Nice tool. Thanks for showing me how to change the blades! Just used mine to trim some base molding because my new refrigerator is .25” wider than my last, and I hadn’t been able to properly install it until I used this tool.

Looks much better than gen1. I like the locking trigger cause the old on had issues with dust gumming the slide switch. The speed dial on top is nice vs it being on bottom and accidentally bumping. Good stuff.

I am fully vested in Ryobi tools, but I returned gen 1 after 10 minutes of testing. Nice to see they stepped up the power in gen 2.

Bought mine after gen 2 sold out, I prefer gen 1 because it doesn't use a trigger, I like the on switch better.

My Gen 1 has a multiposition head which is handy when you need to get the battery out of the way. I love the locking mechanism on the Gen 2. The Milwaukee multi-material blade is my goto. I use it all the time.

3:19 Because there are different batteries with different weights, and it's a lot easier to add the tool weight and the battery weight than it is adding the tool weight, guessing what battery you weighed it with and subtracting that, and then adding the right battery's weight.

I love the trigger on my dewalt but it vibrates so much. My last gen ryobi was smooth. No vibration at all but I still almost always grabbed my dewalt for thr trigger and blade change. I'll have to get this one now

i wonder how many extra returns are caused by 0 speed.

Their jigsaws are the same. Which is kind of pointless because they have a trigger switch rather than a slide switch

Got a like new one for $50 (not a scratch on it, original blades unused). Haven't used one of these before but we've been doing some renovations/remodeling so I think it'll soon come in handy.

How does it directly compare to its predecessor? From what I see there's a big improvement to the attachment mechanism, but otherwise it's just some extra dampening and re-adding the trigger. One of my favorite features of the first gen was the trigger less design

this is good sign as it indicates possible gen 2 or 3 updates for other tools

How's the vibration on this gen 2 compared to the old model. No matter how fast a multi tool can cut vibration matters

I'm pretty sure you can change blades just as fast using the Allen wrench.That's included with the older style

@TheMeanArena Yup! Checked just this morning and saw it finally on their site, just says out of stock. Hoping they either get more in or maybe have some and it just says they don't even though they do.

Why do you use Milwaukee blades. Are you indicating that the Ryobi blades that come with the tool are not going to cut all the material shown in the box? I used the tool to cut vinyl and the blade didn’t work that great.
@wty1313
@wty1313 Ай бұрын
The stock blades that come with it are meant for soft material like wood. That Milwaukee blade he swapped out is bimetal or maybe even their carbide version, both of which can cut metal or wood with embedded nails. I believe Ryobi makes bimetal blades, but you have to buy them separately, and I don't think they make carbide blades for oscillating tools.

Listen everyone. One thing ryobi is seriously over due is a new impulse driver like the Milwaukee m18. Everyone is so onto everything being so quiet but no impulse driver. Impulse drives are super helpful in not stripping the head of a Phillips head
@nickp3270
@nickp3270 Жыл бұрын
yep the old one is nice id like to see a hp impulse driver and a new ridgid stealthforce i missed the first one i need a gen 2 lol
@weldonpinder7295
@weldonpinder7295 Жыл бұрын
@nickp3270 the old one is way to big and bulky. If ryobi would've had a hp one then I would've gotten into the Milwaukee platform because the m12 impulse is so compact to fit in my tool belt and performs like the m18
@engineer_alv

TBH no brand has released a new impulse drivers for over 3 years. The only one I can think of is Masterforce but not everyone has a Menards around nor is interested in that brand
@superduperboyx

I think 1 con to this tool is you're able to remove the rod/pin when replacing attachments. You can easily drop it and lose it. Other branded tools you just slip in the attachment blade and press down to lock it in... No lose piece!

Buddy, if you lose this tool while you’re working you’re a dumbass with not an ounce of self awareness and common sense. Why would you lose the one thing that holds your blade in???? I’m in construction and this tool is phenomenal. Cuts just as good if not better than the top model from Milwaukee.

Oh Ryobi, gets rid of 4 mode selection on the impact driver (where it was useful for small screws) and adds a goofy one to the oscillating tool (yah I wanted to cut slower?). No one is ever going to use this on any setting but 6. What is the point?
@nickp3270

slower speeds are better for thinner or softer materials

Right because no OMT has speed selection other than some Dewalt models? I use slower speeds for finishing sanding and when cutting through plastics

@alexander-yd3hz got a bunch of rentals about 1900 miles away. I picked up that $300 set with the multi tool and circ saw, screw gun, impact, light, batteries, and a recip saw. Great deal. Out here, early on my old rigid jigsaw broke so I picked up ryobi jigsaw. 4 days later, it broke. The replacement burnt up about a week and a half later. I also bout an 18 guage Ryobi nail gun for $180. 9 days later, not even a half a box later it broke. It's replacement broke shortly after. I replaced both tools with Kobalt. The feel alone is quality vs cheap. For $10 more and a better tool and warranty, if possible, look into kobalt. Now granted, this is gen 2, and mine were all gen 1, but I have list all faith in Ryobi. My multi tool is overheating and will soon break. I will have to go to home depot, pay $35 have them send it to Ryobi who would give me a new tool in about 2 weeks and a $35 refund. With Kobalt, I go to Lowes, and simply warranty the tool out and get a new one in a box. Huge difference. The circ saw has been great, so fR but as any ryobi breaks, I'm gonna be buying a new Kobalt. Lesson learned. This is my experience so far. Best

Seams like you have bad luck with tools I have had Ryobi, Ridgid and Dewalt. I use the ryobi tools you mentioned almost daily. Only two tools I have had problems with. The Ryobi and dewalt 18/20 volt orbital sanders. Corded from now on for orbital sanders and prefer the ridgid for it.... at least for the 5"
