More complaints.. now what? + R32 Skyline Build

It seems as though ‪@PrizzaNate‬ and I can not escape the county. We are faced with yet another 2 letters from the county.
Nate has owned his Nissan Skyline r32 project car for a few years now. It's finally time to upgrade some of the older parts on it. We install HKS GTR coilovers and go for a test drive / drift.

Also just to add, about 30% of houses here have overgrown grass, actual abandoned cars, and cars / boats on the grass 😬

the car navigation screen says: Turning on navigation. If that's okay, please press the "confirm" button. nate pressed the "confirm" button (確認） the lower portion is talking about enabling "storefront mode", probably for a showroom or something. you have to press and hold the lower button "for over 2 seconds" to enable that mode then it says: "note: in storefront mode, when enabling the route setting, it will automatically start a demo run." which i guess means it'll demo GPS routing functionality

Pretty wild how much ride height changes the look of the car, you wouldn't expect a 1in-2in drop to make that big of a difference but it does

those HKS coils are using progressive rate springs, that's the term you were looking for, they get stiffer as they compress more and more which is better for ride quality but also means you really shouldn't preload them more than a few mm at most since you're actually making the spring stiffer when you preload it. with linear rate springs, you're really meant to get the shock absorber setup to where the bump stop hits right before your tire hits the body and then preload the spring (since it doesn't change how stiff it is) to affect height but progressive springs are more track oriented and have to be setup a bit more carefully also, already noticing improvements to the videography, a lot of the shaking from last time is gone, looking way better man 🤙

That's crazy. I thought things were more relaxed out there in the midwest but you have a county acting like an HOA. I live in upstate NY and the only stipulation in my town is that you can't have unregistered vehicles sitting around, which I don't think I've ever heard of it being enforced because there is no police department and only one codes enforcement guy. On a side note, those rear coilovers need some kind of bushing or spherical joint on the bottom because as the knuckle goes up and down and the suspension flexes, the angle is going to change and your going to end up putting a lot of stress on the coilover. It might even break.

Nate should do that as chassis front suspension on the R 32 if he plans on making it his primary gift car It would feel exponentially better sideways and he could get more angle out of it compared to the stock, suspension geometry if you guys decide to do that, I would love to see it 🤙🏻 keep up the 🔥 content Mike. I had the same exact issue before. Turns out neighbors just don't like to see cars that have mismatched colored panels in the front yard. Paint your cars, make them look presentable and this problem should go away. It's been 5 years since I got any complaints from my HOA

You have vehicles that are on the grass where the grass looks like its been growing too long and they are not moved. That is why they are going after you, because of what it looks like. If you make an attempt to shuffle the cars around and actually make it look like its not overgrowing, you'll probably be left alone. Just something to think about. ✌

It’s funny because my brothers Holden Rodeo was parked outside of our house on the street for a good month or so when the engine blew (was still registered with the plates on btw) and someone complained about it. Yet a block away someone has a busted up Morris Minor and some old golf buggy thing parked on the street. And guess what? The bottom of that shock needs to rotate with suspension travel, it's why they always either have a bushing that twists or a balljoint/pillowball type of thing that can rotate. Solid sleeve like that will bind. Maybe you could use thrust bearings as a washer to let it rotate freely.

its a progressive rate spring, meaning it does not have one constant spring rate...it gets stiffer as it compresses. This is what gives a fairly smooth ride over minor bumps and mostly smooth road...but will bang pretty hard over larger bumps because when compressed much further it gets stiffer as it goes, so you can still sit pretty low while maintaining a decent ride. *ITS IMPORTANT* to know whether your springs are progressive or linear, when considering any preloading of the spring, because with linear it does not matter as much but with progressives it does because you will be soaking up that soft zone by preloading. Then the ride can be really BAD and sometimes unpredictable especially if the front and rear are loaded differently. That's why you should never make adjustments to height by using preload, even if it means doing the extra work to disconnect the bottom or top whichever needs to spin to extend out or shorten shock body.

Great image quality, in daylight try a good quality polarizing filter, for example from B&W, it should improve light reflections and make the colors more saturated. Sony AF cameras also offer a dedicated configuration for focusing on cars.

On one hand you should be able to do just about anything you want on your own property, but on the other hand, some people will take it too far with non-operational vehicles and there's no clear divide between the two. I think a fair compromise is parking as many cars as you want in the drive way and that way you can expand the parking area and have 20 cars there if so desired LOL.
