This Donny Cates Thor run is insane, I literally couldn't turn the pages quick enough. Cates has done his homework with Thor and going in. I love how Mjolnir is arguing it's case for it's actions and how Thor took it for granted while not realising the strength that resides inside him. Merging Mangog into Mjolnir from when Jane Foster threw it into the Sun was epic writing. Cates has written Odin's storyline brilliantly drawing on how Odin always played games with Thor from times past. This is the Thor I've wanted to read for 40 plus years and hope Cates keeps up this amazing run. Must read comic at the moment no other titles come close.

In Odin's defense, he was tough on Thor because Thor was the rightful heir to the throne of Asgard. As such, the king of Asgard has to be strong in every sense of the word: mentally, spiritually, etal. But where the problem comes in is that Odin was so laser focused on having a warrior king for a successor that I blinded himself to the fact that Thor was never just a warrior or a future king: he is first and foremost, the son of Odin.

The phoenix goes around merging/possessing humans all the time? Why not simply say it was merged with Gaia at the time and make it simple? Also, Rune King Thor was still much, much stronger. This Thor is strong but RKT's feats were on a whole different level, as you saw him in just one example take out the Mangog in about 1 second flat with not even a struggle. He not only had the entirety of the Odin Force but the power of the runes, along with some kind of precience/prophecy/omniscience that let him see the way fate went and how to steer things to the way he wanted.
@BubblesMcNair2 жыл бұрын
Gaea* is not just some human. She's an Elder God, one of four. And I'm pretty sure The Pheonix Force can't merge/possess an Elder God as it's avatar. Another great video Rob! In the latest Avengers Thor finally taps into the Phoenix force to save Echo. So now we have Thor in his own series with the THOR-force and Gaea’s powers, beard and all (that I don’t like because he looks like Odin) and in the Avengers Thor (clean shaven!) has some of the Phoenix powers. Cates and Aaron cannot be doing this by accident. They must be up to something to bring it to some BIG story in the near future. What do you think?
@bradleywalsh85712 жыл бұрын
I think this could be right. We're finally getting started with exploring the cosmic entities that makes up a being like Thor. So many avenues with the Odinforce, Pheonix Force, cosmic powers of Elder Gods and potentially rune magic as displayed by RKT.

Or the other way around where similar to Dionysus, Thor's original mother (phoenix) could'nt finish the pregnancy and Odin found a surrogate(Gaia) to birth him similar to how Zeus birthed Dionysus from sewing the fetus into his own thigh and how Zeus was raised by Gaia to hide him from his father Cronos. This could explain why Thor has been shown to be able to call upon the power of Gaia as well as the phoenix force and the Odin force.

Kind of? Mangog is only the embodiment of revenge against ASGARD - Cause Odin used to be a dick and killed a whole lot of people. Gorr was a normal dude who just got really pissed, like the Hulk, but decided to take it out against all the gods, not just Asgard.
