The Grandma Catfish story.. I would really take her to the dr. At her age she could be having a major cognitive decline and this is the first sign of it. It doesn’t always show as you would think, everyone is different and can be hard for family to see it. Mike it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s dumb 🤦🏻‍♀️ especially since her granddaughter said it’s very out of the ordinary

@@Kkshep While I don't disagree with you on that, I think it was coming from a place of naivety that the idea that it is a strong sign that there might be some end of life mental decline that has caused the situation simply never occurred to him in the moment. He may be lucky enough not to have had to deal with any of that in his family and so it just isn't where his mind went

For the first story with the grandma, I would tell the family to look into a court appointed conservatorship with their local law enforcement/courthouse so that she does not have control of her money. Since she has had a history now of making bad financial decisions that are harmful to her herself. Normally the family would contact the courthouse or their local district/county attorney for more information about that.

100% agree. I think the whole Brittney thing may have made people think conservatorships are always evil but there are times when it is absolutely a sad but necessary step to take

@@jasonhunter2819 yes exactly! I am a legal assistant at a county attorneys office and there are many cases in which conservatorship is desperately needed. And sadly, there are many people who fall into the scams and refused to see the truth. :(

Absolutely. It's 100% necessary in this instance. If she isn't able to make sound decisions, especially in regards to her money, a financial power of attorney is completely necessary here.

@@laurenc3367 yes! Unfortunately, a POA does not give you power over someone, just in conjunction which is why I mentioned going even further with something court ordered. Court ordered conservatorship would be involuntary and would make sure that she could not make any kind of transaction herself, while a POA would allow her to continue doing whatever she wants. Also POAs have to be signed by someone who is in sound mind and has to be their decision, someone cannot be forced if they don't want it.

Here to comment about the wedding story - 100% on the writers side BUT I do think the reason why the bride isn’t allowing plus ones is because she (or the fiance too) have the complex that they don’t want anyone at their wedding they don’t know well. Not saying that is okay but just a perspective I didn’t see mentioned.

I haven’t watched in weeks due to the hate talk on Christians. I came back, got half way through and remembered why I don’t watch this. The boyfriend is all of a sudden going in the direction of becoming right wing extremist because he’s going to a men’s retreat?!?! Little much there. I agree with the advice to break it off due to the difference on their religion but you all are so extreme. Would you say the same about another religion like being Muslim? No. Because you can get cancelled for hating on any religion expect for Christianity

It’s one of those things we wouldn’t understand as a Christian. I used to be an atheist before turning to Christianity and if my partner started driving an hour every week to church men’s retreats, it would have rubbed me the wrong way back then.

Having different religious practices/beliefs than your partner can be difficult to navigate. I just didn’t appreciate how they made this person sound like he must be going in the direction of becoming a right wing extremist because of it or his algorithm must be full of extreme right wing creators. If the person decided to start practicing the Muslim faith, would they have said “oh watch you. He is probably becoming an extremist that’s going to join Al Qaida

I can look past the political talk happening every episode because it’s healthy (in my opinion) to hear from and still support people you like regardless of their political stance. However, it is simply disrespectful to degrade Christianity. You wouldn’t do it to any other religion. This is in regards to the story about the boyfriend who has become a Christian. If the girl doesn’t agree with it, then that’s fine, but to degrade him when he’s found something he loves and gives him joy isn’t okay in my opinion.

I’ve been a long-time viewer since the beginning, and it’s really disappointing to hear Christianity spoken about so negatively. With over 2 billion followers, it’s the largest religion in the world, and many people, like the boyfriend, find deep fulfillment in their faith. I completely agree with you guys that the couple should seek partners who align with their beliefs, but it’s hurtful to hear such harsh words about something so meaningful to so many. I’ve never seen this level of criticism toward other religions on Good Influences, and it feels especially off considering one of your co-hosts, Matt, just got married in the Catholic Church. Mike is proud of his Jewish faith and is respected in the space, but when it comes to Christianity, it’s quickly labeled here as ‘extreme’ or ‘brain rot.’ Religion is a positive thing, it’s not something people “get caught up in.” I know your viewers’ opinions are often dismissed, but I wanted to speak up for your Christian audience as well. Poking fun at political views is one thing, but laughing at someone for praying is really crossing the line. At the end of the day, all religions deserve respect, and I hope you guys can take that into consideration for future podcasts. Still love the show and the discussions, just think as hosts you guys could have a little more compassion ♥️

Totally agree with you on this! I’ve listened to every episode of this podcast but recently it’s been hard to watch them with all the hate on the Christian religion. I couldn’t believe they made fun of people praying before they eat. Everyone is welcomed to their opinions but disrespecting an entire religion is rough to listen to. I read a comment saying they wouldn’t talk about the Muslim religion like this and that is so true. Just because someone is Christian doesn’t mean they are this far right extremist that supports trump. I have my relationship with God and I do not support trump & I believe in women’s right to choose. Both these things can be true.

I totally agree with you, I’ve listened every week since they started, and the way they talk about Christianity just seems to get more negative with every episode. When Carly said, “I know the Christians don’t like when we talk about it,” it was clear they’re aware of how it comes across to their audience. And Erin laughing at someone praying over food, when over half the world, including people of other religions (like Judaism!), practices that, is very ignorant.. Anyway, I really hope they take this feedback seriously and show more respect moving forward ♥️

I love this podcast but Mike is the most insufferable, narrow-minded, intolerant, ignorant, judgemental, elitist, condescending man I have ever listened to. It especially got to me in this episode when he made a snide remark about politicians not supporting ‘anti’ climate change legislation. I mean god forbid a politician has the common sense to not spend millions of dollars of tax-payer money on an issue which is largly due to China, India, Russia and Brazil and won’t make a single drop of difference while these countries aren’t ever going to stop polluting the earth… especially considering the actually beneficial things that same money could be spent on. Sure it’s just a snappy remark but it demonstrate’s a complete lack of critical thought in the man and exemplifies his general ignorance and ‘holier than thou’ attitude. Not to mention the disdain any time Christianity is mentioned… the hypocrisy of the guy, he would be SILENT if any other religion were mentioned…
