My big screen realization was noticing Bob Kane’s cameo behind Nygma and Chase when Two-Face breaks into the Ritz.

Yes, Batman Online.com posted it. Never noticed him before.

He’s in the midst of shutting everything down as he says it, so I think he’s troubled by the direction Dick Grayson, an innocent he tried to protect, is going in. Together with the assertions of the deleted scene that Batman attracts criminality, he’s feeling like he’s doing more harm than good as through Dick’s example, the innocents he’s trying to help aren’t necessarily better off for it.

I love that this is now a series of videos. It's very interesting to hear the perspective of fans who got to see the movie on the big screen. Great editing BTW. - I'm pretty sure that Dick is the "innocent" Bruce is referring to. Bruce wants to protect Dick from becoming a vigilante like him (not to mention that had Batman not existed, Dick's parents would probably be alive). He even looks at Dick in the eye when delivering that line. - Nice jump! It does look like Batman's jump. - I hope the Batman stunt actor didn't damage his eardrums in that underwater sequence (where the cowl gets full of water - I hadn't noticed that before either) - I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed an audience that laughed that much at Chase's lines. I get it, it's clunky dialogue, but still. I guess I had to be there. - Yeah the Robin capture at the end doesn't make sense. Never mind how quick it happens - how did Riddler and Two-Face even know about the existence of Robin? Did he plan the whole "you can't save both" challenge in a couple of minutes, and built his trap in that time too?

I think in the context of the final cut of the movie "The innocent aren't faceless anymore" to me mostly refers to Dick Grayson and what happened to his family. To our knowlege it was the first time that he felt that he failed as Batman. Two-Face went to the circus looking for Batman. He made a choice on the spot to reveal his secret identity to save everyone but even that wasn't enough. He was screaming "I am Batman" , nobody paid attention or even cared and the Graysons died. He felt responsible. Plus Dick was "inspired" by his example and wanted to be a "hero" , with revenge as his initial motive. He knows that its a dangerous life and all the darkness and loneliness that comes with it. He doesnt want that for another person, especialy for somene he already knows and have a similar story. Plus all the feelings he is starting to feel for Chase. Up until that point he felt that he have to be Batman, maybe not anymore . Alfred talks to him about having a normal life all the time. Dick was the first to suffer. Maybe if he continuous Chase and Alfred could be next. Maybe even what happened to Two-Face. "Thank you Bruce. You were always a good friend".He is someone who was a friend to Bruce and also someone who falied to save as Batman. Maybe all of this begins with the birth of Two face. This analysis of the movie is an excellent idea.

"The innocent aren't faceless anymore" is a great line to bring up Drew. It's a tricky one to figure out its true meaning. Here's a few of my thoughts. 1) He could be referring to the deleted scene where Bruce watches the Kenneth Frequency news report and afterwards Alfred tells Bruce how the "Wayne Foundation contributes a fortune to anti-crime programs and the police handle much of the villainy". 2) He's referring to Dick Grayson - realising that he can't stop him becoming a vigilante. He's saying he can be the new face for the innocent but he'll be doing it alone and won't get any help from Batman. 3) Or the innocent are The Graysons. Is Bruce saying that he can't be Batman because the death of the Graysons has put a face to the innocent. Interested to hear other people's thoughts.

Great timing for an upload. I just got done watching a Star unveiling for Batman in Hollywood. Burt Ward was there in attendence.

No way, that's awesome.

You mentioning how blue the movie is reminds me of how atrocious this looked on a projection TV where it bled terribly. Thank Christ for modern televisions with HDR!

I have always believed that the “Faceless Anymore” line means that, Aside from Alfred, Bruce had never truly cared for anyone before…..People that he had viewed as “Innocent” up to that point…were just strangers that he saved. Now…for the first time in his life..there were innocent people who had actually come to care for, and even…to love…like Chase and Dick. So there were no longer just faceless strangers that he felt he needed to protect, Now…there were people he loved.

But what about Vicky?

Vicki Vale... um... that was lust. Not love 😉

@@1995Batman I beg to differ, sir. Bruce tells Selina in Batman Returns that his relationship with Vicky was ‘serious’. He said that 3 years after they first met in 89. The time that passes between Batman Forever and Batman &Robin is only 2 years and Bruce has already moved on from Chase to Julie Maddison.😄

True. I guess anyone who gets kicked and punched in the head on a nightly basis will probably struggle to remember things.
@ChuckTheMysteryАй бұрын
@@walter_the_wobot2349 But keep in mind that in Forever, when Bruce is looking at the monitors in the cave, while looking at Chase, he says "I've never been in love before Alfred". So, his first true love was Chase. I think Vicki was far too opposed to the idea of him being Batman for his feelings to become love for her. Chase understood the duality, and it was clear that he never felt much of anything for Julie, even though in her words, she was "Recklessly in love" with him. I'll always choose to believe that he eventually reunited with Chase.

I personally never found Chase’s dialogue to be “atrocious”, I always saw it as a psychologist playing mental games…trying to use forward behavior to further analyze why a man does what Batman does. Was he really “The Wrong kind of man”, or was there more to him..to actually write “a hell of a paper” about. Her attraction to him was not truly physical but..she used that to try to get inside of his mind “. In other words…her forwardness was a test. I think when you view it from that perspective..it becomes fascinating rather than atrocious.
