I agree. If flying cars were to become a real thing they would need to be fully automated and most importantly they would need to communicate with every other flying car. Not being able to manually control the flying car except for something like an emergency parachute is the only way it could be possible. Fully self driving cars also will have the ability to communicate to almost every other car on the road at some point in the future too. Its the safest way. I want a Rosie but id settle for a Roomba but that doesnt constantly clog and one that has a big waste compartment.

Imagine someone trying to break the window of someone else's car lol The design of flying cars would probably have a seamless digital display on the inside and an outer shell with a screen that would make thick metal look transparent. Flying cars would have to be incredibly durable, otherwise bad things might happen when in bad weather or if hail happens. One of my family members made extremely awesome diy bulletproof glass, and caught a person desperately trying to break in with a brick... It didn't work lol

Flying cars are a terrible idea. People can’t driving a normal car right; the energy required to fly is much higher than what’s required to roll on tires; as Neil deGrasse Tyson points out, we already travel in the third dimension when we drive over an overpass; and the thrust required to keep a car up would be hazardous to everything under it which is why helicopters and rockets have dedicated landing spaces. Now where are self driving cars so all the terrible drivers aren’t a problem?

Yeah my dad pointed out when I was young that jet packs will never be a realistic mass thing because we simply don't have a wide enough field of vision. We'd be crashing into each other at sidelong angles all the time, it already happens with certain intersections in some areas that have super disproportionate accident rates due to particular angles keeping people from seeing each other even though there's nothing in the way. There's a reason insects have eyes that are way big/expose a lot more surface area of a sphere as a light-receiving surface. Hell we don't even have full 180 degree vision we just sorta think we do lol

A shrink ray would be absolutely amazing for storage - especially when dealing with large, hard to store objects. I mean, think about it - never run out of closet space because all your stuff is tiny and easy to put away now! That would be amazing! Traveling would be a lot easier too -- you only have to have your stuff regular-sized for the security check and then like shrink it and store it in your pocket or purse or whatever and unshrink it when you get to the hotel or home or whatever. that would be amazing. I would also take a device that would make my closets and such bigger on the inside too. That would also be awesome.

Whst we really need for video entertainment, and we're _really_ close to right now - is proper blockbuster movies for VR viewing. Pricing is coming down fast as prime quality VR units geared towards these kinds of more passive entertainment are fast approaching (these units are far less complex and don't need external components, as the motion system is much simplified). Google, Sony, Microsoft, Facebook and and plenty others are all racing to market right now.

Simon looks eerily similar to my soft-spoken, calm and reasonable linguistics professor. The desparity between what I usually associate with those looks and the glorious chaos that is Business Blaze makes me feel like I'm tripping balls. So thank you, Simon, for saving me loads of money on drugs.

I still kinda remember a dream I had about 12-13 years ago. My school was taken over my a team of ninjas. I was knocked out and kidnapped by the leader of the group. I woke up (in the dream) in the back seat of a car, driven by Doctor Evil from Austin Powers. He turned around and shot me in the gut. I then actually woke up.

It's perhaps worth mentioning that Michael Crichton didn't actually finish writing that book that you're reading. He toyed with the idea, wrote some stuff, shelved it for awhile probably because he hadn't quite cracked it, then he died and someone else was hired to take what he had written and attempt to finish it so that the book's publisher could milk a few more dollars out of the Crichton brand.

Simon describing building a big space station to escape nuclear destruction is literally the plot of the show “The 100”. It’s a good show although the space station isn’t actually the setting for the majority of the show. It’s just the starting point.

Simon laughs at the concept of an artist remembering everything they see and recreating it, Danny off writing a script about Stephen Wiltshire "who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, memorised the appearance and position of hundreds of buildings in exact scale during a ride along the Thames. Over the next five days, the 33-year-old drew the seven-square mile panorama, including landmarks such as the Swiss Re tower, and Canary Wharf, on a 13ft curving canvas."

We went to a really fancy restaurant in Shanghai that offered a sampler platter of honeybees, tree grubs, and crickets as an appetizer. The crickets were remarkably 'popcorn-like' and the bees had a kind of sweet 'burst' beneath the crispy outer layer. The grubs were fine but overall not exciting. I don't know that I'd eat them on a daily basis, but I suspect that the Chinese did it out of necessity, and they did manage to make it quite palatable, all things considered...
