Kinda ironic how the ducks have been linked to Berggren and the wings have been linked to Zegras 🤔🤔 As someone who watches the Griffins games, I hope Yzerman holds onto Berggren for now. His demeanor has COMPLETELY changed and he looks like a completely different player nowadays. He’s been working on defense and every time he’s on the ice, he’s making things happen and is completely noticeable. The way he carries himself is amazing for someone his age, if he makes a mistake, he brushes it off and makes up for it. I’ve seen interviews recently with Mazur and Lombardi and they talk heavily about how much of a presence he is on AND off the ice. The kid is ridiculous. I’m hoping Yzerman keeps him and gives him a bigger role in Detroit next season. Also, his chemistry with Kasper and Mazur is remarkable 🤌🤌🤌

If that is the case - Berggren changing - I think it is pretty safe bet that Yzerman is made aware . I would bet he keeps him -to replace Perron who is obviously in decline - and contract expiring - but if he does move him I am confident he will get a very good return

Detroit has a ton of veteran forwards who will be UFA's next season, Yzerman has been steadfast in playing the long game with his rebuild and I don't see him trading a prospect who has gotten ALOT better lately. This imo is just the beginning phase of watching his rebuild come full circle as Detroit looks to make a playoff push for the 1st time in a LONG time. He has those veterans there now to teach and show the younger guys what that part of the season is all about so that those lessons pay off down the road. He's done a great job albeit painful to have to go through they finally look like a team that sees light at the end of the tunnel

When it comes to these "trade rumors" they completely forget that GR exists. He's not going to sacrifice the development and chemistry of GR just for the possibility of getting a better player at the deadline. I could see him making a few hockey trades, like 1 for 1's.

The haul is gonna have to be huge for Berggren to be traded. I doubt any of those teams are willing to give up a 25-28year old top 6 F or top 4 D
@dj4aces

It all depends on whether those teams have what Stevie wants. Berggren could also be part of a package to get better, too, be it at forward or on defense. Seider is amazing, but he can't do it all, nor should he be expected to. I'm not sure who I'd target if I were Stevie, but that's just some food for thought.

Wings fan. Personally would rather have Sprong back next year and trade Berg, so just depends on what we can get or if we can dump some salary in a deal. That being said our AHL team is finally turning it around and he's a big part of it, so maybe he's finally turning into a balanced top 6 forward. If that's the case, wings have to keep him.

The trade I was thinking with Montreal was Wallman and Berg for Matheson, 3rd and 4th rd pick. Wings need a top 4 upgrade and also a PP1 defenseman for next season. Matheson slightly overpaid but within Wings cap range.

Have you ever watched one of those old western movies where 2 Cowboys would have a 10 pace shoot out at high noon? Steve Yzerman would be that cowboy who shows up and doesn't even draw his gun. He would simply stare into the eyes of his opponent, digging deeply into his soul and imbed the truth to his opponent that no matter what he does, "you've already lost." Steve's opponent would simply lay down his gun and walk away. Steve Yzerman doesn't "want" to trade Berggren. However, Steve Yzerman doesn't have to say a single word or "pull the trigger" on Berggren. The media is doing all the talking and upselling of Berggren for him. Steve Yzerman doesn't "want" to trade Berggren, but by the deadline or even this summer, there will be a minimum of 10 GM's willing to hand over their teams soul for Berggren and Steve will likely oblige one of them.... and they won't even realize that they had already lost. 😂

I dont see Yzerman moving Berggren unless its something beyond a rental. Like moving out one of their anchor D and Berger for a D with term. Or for a top 6 forward, with term so they can move Cat down with Kane. Wings been having trouble finding a winger to play with Larkin and Raymond so they can play Cat with Kane. Cat playing with Kane would be ideal on the 2nd line, but they dont want to disturb the third line of Ras, Compher, and Fischer. Peron hasnt been great up their, and no one else fits. Maybe Fabri or Sprong, but it doesnt seem like those are a good fit either.

