In the story of Samson, we are told how he has his hands chained to two central pillars, and he brings down the roof which results in many Philistine deaths. We have in the past couple decades uncovered the Philistine temples, which have been buried for at least 2500 years. They all have two central pillars that held up the roof/gallery above. Does it prove Samson, no. But, whomever is telling the story had to be intimately familiar with Philistine architecture from 1000's of years ago to have put in that detail.

See also: 1) David's palace - Bible says Phoenician architects and craftsman built it. When they unearthed it less that 20 years ago, guess what they found? Phoenician cap stones on the pillars. 2) Seal of Nathan-Melek, found in the scribes quarters area next to David's palace. He is mentioned specifically in the Bible as working there.

See also: They have uncovered underneath rubble from the time when the Babylonians sacked Jerusalem one of the oldest toilets in the world next to David's palace in the scribes/royal area of the complex. When they analyzed the fecal matter of the last users of said royal toilet (toilets were extremely rare 1000s of years ago and something royalty only would have), they discovered their diet was of grass and they had intestinal worms due to uncooked meat. This matched the historical and Biblical story of the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians. They had laid siege to the city so long, even the royalty were starving, and by then no longer had kindling to even cook the meat.

You've been on fire with these latest videos. A lot of Joe's responses remind me of a powerful question we as evangelists can ask a non believer: "If there was 100% factual evidence, non debatable, etc, for Christ and the Word of God being true, would you choose to follow Him?"
@Chriliman15 күн бұрын
The issue is you don’t need all that proof to recognize the value of treating others well and even be willing to die for others, many philosophers and thinkers across history recognized this way before Jesus’ time. I am glad Jesus was able to subvert the Jewish militant messiah rebellion and eventually bring some peace between the Romans and Jews back then as Greco-Roman Jews like Paul merged their ideologies with Greek Hellenism.
@Smurfalurf2315 күн бұрын
As a non-believer, I'm struggling to grasp how this is a powerful question. If there were 100% factual evidence that Jesus was the son of God and everything else that goes along with that, then of course I would follow him. Because at that point, it's not a belief or an opinion, it's just the truth. The problem is, there's almost no evidence that he was the son of God, and what little there is can be easily written off. Even if all of the evidence that is there right now were all true, it wouldn't come remotely close to 100% proof. Are you trying to say that if non-believers understood faith, they would become believers? Faith is the main reason I am a non-believer. Why should I believe in something that has hardly any evidence to support it?

I do tours of the British Museum in London, England every Friday at about 5 pm till 8 pm. There are so many artifacts in the British Museum that tie in with the Bible that it takes me about 2 hours talking about it. We have names of a number of kings of Israel e.g. Omri, Ahab, Jehu, Hezekiah. We have Assyrian kings like Shalmamesar V, Tiglath Pileser III (called Pul & Tiglath Pileser in the Bible), Sargon II, Sennacherib, Ashurbanipal (Oznap in the Bible). We have a stone frieze showing the very moment that Tiglath Pileser took away 3 of the lost tribes of Israel into captivity to Assyria. It shows the town of Ashteroth, 21 east of Lake Galilee being taken into exile. The men have bags on their backs and they are wearing the exact same clothes as another Assyrian obelisk dated to 841 BC that talks about King Jehu of the house of Omri (who are both from the 10 northern tribes of Israel). The same exile is mentioned in the Bible dated to 732 BC. We have Babylonian kings like Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzer from the Book of Daniel (people did not believe that he existed until they recently found a clay tablet with his name on it), Marduk-apla-iddina II (called belodan-berodack(or something like that name) in the Bible). We have the Persian king whom Nehemiah was cup bearer to. We even have one of the cups that has the name of that king of Persia that Nehemiah served inscribed into the cup. Nehemiah probably used that very cup to serve his king. We have names of the Egyptian kings like Tarharqa who helped Hezekiah. We have the lintol from the tomb of Shebna who was on the wall of Jerusalem when Sennacherib invaded Judah. I am sure that I have missed out some things but I think that you have got the idea.

