Hi after watching your video I went out and ordered one just arrived today and boy is it good. I was able to complete 3 tanks 48 wheels. It has saved me so much time. It has paid for itself already for me. Thanks great review. Cheers Abdul ( Sydney Australia )

I just purchased one Of the MT-C cutters. It looks like it’ll be a nice addition to my modeling supplies. I purchased mine from Amazon and it arrived in just over a week. Your video was very helpful.

I'm glad it was useful. I love mine. I take a bit to get used to especially since the measurements aren't labeled. but once you do it's an awesome tool. I masked an entire engine pully set in one go once.

Your holding the OLFA wrong. It's to be used with one hand like using a compass. It may not cut small circles but it works great when used correctly.

For me it doesn't work any better one handed or two. Again I said "for me". If it works for you, fantastic. Enjoy. For me, not so much and I chose to share a product that works better for me and my workflow. Have a great day!

Hey Justin, I didn't know about the center locator. I bought a cheaper knock off of the circle cutter & regretted it instantly. I ended up getting the more expensive Dspiae. I don't mind paying more for a good quality tool. I'll be adding the center locator to my arsenal.

If you have the one with the red square metal casing like I do, the center locator is an absolute must. It should have been included in my opinion.

Hi, do you have any ideas how to use this for the MT EC model? The circular one.
@JHartModelworks
@JHartModelworks Жыл бұрын
Hi, the center locator is specifically designed for the square body one. From what i can see the MTCE is literally the same cutter just without the red aluminum outer body, but the body is what locates it.

so here's a question. how well do you think this would work with 1mm thick clear plastic.
@JHartModelworks
@JHartModelworks Жыл бұрын
Hi, I've actually tried that and it doesn't work well at all. Even thin acetate takes a very long time to cut through. The blades just aren't sharp enough for plastic. For tape it's great i love it and use it all the time. Plastic is a no. Honest opinion.

Hey Justin do you have the dspiae electric sander? I have the mr. Hobby version but you have to keep pressing on the button to use it which is a little strained, if so do you like it?

I picked up a bunch of Dspiae tools, despite being a modelling novice. These things are so nice, they make me feel like cutting, carving, sanding, etc. all over the house lol. But does anyone know the meaning of the claim "reducing the difficulty of spray paint," marketed on the circle cutting tool? I can't for the life of me figure out what this is referring to. Even if it's a case of a poor "Engrish" translation, I don't see how a cutting tool has anything to do with spray paint, unless I'm just a newbie buffoon?
@JHartModelworks

I love my Nippers and circle tool. I could only assume they are talking for the purposes of masking circles for spraying. This cutter makes perfect circles really quick and easy. I use it to mask wheel centers all the time as well as pullies. If you check the engine update on the Jaguar XJ220 build the belts and pullies have a bunch of different pullies painted in various colors, and the circle tool made masking that a breeze. I also used it to cut a bunch of perfectly round racing number roundels for Shawn at The Scale Model Car Guy Channel recently. I meant to cut 4 and before I realized it I had cut 12 perfect circles from white decal paper in a minute or two. Thanks for watching.

@@JHartModelworks Thanks for replying! I think that's the most logical explanation! Better than what I came up with, certainly! 😋 Why so many Asian companies rely on subpar English translations, I don't know. You'd think if they're already going to go to all the trouble of creating a high end, almost prestige-type line of products, they may as well commit to that same high standard all around, including with the translations for international customers. I know it's commonplace & you could argue it doesn't matter, so long as the tools function properly, but as a newbie coming into model making, it can be tricky to differentiate sloppy workmanship from something that's just sloppily translated.

@@bumbledouche3323 I can definitely see your point. Poor English is often a warning sign for knock offs and scams. At the same time Chinese and English are both very complex languages, and sometimes things just really don't translate well between the two. Shrug. Or they could just be saving a buck, Who knows.
@bumbledouche3323

@@JHartModelworks I sometimes wonder if it's a case of them getting swindled - they hire someone who *says* they know perfect English, but nobody on the team knows the language well enough to verify. Who knows.

It looks like you have way too much pressure on the blade, judging by the amount that deflection of the tension spring, and the way the blade dragged around the circle. I wonder if that’s why you can’t cut thin acetate. I have no problem with mine. Also, I don’t think that there’s a magnet in the tool holder, as I’ve never been able to have it snap it away from me. I use the tiniest dab of petroleum jelly on the shaft of the blade, and it spins freely w/o falling out.
@JHartModelworks
@JHartModelworks Жыл бұрын
Mine definitely has a magnet. It's not strong, but i can feel it pull, and the blade never fails out for me. When i made this video, i had only been using it for a couple weeks. Thanks for watching!

Hi thanks for watching. I am still very happy with this tool and use it frequently. I use it all the time for masking tires and pullies, as just one example. While I may not use it on every build I am very thankful I have it when I need it. One thing it does seem to struggle with is very small circles like 1 or 2 mm. I've used it for 3 and up though with no issues.

@@mrblackseedszip1799 You made me re-watch my own video lol. I did spin counte clockwise on the dispae cutter which is the direction the arrow points. As for the yellow the Olfa cutter I wasn't really trying to demo how to properly use it, so much as just demonstrate that it doesn't work well for me. Maybe it's great for others, and more power to them, but not for me. I completely agree it would be nice if it had a digital measure like my calipers, and if the adjustment was more precise.
@skuki1980

Olfa cutter is not crappy. It is good value for the money. I use it a lot. Of course it wobbles cause you're already using it incorrectly. You don touch the end of the tool, especially you don't use force on it to make circles. The olfa cutter is not really comparable to Dspiae one. But if you don't have Dspiae it is still a nice tool and you made it look like a piece of total crap which is not true. I was always able to make a reasonable circles, since you didn't manage to get a single reasonable circle, it's clear you don't know how to use it
@JHartModelworks
@JHartModelworks 2 жыл бұрын
That is entirely possible. For me, it doesn't work for my hobby. Maybe I do not know how to use it, maybe it just doesn't work for me, The Dspiae works better for me. If the olfa cutter works for you then fantastic stick with it. I am in no way saying my way is the only way. This isn't war, politics, or religion, it's a hobby. Do your hobby in whatever way makes you happy. I simply found something that worked better for me and chose to share with my viewers in case they might be interested. Have a great day and thank you for visiting my channel. 😃

@@JHartModelworks I understand that it doesn't work for you, but I feel like the viewers might get the impression from the video that it is generally total crap tool, which is simply not true. I appreciate this tool cause cause I was able to make a really good use of it in my builds, especially before when I was scratchbuilding more than today. I've cut masks, templates, styrene etc very nicley. For smaller dimensions I've used punch and die. It is clear that the Dspiae is superior tool, no doubt (it has also a superior price). Anyway, this video was very helpful and I have decided even more to buy Dspiae, but it is very difficult to find it in stock here in EU. thanks
