Before a comments pop up about the driveline noise... Yes, there is driveline noise. During a bash session, the pinion moved and gouged the edge of the teeth on the spur. It was not bad enough to replace the spur, but that’s whats causing the noise. So I removed the rest of the audio in the action and replaced it with music because the noise was annoying. And now you know. 😊

One thing I do recommend is upgrading to stainless steel screws. Will really help with rusting bolts, plus it will look nicer.

I got the light kit at the local hobby shop (JPH in Rhonert Park, CA) and it's great! We even did some speed runs in the dark on the street in front of the house the other night with it - the white/red lights were the only thing we could see, that was pretty fun!

Interesting...... I've owned many a Traxxas vehicle's in the past and that driveline noise was the first thing that tickled my brain in the old days... I still like Traxxas products but these days I'm moving onto Arrma products as I have several of them. Not to mention I have lots of Traxxas plastic all over in tubs that I will soon toss out. I think the only Traxxas I have is the two wheel drive Slash when it first came out. I ran it once or twice and then 'life' got in the way..... lol Great video and glad to see you're back on the BMX track! ( old school BMX'r myself )..........

Same.I had enough of traxxas making me broke. My first rc was the rustler lets just say i almost smashed the remote. I got a 4s kraton first ever jump my first backflips. My first ever jump on rustler it self destruct landing on the nose. I jump my rcs on that same jump for now years and i almost never break anything. I currently own a mojave exb, kraton exb And kraton 4s. 4s might be gone soon i dont know but makes me sad to sell my first true First rc

IMO the traxxas telemetry expander isn’t worth it, but they do sell an adapter that allows you to mount the module to the brace. I’ve used it to mount receivers as I find the temps are much lower if you mount the esc on top of the Rx box instead. Gives the motor and esc more breathing room, and allows you to install the 540xl.

i watched this video already, almost bought the light kit at my LHS, but i confused the telemetry with the chassis brace. i thought the light kit box went where the telemetry went, so now i am ordering it from traxxas. love the lights

older video now, I held off on the chassis brace because I wasn't going to take off $200 GPS and all the telemetry. 6562 telemetry holder, it goes on the brace. Puts GPS by motor. $8.00 fix. I have an LED light set and fr/rr MIP XD axles to try in mine beside me.I run the wide aluminum hubs with raid wheels and badland mx28s on mine. It is an axle-breaking machine on 3S with that much tire. Probably doesn't help with rear diff JB weld 550 million weight in it. I hope $150/ worth of axles hold up. The H/R lasted almost half the 1st 3S batter before I broke the hub off the end. I have about everything you could put on one. It looks like the brace will clear front sway bars ok. And another worry, I have GPM front upper control arms. They bolt to 2nd set of holes in the chassis. Looks like it should go around those and the cross brace fine also.

7:24. I bought a small pick set that has picks at different angles to dig out my screws. Suprisingly enough, I don't need to use them nearly as often as I would think. That's probably because I have them, if I didn't have them, I'd probably need them a lot more. That's how things go, right? Lol.

I just subscribed. My 13-year-old son has a Rustler VXL. He's had it for about a year and has only been able to drive it for maybe 25 to 35 total days. He breaks a lot of stuff. We're trying to upgrade anything and everything we can to aluminum or "nonbreakable" stuff. Can you do a build on a Rustler VXL? I do plan on putting all the telemetry things on it. I saw a heatsink for a motor that I thought about getting but I'd definitely have to modify it. I was wondering if some of the stuff like the shock tower, roof skid plate or LED light kit for the Rustler 4X4 VXL would be able to be put on the Rustler VXL. I would love to see a video of anything and everything that you could put on a Rustler VXL. Thank you for your upgrade videos.

I saw that Mark Santa Maria, had some 3D printed hex shaped parts trays and some had lids, just need to find the download to see where to get them for my mat, several different colours they fit into the hex dips nicely.

