Who makes the most accurate AR-10 barrels? Or at least a good direction. Plus a good way to calculate twist rate. I had an m110 on my AR-10 308 and got a faction promise after the rifling went out. The best I can get that is 0.788 which we both know for an accurate barrel that's s***

I always go 3/4x24 thread on my muzzle device barrels. 5/8x28 is too small for 30 cal.

@Forumrida38621 nothing wrong with that. I never understood the thought behind having a nice thick barrel and chopping it down to 1/2 x 28 or 5/8 x28 doesn't make sense. Yes I understand the standard sizes.

If having things on the end of a barrel reduced accuracy would we not be seeing most competitive shooters running barrels without brakes or tuners? It seems to me that in a competitive setting where every advantage you can give yourself is sought after they wouldn't be running these things if accuracy was reduced.

I don't think your assumption that BR shooters don't use muzzle breaks is because they affect accuracy negatively. I think you'll find that muzzle breaks are not allowed to be used because they negatively effect the shooter next to them. The same applies to F Class shooters. Many F Class & BR shooters use tuners though so, I'm not sure what you've seen at matches. Although most use tuners, I don't believe that the tuners are effective because of the tuning aspect, it's much more to do with the addition of mass on the muzzle. It' makes sense really that an effective mass at the muzzle must dampen any movement by decreasing the frequency which reduces the amplitude within the same time period. Although to date, I've yet to see any serious scientific data on the phenomenon, there are so many thousands of anecdotal claims over many decades that, I concede that it must be factual.

@@quarterminutemagnums Muzzle breaks are used quite universally it appears, with PRS shooters who typically want to reduce rifle movement to spot the hits or the misses. I've not heard any complaints concerning accuracy so, I'm somewhat perplexed as this is the 1st time I've heard that breaks affect accuracy negatively. There was one break manufacturer I recall who maintained that a certain minimum diameter was necessary to reduce what he theorized was bullet upset from the bow wave or shock wave around the bullet as it passed through the break so, he recommended the next calibre size up from the calibre being used. Just recently, some guys who do very high speed footage did an episode on muzzle breaks filming bullets as they passed through the breaks. It was very interesting & the footage shows very clearly the gas being vented away from the bullet, allowing it virtually unhindered progress away from the muzzle. By contrast, they also filmed the same footage without muzzle breaks & the difference is quite profound whereby, in some instances, the bullet can be seen to be shunted & upset by the raging gases overtaking the bullet from behind. It did indeed appear that muzzle breaks do offer a far more steady & settled exit from the barrel & I have to say that after seeing that footage, I can't imagine that a break would negatively effect the bullet launching process. The channel was called Ballistic High-Speed & it is well worth watching.