Dont see SY trading good prospects especially Berggren. It wont last long, til he is beeing used. In my oppinion, Sprong fits in every line, very versatile guy. Unless someone is brought back that can get them to the Stanley Cup or is a really good D-man, I doubt that Yzerman does anything with him. He could easily replace someone like Copp. I liked him coming in, but he never was a 20 goal scorer and has not given the Wings anything but a steady player that isn't really producing for them. Jonatan can easily come in and actually produce. The Middle Age guys, are guys were brought in to help teach the younger guys, which they have done a good job of, but the main core is still young. Even thinking that Larkin is one of the oldest of the young core, but keeping Jonatan is the better option unless the offer is to good to pass up.

The wings are in “talent consolidation mode” at this point. They have NHL level talent all the way down to the backups. That means the only way to improve the roster is to get better players for the positions on the ice. That means trading a package of guys, including maybe a Berggren, for one guy that’s clearly and obviously better than the player he’s replacing in the lineup. The weakest spots on the wings are on the second D pair, and goalies not named Alex Lyon. So a Berggren would likely get moved with a defenseman or goalie that the new 2D or goalie would be replacing. Think Maataa or Reimer packaged with Bergg. The team can’t get deeper at this point, so it has to get more talented at the top end. Adding generic “depth” does nothing. Improving specific positions would be the goal.

Maatta or Reimer PLUS Berggren for a 2nd Goalie? I dont think so and SY won´t do that for sure. Reimer is cheap and should do it, til the prospect Goalies come of age. For Maatta Wings need another D. And i dont see beeing Berggren an addition to this trade. SY will keep Bergren for sure.

@stevenriley8382
@stevenriley8382 4 ай бұрын
honestly Berggren is probably worth more at least to Detroit. Berggren is only in the AHL because the offseason signings made it so he wouldn't get top 6 minutes. There are 2-3 defensive prospects in Detroit's coffers that likely beat Struble to the lineup and they have 4 UFA forwards currently. The only real reason I could see this working out at all is because Detroit's left side prospect pool isn't amazing. On top of that Berggren is over a point per game in the AHL this year and is over a half point per game in his 9 game NHL call up. Long story short I think Berggren has more value to Detroit than Struble currently.

If the Wings wanted to bolster their roster why don’t they just move him up to the main roster. Why trade for an older player when this guy is going to play a lot of years with Detroit. Yzerman knows the current success is just a preview of what’s to come. I don’t think he’s in such a hurry to trade a young player to slightly improve the roster. The Wings can make the playoffs with the team they currently have.

Would like to see Yzerman go after Gibson, Ingram, or Montembeault to help out between the pipes. Gibson & a 3rd/4th for Berggren & Husso. Would give the wings a solid Vet which is great for the playoffs and he could mentor Cossa in the coming years. Only knock is his cap hit is 6.4M a year thru 26-27 season, silver lining is we probably don’t expect Trey Augustine to join the big club until 27-28. For the Ducks they get a solid prospect, replacement goalie, and clear cap right now & in the future by trading away a guy who shouldn’t be in their long term plan. Not sure if the Coyotes would even consider trading Ingram at 26 y/o with how he has performed this year… but who knows with Yzerman negotiating he could trade a pig to a jew. Montembeault & a 2nd/3rd for Berggren & Husso/Reimer (depending on how much cap they can handle). Real nice deal for the wings (especially if it’s Husso they deal) getting a better 1B/2 goaltender who is on an expiring deal along with a future pick. Also would clear cap for other moves at the deadline or this offseason. Would open up a spot for Cossa next season too.

I think Yzerman has no intention of trading Bergeron unless their an insane offer that Yzerman can't pass up and I don't think even with a bidding war Yzerman wil get such a deal and unless a deal like that is offered like a first and player (non rental good defenseman to upgrade) and a prospect and take a defense man i don't want Yzerman to trade him.
