Here is a myth you can test for the next installment; Red and purple pikmin harvest berries faster than white and pink because of their increased attack. Note, this includes getting the berry back to the ship, so if the ship is across the map the increased movement speed/shortcuts of white and winged will likely make winged or white the faster option again despite the longer plucking time.

As well as Pikmin following your whistle when you're on Oatchi, I've experienced them moving significantly faster towards shore if you whistle, regardless of being on Oatchi or not. They may not follow my whistle, but they do hear it and move faster.

To explain the spicy spray thing; It actually works very similarly in Pikmin 2! Most pikmin have a base damage of 10, except reds and purples, who have 15 (purples are 20 in P2), and whites/pinks/ices who have 5 When spicy spray is activated, damage calculation is changed. In the context of Pikmin 4, all pikmin types have their damage set to a base of 10 (meaning red/purples are nerfed and whites/pinks/ices are buffed), and animation speed is increased by 20%, meaning for instance, a yellow will still be doing 10 damage per hit, but it'll attack much faster. This animation speed increase applies to everything, which is why pikmin will, for instance, drown faster with spicy spray

In Pikmin 2, the pikmin will die if the breadbug drags them into its hole, but there's no indication that it eats the pikmin. Maybe the hole is lethal to Pikmin? :0

Rock pikmin are severely nerfed by spicy spray, not their impact damage (thrown by captain) but their self attack damage seems to be about 4-5 times weaker, this can be easily seen when Oatchi-rushing an enemy, for bulborbs 50 rocks is an instakill, 50 spicy rocks only does about 2/3 or 3/4 health.
