This reminds me of an access control circuit. Just got to hook up a power supply and a mag lock to that relay and you can lock all the doors wirelessly by just turning off the lights! In the schematic I saw interfacing with relays they usually had the comparator output hooked up to a resistor at the base of a transistor and the relay connected to the collector, Vcc and a diode to suppress voltages from the interfacing device.

Had an awful time trying to get this circuit to work for a project. You know it helps when you use the correct chip. Tried using a LM393, but thought I was using a LM358. Getting old I agree. Nice video, not sure if you look at the comments on old videos anymore! Thanks always.

postive feedback with hysteresis would be greate with the reelay thing. Keep up the nice work!

That clears things up a little more. Thanks!

learnelectronics both doing well thanks for asking. I can't believe how often she eats. A true Italian lol.

+Michael Padovani oh yeah, I remember when my 13 year old son was a baby, eat-sleep repeat. I'm Italian too. Feed her some gnocchi.

even with ldr you could add a little motion sensor in

Can these be used to run 7 segment displays. Basis ones for just counting up and down???anyone??

Just one question! Is there a reason to use an OPAMP like the TL072 as a comparator, instead of using say an LM339 which is designed to be a comparator? Now I have used the fourth input of the TL074 as a comparator since I already had it in the system as an amplifier. I did not want to add in another chip.

+Carl Davis No reason, just an example on how any opamp can be a comparator
@argcargv7 жыл бұрын
Except that a comparator will be much faster at switching than an op amp. The op-amp will only transition as fast as the slew rate allows, which often is fairly slow in comparison to a true comparator.

@@learnelectronics hello I have the UA741 op amp but I can't manage to get -Vsat as my output. My output is always positive building the same comparator as you. Turning the potentiometer leads the led to shine strong or weak. only 2 possibilities so I have the digital output but always positive ... Thank you for all your videos by the way :)

Why ur output volt at 7.4 volt. Not exact 9 volt...? I need to have comparator out put to exact same volt as vcc volt.. how to do pls
