If I was related to him , I would have been proud that he stood up for himself and was not pressured by a fiancé to give up getting a pre-nup . That takes a strong man because most love the woman they are marrying , and would normally emotionally give in to avoid losing her . But he surprised her with his determination.

This. It is not strange to want to protect the ability to not put future kids in a hard situation because of their dad once broke your trust (and maybe will cheat on Mom again), or was in a profession where brain injuries that can make your personality change really bad can make things really change. CTE, eearly on set dementia where the person forgets promises, becomes violent, personality changes, earlier death. It is NOT unreasonable.

When I told my father my marriage was over with a 4 year old and 10 month baby I was so scared that he would be disappointed. He hugged me and said let’s sit down and figure this out. emily -- i never made it to getting the ring on my finger from the proposal, but i thank the universe every single day that i never did. its 5 years ago this year that i had to walk away from the person who i swore would be my forever. suddenly after 5 years, he no longer knew if he wanted to get married/have kids and asked me to wait another 5 years to "see if his mind changed" -- it is 5 years later this year, and i am so happy that my life did not pan out the way i had planned or thought. hes married now and has 2 kids; he'd been cheating on me with her for 3 of our 5 years. im 33 (freshly turned on the 4th!), sitting in my own apartment with 2 of our 3 dogs that *i also adopted and paid for all 3 and he refuses to give me back my last girl :(*, and finally love myself and my alone time. dont get me wrong -- this shit gets lonely as hell at times. however, i would be a lot more lonely if i'd stayed and waited 5 years, had 2 kids with a guy who didn't really want them, and have a marriage that i am miserable in. you have come so far, and the journey has barely begun for this whole new world and book for you -- and YOU get to decide whats going on in it, and how it all moves forward now is entirely up to you. im so proud of you for how far you've come, and i can't wait to continue watching you heal and grow on your tt. you are absolutely crushing it, and please don't forget that. also -- allow yourself to feel when the emotions come out, your body is looking to release the emotions for a reason and holding it in will just make it all worse when it does eventually come out. thank you, allison, for being such a great sister to emily during this. your sisterhood is so beautiful and clearly full of so much love ❤❤

Well written! This was so beautiful. I am 57 now, and after being in an abusive relationship (physically, mentally and verbally ++), and dating for a little while after that at about the age of 40 I decided I have yet to meet a person who has made me feel they deserve my love. And there’s no one who deserves it more than myself. So my focus became my two children, and myself, and today it still remains myself. I have no desire to date, I have no desire to live with another man, I have no desire to engage in any type of romantic relationship with a man at all. My life is happy and I’m happy and am living it exactly how I want to live it. Don’t get me wrong that does not mean if God were to hit me over the head with the perfect man at the perfect time (and it would literally take him hitting me over the head with him 😮because I probably wouldn’t pay any attention otherwise) I feel like I would pay attention because I know it was God‘s plan. But my plan for now is to leave it in God‘s hands and enjoy my life. Yes that’s not for everyone, and lots of people can’t stand being alone, but I enjoy me. Enjoy my family when I spend time with them. For now it’s how my life will be. I do have a furry little companion 🐶and she is the best. @@leaholton8924 i feel the exact same way that should the time come for the guy for me to appear, so be it. however, i’m no longer “searching” i guess they’d say; i’m simply existing and will see whatever comes along my path. i do *not* have it all figured out, but i sure as shit have a lot more figured out now than i ever would have figured out had i stayed. i may always have moments of the “what if” but i will always come back to the same question at the end of that spiral: “what if you hadn’t trusted your gut and trusted yourself?” and DAMN does that bring me back to reality. he was not my person, and for the heartache that i still can feel at times it is nothing compared to the heartache i would be going through if i had never driven away.

I can see why it would be hard for her when he got injured. My boyfriend got injured and couldn't do Jujitsu/ compete and it took a toll on him emotionally to the point where he was upset and depressed bc he loved doing it so much. This affected our relationship negatively at the time.
