The misleading marketing is so upsetting! When I first got into skincare I had absolutely no idea about ingredients and went blindly after the recommendation of the sales people in my local kbeauty shop. After a month I noticed how my skin became red, inflamed and dry and went back for more skincare because now I needed something new..and I continued this cycle until I finally found your channel and became knowledgeable enough about how and what works and how the sale reps just destroyed my barrier with their products. Still healing from it but now I know how, thanks to you!

The Benton Green Tea toner was a recent discovery for me, and it's become one of my favorites! I have oily skin though. I love how lightweight it is, very refreshing. I honestly thought it was kind of meh the first time I tried it but since then it's become a daily staple for me, it's just a very soothing, reliable product, and my skin seems to love it!

I love the Benton green tea toner! I haven't tried the old one but the new one COMPLETELY cleared up my skin and gives a healthy glow! I swear by it for spots. I agree though, it's not hydrating enough for me & once I've used up my current bottle I'll need to use something else for Autumn. I have to use it with hydrating essences/serums xx

I also bought this when my barrier was compromised, it made it so much worse. I used it without checking the full ingredients (which I normally NEVER do) but it said "barrier serum" so I trusted that. I definitely learned my lesson! After that experience, I don't put anything on my face without reading the ingredients and researching them if I'm not familiar with them.

I tried the Benton toner out and it did absolutely nothing to my skin, it didn't exactly ruin it, I just couldn't see it doing anything to my skin. I ended up using it up for my neck. It indeed feels thin, like putting water on your face. Yeah never repurchasing it again. Compared to the Anua heartleaf toner, which is also very thin, the Anua toner feels just way more hydrating and nourishing.

For me my nope is Mixsoon’s Bean Essence. I really found the texture to feel greasy and sitting up on the surface not being absorbed into my skin and an unwanted shine to the finish of my skincare. I used it a few times and then it’s just sitting there in my collection. I have not tried using it as a gommage pilling gel yet it might be a good way of using it up.

Hi Kelly I have so many nope products that other people LOVE😂. I’m both rosacea and eczema prone so my skin is extremely reactive and lipid gold was terrible on me😢. I always patch test thankfully but I had a rash from it. Dr Ceuracle kombucha essence same deal and the RNW serum everyone raves about is another big nope for me (all were given to family or friends). Beauty of Josean spf my skin hated it and the same with canmake - I used them up on my hands as I couldn’t use them face, neck or chest. The torriden essence my skin hated but I can use it on my arms etc. Pyunkang Yul moisture cream is another no as is their original toner. My skin is more reactive than the vast majority of people however and these are all products with a really good INCI list that will work for most people. Lots of mehs along the line too, but it’s extremely disappointing when products everyone else adores are such epic fails😂. Best wishes x

I enjoyed the Cocokind serum when it was about $13. The price has increased to the point I can purchase a better serum for the same price now.

I was surprised it was $22 when I bought it, definitely seemed overpriced since they have a drugstore vibe. Makes sense it was a lot less expensive before!
@kaid20252 ай бұрын
I completely agree. It was nice when I first started buying it, and as someone who doesn't really exfoliate, it was a good way to get a little extra exfoliation in. But at the current price, I've realized that it's better to either separate those steps so that they are both working better or other serums that do the same thing but better for me in a similar price point.

what are you using now in place of the cocokind serum?

Oh my, I was so excited about the Cocokind serum and I fear it's the one that triggered my redness since early June! I started using it at the end of May and for the entire month of June I had redness every time after cleansing..which never happened before. I paused this serum early July though the redness is still there. I can't blame it entirely, but it might've done more damage than good!

Mystery solved! I thought it was me when I didn’t quite vibe with the Benton green tea toner this summer. I had so much faith in the product that I ignored the dehydrating signals - as soon as I switched to my tried-and-true makeprem toner, my skin went back to normal. Could be my aging skin too, who knows! Anyhoo, won’t be repurchasing starting next summer.

I have have used a lot of the other products of the haru haru black rice line like the cleanser, toner, cream and both sunscreens, and liked them all. Although I am one of those people who doesn't believe in eye cream, so have not tried that. I don't like Diane, its actually a very cheap crappy brand in Japan the equivalent of pantene or something here. I lived in Japan and listen to Japanese hair youtubers as well, and for Japanese shampoos, I recommend LUFT, Sleek, MELT, botanist, Theratist, Honeyque, Plus eau etc.. They are all sulphate free and more conditioning, made for daily use so not super strong but great for dry/damaged hair. i have bleach hair and i liked LUFT the best, esp. the hugh damage repair purple line

I had your cocokind experience with Skin1004 Toning toner and in particular with Roundlab Pine toner. In Skin1004 case it was mostly my fault, PHA is clearly indicated in the advertising material and the toner is marketed as toning, which I learned is a code for exoliation. Roundlab Pine Line is marketed as their sensitive skin soothing line for all skin types, yet most of the products contains LHA and the toner include BOTH LHA and PHA. I understand they are both less irritating than proper AHA and BHA, but less irritating is different from non-irritating and in a sensitive skin line it is not what I would expect. If you add that marketing material highlighted how soothing and refreshing it is, I felt quite betrayed. Switched to the birch juice line and never looked back, but I will scrutinize the mugwort line to see if it's worth the risk😅
@KellyDriscoll2 ай бұрын
Ahhh it's so confusing! And definitely, they are gentler but it's still chemical exfoliation and that still can wreak havoc!

Honestly, their mugwort line isn’t really for sensitive skin either. I’ve bought their ‘soothing’ mugwort serum, but it contains sage oil. Got my skin all itchy en sensitized. I have now ordered their pantenol&soy line (serum and cream), so hoping that one will work better

My most recent instant nope was a new skinfood cleansing oil that I got a trial size of. I just pulled up YS so I can be specific, it's the Najubae Deep Cleansing oil, and it was... fine! It was just fine until I went to emulsify it. It almost gummed up on my face and in my hands when I went to emulsify it, which has never happened before and made me so grossed out. It even slowed my sink drain for a few minutes even with the hot tap running. My face felt super oily after, too. It was terrible lol. Ironically the cleansing oil I'm using instead is the Isntree jelly to oil one. Jelly to oil I can accept, oil to jelly? Too far!