Like the look of those LED's 👍 I swear that truck snaps axles so easy. I had one when they first came out. Axles snapped, shocks bent, ESC was glitchy. I just saw a money pit so I sold it. Too bad since it looks cool and drives really well!

I plugged the jst into the receiver and that eliminated the auto on. Now only comes on when I power it on!👍🏽💯

Just a heads up, the instructions specifically state not to do that. It can damage the electronics.

It’s such a great RC truck. I just tend to upgrade parts as and when they break. Once I’d upgraded the shocks I haven’t had anything else break. That’s giving it some serious abuse at the skate park too. Got a dust cover fitted which keeps the electrics cleanish.

@@MrMetz2112 I upgraded to the Traxxas big bore shocks. With the stock ones the caps kept popping off the top when I crashed. Not had that happen with the big bore shocks.

Hey I’m 14 and just got a Traxxas 2wd rustler for Christmas. This is my first rc car and I’m planning on getting in to this hobby. Is there anything I should know about this specific car and things I definitely should buy Or replace or something along those lines just so I make the most out of my car. Also should I swap the the titan 12T out for a brushless Traxxas motor?

After starting off with a 2wd Stampede and upgrading almost everything over the past 5 years, I think there are two absolutely necessary upgrades I recommend for a Traxxas 2wd. You can replace these parts when they break of course or if you want beforehand. -Aluminum shock caps and titanium nitride coated shock shafts (you will have to rebuild the shocks, if you don't mind spending an extra $20 you can get the big bore shocks which comes with these upgrades) -RPM A-arms The other parts I would probably just upgrade as they break

@@Trollnose well it should've come with a NIMH battery since you got the brushed version I think. You should probably get the hang of it with that setup for a little while and then when you are ready for more power get a brushless system and a 2s lipo.

Almost none. I would have said the tekno dog bone conversion for the slash because those are bulletproof vs any other kind of driveshaft that will empty your wallet. But idk if the slash and rustler share the same arm lenght. The gpm axles fail, the stock ones fail when just running on the ground(i had a rustler so i know), the high velocity one just like you saw are rubbish, Maybe the new ones they made would be more durable but the money you pay. Also dont get the shitty china made axles from ebay for the 3s traxxas line they will snap first jump

Any tips on how to keep it cool or is it suppose to run that way? I mean it's not so hot that it burns my fingers or plastic gears on my Rustler. i destroyed 2 new-ish Revo 2.0 batteries over the winter. i left them in the car, knew they were at a storage voltage since i have a voltage alarm set on them, but i never unplugged them. so they slowly drained over the winter months. thats 130 dollars down the tube. so to punish myself, i bought 2 new batteries, an Xmaxx with 2 batteries, an Arrma Typhon 3S and a rustler 4X4 lol. that'll show me

Sledgehammers are axle killers!! Might be better with the Tekno axles. Just no RPM parts, they are not compatible. The plastic is too flexible and causes binding and breakage.

Did i just witness 120$ driveshafts just snap like sticks? Not one but two. Well you get what you paid for! But reverse. Man here in canada those driveshafts for a set of 4 is almost 200$. Chassi brace i wonder where they had the idea from... ah yes the company they sued for a suspension they dont have the right for on the arrma Nero. Almost took arrma down. Lucky horizonhobby are not as dirty like traxxas when it comes to legal charges. This is what traxxas stands for. blocking rc enginering Because of bs pattents. Nobody can use the F1 suspension anymore or they might be gone of the hobby. Would have been cool to have variety. They have pattents on freaking radio box seals? Are you fking kidding me? Traxxas does just this release recycled part rc with one or two new stuff Slap a big price tag on it an people buy them. Then they just focus on light kits and different rc color bodies for their lines and publicity. The rest is for legal shit thats how traxxas makes their money. Til people accept this bs they wont stop and will just limit new rc innovations. When was the true last new rc Traxxas made? The udr and xmaxx who are like 5-6 years old now? After that just recycled parts. Dont tell me the maxx is new it is technicly yes but its just a shrunk down xmaxx like cmon.