The fact that the Bible hasn’t changed is wild over many thousands of years and translates into all languages. 40 different authors on four different continents over hundreds of years many never meeting or knowing of the others writing one continuous book with over 25,000 cross references between each other. How does a Book tell the end from the beginning from outside time if it’s not from God?
@saboabbas12314 күн бұрын
It has changed over the years. Bibles differ in many different ways. The Catholic bible is different from the Protestant bible. The bible differs over the years from one version to another; one translation to another. In fact, the "bible" as we know it in the 21st century didn't exist until around 350 AD or thereafter. And, there are no original copies. No one knows who wrote most of it. The Apostle Paul was not an eye-witness. Some of the books of the NT are forgeries. The names attributed to the Protestant bible gospels were added later. Originally, they circulated with no names attached to them. There are different versions of Christianity and different bibles all over the world.

Christians began as a persecuted off shoot of Judaism, the version of Judaism that now believes the Messiah, the Christ, has come. They weren't rich, they didnt have a lot of facilities, so when they get materials two write and copy texts, they want to be effective. And how can you be more effective in the use of your materials than writing on both sides? That's a simple explanation, and often the most simple explanation is thw correct one.

@@spotable2The Bible DOES NOT teach a heliocentric universe that was created by a Big Bang of nothing exploding and becoming everything over billions of years. The Bible DOES NOT teach the earth is a spinning sphere that is flying around the sun and in a galaxy that is flying through an ever-expanding void of space. The Bible is clear that the earth is still and at rest (Zech.1:11) immovable and fixed (Psalms 93:1 and 1 Chronicles 16:30). The shape of earth is described in multiple verses as being like clay pressed down and stamped by a signet/seal ring. The earth is also said by God to be like a tent and tents are not balls (Isaiah 40:22). Some say Isaiah 40:22 talks about God sitting on the circle of the earth that means the earth is a sphere." However, a circle is not the same as a ball. In fact, God through the Prophet Isaiah gave us two passages that reveal there are two different Hebrew words for "circle" and "ball." And the Hebrew word for "ball" was never used in the Bible to describe the shape of the earth (see Isaiah 40:22 and 22:18). The Hebrew word for "circle" is chûwg, pronounced khoog; a circle: -circle, circuit, compass. The Hebrew word for "ball" in Isaiah 22:18 is dûwr, pronounced dure; a circle, ball or pile: -ball, turn, round about." So it is obvious that both the Hebrew language and the Prophet Isaiah knew the DIFFERENCE between a BALL and a CIRCLE.

Why does Joe speak about the Bible with such confidence? It's obvious that he has done no serious study of it. No, Joe, the Bible was NOT an oral tradition for "hundreds if not thousands of years". Traditional stories got written down, though they may have been edited later.

Yeah man, it is scary. What's even more scary and proves your post is that Matthew's 7:23 isn't to the non believer, but to the "Christian" who knew God and honored Him with their lips, but their heart was far from Him.

I dont wanna shit on religion or anything, its not my goal. I respect religious people and their rights. I was raised somewhat catholic but never really was raised AS A catholic person. That being said. Most of the "proof" shown in this video or in the full Rogan Podcast seem to be unrelated to what really is at stake with the bible. For example. If I uncovered a story of something that happened 2 months ago. And the story goes along the lines of : today, november 12th, it was a rainy day in whatevertown, I saw someone jumping 200ft in the air Then you have "historians" looking at this saying : it was in fact a rainy day in whatevertown on november 12th, therefore someone really jumped 200ft in the air. Like.. personally, I do believe Jesus existed, and probably was a prominent man in these times. But I dont see anything to prove he was connected to an almighty god I mean, if I wanted to write something false I would write everything else around it to be true so it isnt declares false on those pretenses. If I use my earlier analogy, if the historians figured out that it was in fact a sunny day on november 12th, they would probably rule out the 200ft jump at the same time. But it still could've happened. Proving everything around the bush without proving the bush is in fact real doesnt do it for me at all. But its interesting tho 🤷🏻♂️

