 2x3 = 6 shots -lasgun array: 12 shots -ripper gun: 2x 6 = 12 shots That does 36 shots, not 42. Un less i am.missing something?

Ive played guard for 22 years. I've got over 20k of guard...all painted. NEVER have I heard Ogryn Bang Bus, and could have gone my entire life not hearing it...but now i want to run this simply for the memes and my local game store.

Was thinking about the shortbus tactic along with a enginseer with servitor squad in a second chimera. Same cost as the shortbus and can keep the chimeras alive while adding either multimeltas or more heavy bolters and arent bad in melee either...still leaves 8 open slots in the transports as well...

Another down side of taking the stormlord is that competitive tables now in 10th are pretty cramped if they're using the GW layouts. So it's very much the case that you will have a difficult time deploying your super heavy tank, and then you might only barely be able to move the tank.

Good question, but those Wargames Atlantic Ogryns are 9 for 35 bucks, so the price point doesn't have to be terrible if you do. :)

I'd go full Ogryn battle bus. Yes, it may be twice the price, but it also has twice the value when combined with overwatch. Not just 129 shots in your turn, but 129 shots in your opponents turn too, along with the benefit of higher toughness and wounds to chew through, before releasing the very rabid nut inside. One very angry distraction carnifex designed to remove almost anything that can legitimately score objective points against you. Even against tougher targets, with that volume of fire you'll still scrape wounds off!

Firing deck does not work in overwatch, it’s a phased ability you are triggering out of phase, rules commentary for the clarification on this.

Reporting for Duty , Sir o7 The fake "taxi's" is an awesome idea . With 3 of them with a Scout Sentinel run near by would be a terror for most Armies The bang bus sounds cool until on table , your opponent will have 75% of his Army firing at it 1st turn . I doubt the Storm Lord can handle that much punishment

@mordian I can see you point about volume of fire on the Chimera vs stormlord but the stormlords fire power is way better and its survivability with a tech priest would be fantastic not to mention order economy. It will also be the biggest target on the battle field soaking up volumes of fire. One thing against it though is that its a huge model with limited places it can go.

Have run this in a local RTT 2 wins and a loss to Imperial Knights who unfortunately could rapidly deal with the Stormlord. Main issue is tank type armies such as Knights who you struggle to wound.

I kinda want to see you rocking ogryn bangbus in action at a tournament. Would be hella fun. Heck why don't you go full Ogryn, with three chimera's rocking 4 bullgryns each in addition. Of course, you'll need ogryn bodyguards in every command squad as well. And if you're cheeky, have the stormlord rock two full ogryn squads and one command squad with ogryn BG, while the third squad drives around in the fake taxi. It'll be all ogre.

I miss when the Stormlord could fire twice. Would have been even better. Also bangbus could get the rapid fire boost order for a few extra shots. Would be worst I'm sure but few more shots. Get that russ with -1 ap boost. And might be ok at killing armor?

No they don’t. Technically it’s the transport shooting their weapons. But that’s nice if you can order the transport with Lord solar or a vehicle commander

I think the Stormlord is great with the overwatch strat, start with Kasrkin or Catachan for the scout move then the mortar teams can move into it and make it rain.
