The best part of the game is the intro when the box opens and all of NYC goes to hell. Despite it's limitations, it still delivered on that WOW factor... for about 10 minutes. Budget really begins to show the more the game goes on. Everything from most of England's civilian population driving recycled American Ford Crown Victoria's from the NYC levels to the haphazardly textured neckstumps of decapitated enemies. Feels like an ambitious yet amateur Unreal Tournament mod instead of an AA title at many points. Can't deny it has a lot of charm though, and the music, while limited and repetitive, still strikes a particular riffy cord in me. It's also roughly 2 dollars on steam at any given time so...

That thing about the werewolves is fairly legit. In most Eastern European Lore Werecreatures have a healing factor that would put Wolverine from the X-Men to shame. They can't be killed, nor suffer any wound they can't fully heal from (usually within seconds) unless the wound is inflicted with a blessed metal (such as pure silver). Depending on the myth, decapatation with a silver edged blade is the only sure fire method to kill an Alpha. So really unless that fire axe Deckard took from the museum was forged with some silver in the ax head or got keened with a partially silver whetstone, it shouldn't be enough to finish a werewolf. Myths are weird, amirite?

@@greenhowie With the understanding that we're defending the lore of LEGENDARY here (=P), I agree. The thing done to Deckard's Palm made him a "failsafe" measure for the box: either by being a means of restoring the prison or empowering those afflicted against what it contained. Its very possible that not only did it give him power to manipulate Animus Energy, but the power to subdue any mythical creature regardless of their normal weaknesses. If that ability is AoE in nature it even explains the soldiers' succesx: they only started managing to kill mythicals with conventional weapons once Deckard drew close to them. Sigh...REALLY wish this game had been better in terms of mechanics...such an interesting premise...

I totally get why Matt would hate this game. He's a very seasoned gamer and a former beta tester (a professional one) to boot. This game is a goddamn mess in all technical respects d would drive any beta tester mad. Yet...its a wicked guilty pleasure for me, just for the premise alone. Matt can shit on it all he wants, the idea of "Pandora's Box" being a litteral prison for every monster and nightmare in human history and mythos rather than a moral about curiosity/origin story for hope and evil was neat to me. And at the very least you have to give the devs credit that the destruction of New York was pretty damn impressive given their non budget. His criticisms were legit, but I still felt he gave this game just a little too much grief. P.S. Anybody else who played this seriously have THAT much trouble in the warehouse? Minus the shenanigans with the green light it wasn't THAT bad, was it? (I managed it on my second attempt). P.P.S. FUCK that "elevator endgame" glitch though. PCers got hosed on that bullshit.