@@AmberMichealsCholeNicole-cj7sy first you need to be born again so that you can be guided by the Holy Spirit to find the correct church,most protestant churches have the correct foundations,at least for the most important issues,if you see a denomination or sect that denies the trinity,Jesus divinity as God incarnate and bodily resurrected,if they have idols or icons,if they rely on works to get into heaven instead of relying in faith on Jesus,if they dont consider the 66 books of the bible as the absolute truth and word of God,if they add human tradition to the bible, if they are Woke(a lot of methodists and anglicans in USA have becpme apostates unfortunately) then you must avoid those ,they are not Christ churches If they dont have those issues then you can choose between classic baptists,methodists,lutherans,evangelicals,pentecostals or non denominational BUT I would recommend a church that also doesn’t negate the gifts of the Holy Spirit and avoid calvinism at all costs if possible,that has roots in gnosticism but they dont understand it Personally I would stick with a non denominational church that MUST follow biblical principles,if they preach Christ and not only about blessings,avoid churches that focus on you,rather consider the ones that have Jesus as the center of it all

Why does one need to be right? Did Paul teach the same things as Peter? In particular the difference focuses on “circumcision:” do Christian need to be Jews? Peter seems to teach Yes, ignoring Acts 10:9 and following. In particular, meat was sold in the markets cheaper if offered to idols. Ok for Christians to buy and eat. Peter says no (Acts 15:28-29 (ESV) For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.”) Paul says ok, unless causing others problems (Romans 14:20 (ESV) Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats.) Different teachings, at the same time, to different audiences (Peter to Jews/ Paul to Gentiles or Greeks). Just as Baskin Robins has many different flavors of what each is ice cream, I think God offers different flavors of Christianity. Some are more preferred by some. I see this as a strength of Christianity: this diversity tends to focus attention to unity among Christians on essential elements and having grace toward diversity on other things. For example, of what is the Eucharist constructed? Is it bread, biscuit or even bread made similarity to the bread Jesus might have used in the first Last Supper? If we had just one Christian denomination, this might help minor issues or irrelevant issues be raised as a major issue (as some things were by the Jews - see Mark 7:8-13 (ESV) You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God)- then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.” This allowed a child to make a Corban gift of their money or property/ business (dedicated to the Temple or God, but only after they died) and avoid their obligation to provide support for their parents. The idea was it would be “stealing” from their gift to take any for any purpose other than the gifter’s use. We also have the strength of the United States: if one denomination drifts off the proper place, the others can help the drifting denomination see their error. A competition of ideas and practices, which can make all better. Also, if you have Calvinist, you need the other side: Armenian. The major divisions are Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant. Perhaps the “right” one is the one which speaks loudest to a particular person or helps them come to faith. Note that a particular church or denomination might be right for a person, for a season, then another can become “right.” I hope this helps with your concern.

How can we answer when you didn't even ask a question? ALL Bibles contain the SAME CORE of 66 books. Some traditions add in extra ancient writings, but these in NO WAY change the overarching message of the Bible. As for denominations - SO WHAT??? ALL Trinitarian Christians accept the SAME core dogmata. They differ only on doctrines, which are manmade and thus unimportant.

From everything I’ve researched …I believe the Bible is accurate and it is history …but it was either translated very terribly or it was done on purpose by someone evil. The only interpretation of God that I believe is real in the Bible is when he lives through his son Jesus. Any other encounter not through Jesus is not God, but powerful beings, that were most likely of extraterrestrial origin. They created us, therefore we are also alien to this earth. But just because they created us doesn’t mean there isn’t a God; if there is alien life, they are of God’s creation as well.

