@@JohnBuildsIt any concern with the air compressor in the cabinet not getting enough ventilation? Heat?
@JohnBuildsIt
@JohnBuildsIt 3 жыл бұрын
With basically all battery powered nailers/tools it really doesn’t see a ton of use in my shop to where it would be running a lot and building heat. I figure enough air can get in around the doors and that hole. If it was being used constantly I’d probably add a small vent there in that side panel👍🏽

I really like your videos. I like how low key and humble you are. You don’t assume everyone can afford a big shop and gives them options to try and relate to everyone. I will be building my shop in my new house I just moved into using these cabinets. I’ll prob extend and make one of those cabinets into a CNC table for my Shapeoko XXL. Keep up the great work my friend! Can’t wait for the next video.

Very nice how everything is built to a standard so it’s almost modular. I’m jealous of your organization and the level of finish. I DO have a fence the whole way out on my miter station, and really its main function is to keep all the stuff that piles up clear of where the active workpiece goes!

I made a modified version of this build. I have installed the t track and routed the dado next to it for the magnetic tape and ruler then it will be completed. I just need to apply some poly first. John’s method of leveling the saw between the two counter tips is the best way to do it.

Nice looking station. One thing I learned in my previous shop is that while Shaker style cabinets are pretty, in the shop all those little ledges hold on to dust. As a result, in my current shop I made my doors and drawers flat faced. They are definitely staying cleaner than they were in my last shop.

John, you can wrap the inside of your air compressor cabinet with foam board to sound proof it even more. You could even add wall cabinets above the bench for twice as much storage, I like the clamp rack. Nice shop BTW

How do you not have more subscribers!? I really want a miter station. I went with the miter cart first. Small shop, so I thought mobility was better. After several years, I haven't moved the individual cabinets on wheels anywhere except away from the wall so I could use them. (Slide out trays will work for me) With the miter cart, I have to move the bench and table saw to put the wings up. Sooo....I really need need to do a shop makeover and when I do, I am using your ideas. Well thought out and smart design! Stay safe, stay healthy and keep making videos. Thanks

Great video. My only question/suggestion is to put your excess tools on your waste side so that as you cut your keeper pieces you can stack them on the same side. This keeps you from having to cut a keeper piece on the left side of the saw and then carry it over to right side.
@JohnBuildsIt
@JohnBuildsIt 2 жыл бұрын
You know, that’s a very good point haha. In all actuality though depending on the size of the project, pieces end up on both sides sometimes

I absolutely love this setup, and will definitely be taking some ideas from it for my own shop. Thank you for posting the plans! After stumbling across the original build video I went looking at new miter saws, and it looks like Ridgid is now getting their own version of the Cruzer saws too; same arm design/motor placement/etc. but according to the specs has a slightly wider range for miter and bevel (only a couple degrees, but still notable). Same price point and warranty as well. Might be a great alternative if the Delta gets hard to find, or if you're like me and have a lot invested in other Ridgid stuff and want a matching orange saw.
@JohnBuildsIt
@JohnBuildsIt 3 жыл бұрын
I saw that! From my understanding that saw is still made by delta, just rebranded for Ridgid. There’s a few other tools like that too, like yesterday I saw the newest bench top planer is the exact same as the delta, just orange

Ignore the whiny viewers. Honestly I wouldn’t change a damn thing about your mitre station! I’ve watched more mitre station builds than most just because I’m fascinated with organizing, build quality & technique, etc. and always look forward to improvements ppl make as the years have gone by… yours doesn’t need extra measuring tape surface on either side of your saw, it’s one of the best and most efficient stations I’ve seen with the added benefit of using less ply just as you mentioned. I love it, I love the french cleat idea of yours instead of drilling each clear directly to the wall, yours is set up on a sheet or two of ply and then installed which is a hell of a lot smarter considering the amount of holes in our drywall otherwise. You’re on you way up, I hope you never change the way you film and I hope you keep sharing your projects whether you have plans or not 👍🏼

Hi John, looks great. Working on my own with the same Delta Cruzer. How wide is your saw shelf? I’ve got mine at 29”, but have to pull the saw forward almost to the front in order to do mitered cuts. Looks like yours is a little wider, which lets you push the saw further back and still be able to make those miter cuts. Thanks!

I have s simple miter saw station built for my HUGE 12" Ridgid sliding miter saw. I recently upgraded to the new ridgid which is identical to your delta cruzer so now I'm going to build a new station that doesn't stick out near as far as my current one. My current station has a fence i built along the top on both sides of the saw that is flush with the fence on the saw. when i first saw your video i said ill build your design then just add a fence on both table top and have my stop block on the fence but my question is is it necessary to have a fence built across the whole table saw? i guess as long as the board is square to the saw fence thats all that matters. Whats your thoughts on this? TIA again great work!!!