Archeology, paleontology, etc, have proved the texts existing, a great flood existing, certain battles and stories happening but that proves that several ancient religions and mythologies all were writing about the same things or things very similar. The fact that so many ancient stories share huge similarities speaks massive volumes. The texts can surely exist, that doesn't mean the events in them weren't exaggerated and some, even totally made up. The Jews always preached about a warrior messiah, like David and Moses, not God coming down in flesh. Titus defeated the Jews and destroyed the temple at the exact same time as the writings of the New Testament were being written, Considered the "Messiah of the Jews", a warrior who was considered God and man but also brought peace, his dad, the same, Vespasian also was a healer. Paul and Josephous are so connected, along woth Constantine and Paul and the Jews being written about in the NT were so far removed from Judiasm, they were historically called Jews tho but also, Christians, so the Jewish messiah was actually the Christian invented Messiah, not of the Jews actual beliefs, teachings and history. These "Jews", not being persecuted, were actually the new founded Christians, that were founded in Rome and its regions. The Old Testament, sectarian Jews, were being historically persecuted but these Christians, sometimes named, Jews, were not and actually were held in high regard in the Roman Empire and some even very close to these emperors.

Sometimes I wish “faith” was a choice. I come from a place where the church used to have power over my people’s destiny, they decided how we voted, how we thought etc…and that was after we got conquered by the British in Quebec. Im baptized grew up going to church, did my first communion and confirmation, read the bible for myself and that’s when I realized I would never have faith. I was 9 yrs old. I re-read the bible for fun as an unruly teenager sent to the classroom where the other class clowns and bad students were sent when they bothered the class too much. Re-reading the bible just made me even more of an atheist, and to be honest the fact the bible mentions real places and historical events don’t prove anything Godly, it proves people wrote about real places…The fact there is a King David only proves there was a king David. I don’t have an issue with historical Jesus, my brain is just not built to see God where he isn’t. And before Christians come at me, think about this : “ If God is real I was made by him this way”, so that means my point is just as valid as yours if we go with your logic.

The Bible not only records historical events but is a piece of history itself. The canon is many books by many authors in a wide array of contexts and points in history. By the mid 19th century, many or most of the European schools thought of it mostly as myth, something that utlimately radically changed with the Advent of modern archeology. Finds like Ninevah, Babylon, Ur, Jericho etc. (end of 19th beginning of 20th centuries) established (the majority of) the basic geographical contexts as reliable. Of course, each book has a history and various questions of its own.

It is more than just people. I remember objections to John 5:2 (ESV) Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. The objection was there is no pentagon or five structures common in the construction of the time. Archeologists then found the pool. There were four with a center, island, making five. So accuracy with no pentagon culture.

I like how all nations ethnicities and people can be traced to Shem Ham and Japeth... Noah's 3 sons... It has a family tree.
@TheMp44drophyd14 күн бұрын
The table of nations in Genesis 10 is only limited to the Mediterranean/Near Eastern world of the writer. It doesn't have anything about American Indians, East Asians, or Northern Europeans, for example. It claims to show that everybody comes from Noah's 3 sons but leaves ojt huge chunks of the world population, showing the writer's (understandable) ignorance.
@edwardwoods597714 күн бұрын
@TheMp44drophyd DNA science according to scientists say there was a catastrophic event that killed everyone on earth except for two people. That would be Noah his wife three sons and their wives. DNA also shows them the Indians and whoever you can imagine came from his three sons. It may help you to know one was white one was black one was red. Even Noah was described as extremely white with blazing blue eyes. I love DNA. it tells the truth and even discredits evolutionary theory. Which is suppose to be by simplistic means. But the DNA strand according to science is the greatest hard drive known to man and each cell is a computer that unzips the immense data file stored in the DNA. Either evolution is the creator or its all propganda and a lie. Paleontologists have been caught lying so many times it's kind of like the liberals. Nothing they say is the truth just keep the power and money flowing.
@edwardwoods597714 күн бұрын
@TheMp44drophyd also that family tree is from adam to Noah and from Noah to Jesus Christ. That's all that is needed and then there's DNA for the rest.

Also of note is the existence of Sargon II, and the Neo-Assyrian empire of the biblical account. Secular science took glee in attacking the veracity of the book of Isaiah for bith referencing Sargon (the only known ancient source to do so at the time), as it was assumed to be referencing Sargon of Akkad. The book of Isaiah references Sargon II, long before the neo-Assyrians were known to modern historical record.
